A jeep isn't rated to pull the weight of most campers or boats. I wouldn't be able to pull my fishhouse with it either.

I've also never seen anybody driving an F550 for personal use. Those are very heavy duty WORK trucks, built for towing large weight. But if someone wanted to drive it for personal use, fine.

Also, my '98 Jeep Wrangler, brand new got 17 mpg per gallon. My F150 gets 16. I'll take the truck.
My F150 only gets about 13 but its a V8 and mostly just sits in the driveway unless I'm fishing or hauling

In post #33 you have a quote from me, then go on to say how we bitch about big engines being the governments fault. Show me where I said that.

I am ALL FOR big engines. I'm glad that you don't need one, I'm happy for ya'.
yeah i would go back and reread that if i was you...

perhaps you could quote me where i said it was you moaning about government

Obviously, YOU should reread.
You put up quotes from multiple people. You then say "you guys", lumping us all together. Do you see now?

When you say "you guys", are you talking about those quoted or all Americans?
Either way, I'm in both groups. LOL!!

We have the same truck, only mine's a 2008.
Only 13? Wow.
Your rear end must be geared low? Oversized tires?
tires are 265/70/18 ..was going wider but figured that would only make it worst..lol.. yup anything I buy now will have to be a v6 or less..lol

i'll give you that it was a bit of a broad stroke, it wasnt my intention of lumping the government conspiracy in with all the people scorning small cars

i think you'll find im denying that america is so different to the rest of the world that it deserves to be classed as a "special case".

lower fuel taxes would affect engine size but that does nothing to explain the scorn people here have shown. to me that boils down to the "bigger is better" attitude. i love how you think "public transport" is the reason for such comments like "cute" and "clown car"

have you actually read this? or did you just google and post first thing you saw? could you show me the relevant part that sets america aside from rest of the world?

or even just the part where it shows any evidence to support anything you have said?

is it not a fact that the majority of americans in this thread has shown scorn for efficient cars?

ahh the ambiguous and ultimately meaningless "quote"
my post was to point out the ignorance in you chalking this all up to mere "american arrogance". i call it a part of our cultural identity, which, for the third time, cannot be changed overnight. you call it arrogant. that, sir, is ignorant.

I don't understand why people in one country are so concerned with what types of cars people in other countries drive.
It's like me walking into my new neighbors house and telling him he doesn't need that 70" flat screen on his wall to watch TV, it's certainly not a good way to start a good friendship.
Just saying.

yeah go back to beginning of thread where people were bitching about "government keeping efficient cars from them" and "having to have big arsed cars because thers other big arsed cars on the road" then you'l see where this came from

I did catch that part, but I also picked up on Europeans insinuating Americans drive big cars to compensate for their little dicks or big egos. To be honest bro, some Americans probably do, but the vast majority of us need these big tucks to pull our boats, trailers, campers, and to work out of. On the flip side, I also have a 2006 Honda Civic that I drive when I go into town that averages 34 mpg.
Many Europeans claim Americans are arrogant, perhaps that is true to some extent. But what I find ironic about that is, it's the urban Americans, the ones who so admire Europe that are in fact the arrogant ones, if you were to meet the Americans who live in the rural areas that drive most of those disgusting big 4x4 trucks, I guarantee you they are the ones you would become friends with.

PS. Trust me, Bucky is an urbanite! LOL

And only Americans have boats, trailers and campers?

This whole thing came from Americans bitching about gas prices that are half what they are here but they won't buy smaller cars, which would relieve the whole gas price issue.

Its like bitching the tv is on the wrong channel, but not getting up to get the remote.

Well here is where I disagree with you on a few points. For example, take a bass boat I own, with the trailer it weighs about 1,770kgs
I'm not sure about your jeeps, but they don't make one here that will tow these boats, let alone stop one safely when you need to.

And if we Americans start buying and getting use to the smaller more economical cars and trucks like in Europe, our government will make sure to compensate by raising gas prices, just like those outrageous prices in Europe!
Personally, I'd rather have the choice to drive what ever I please, that's the very reason I love this country and also the reason that the United States has the highest immigration of any country on earth.

Then don't bitch about gas prices and noone will question your decision to drive whatever you want ;)

^^i'm pretty sure he was referring to the fact that the united states has the largest immigrant population in the world, at over 38 million, and makes up more than 20% of the earth's immigrants, not what percentage of the population are immigrants. clearly he was saying more people come to the united states than any other country.

Ginja, our Jeeps have even more towing capacity than the vehicles you listed, but there's a lot more to towing than the capacity of the tow vehicle. Even the jeeps cannot safely tow these kinds of loads up mountains and through winding curves. Other major problems are that the transmissions will not hold up, and small vehicles will not stop a trailer that heavy when you need it. Bro, the Ford Saloon weighs 700lbs less than my boat, I don't think I'd feel very safe driving down a steep grade with a load heavier than my rig, but that's just me.

Oh, and those stats you posted are net migration rates, not immigration rate per country.

The fact is, the United States of America alone has over 20% of all the worlds immigrants.
To this day Europeans immigrate to the US at ten times the rate that Americans do to Europe!

Not bragging by all means bro, just stating some facts.

Which Country Has the Most Immigrants?

Ever since Homo sapiens first wandered out of Africa, the story of humanity has been one of constant migration. Today, 213 million people in the world are living in a country other than the one in which they were born, according to U.N. statistics. Just ten countries absorb the majority of global migration, with the U.S. leading the pack by a wide margin.

yeah there is no way i would try to tow a bass boat with a small car or a jeep...a jeep cherokee sure but not even the new 4 door jeeps i would trust...just because you physically pull something does not make it safe or wise...even in a pick up truck the ride can brutal if you hit a semi rough rode...i wish i had a bass boat man...what is the largest large mouth and small mouth you have got?
