Need help with DIY venting

you kinda seem like the kind of guy who needs to buy a tent, buy a lamp, buy pre mix soil, rent a mexican, get an appartment, set everything up, let your friend and the mexican take care of it, take credit for some sugary buds, then, come back and tell RIU all about it (minus the mexican). i still stand by what i said DONT GROW IN YOUR PARENTS HOUSE BRO!

the dope man, u got a bit of reading ahead of you before you can seriously think about growing a plant at the rate that this is going.
RUI has so many different thread for diy stealth grow box designs that are sound, smell, n light proof, base your grow box design off of those.
im sorry im just getting a little frustrated atm

ur not guna get away with this man, its just nt practical for u to grow.
y not wait til early next year and go do an outside grow, find a spot in some woods or hidden away near other plants off the beaten track, plant it there in the ground adding some decent soil and go check on it eveery few days, check out jorge cervantes ultimate grow on utube he goes round and shows u how to do one of these grows.

Im on my first indoor grow, but Ive done a ton of research. I wouldn't use dirt from your yard because it will probably contain bugs and shit that you don't want in your plant. Everything I read about it says don't do it. If you're anywhere near a walmart or depot or lowes try checking out there soil. I use miracle grow moisture control. But you can use any. I think its pretty much all the same for your first grow because if you don't mess it up then soil will be the least of your problems unless its backyard dirt. A size that would fit in your back pack would be the smallest bag. It is a 8 quart bag. Thats 2 gallons. I don't know what size pots you're using but for the size of your op one bag may be enough. You may also want to put a little perlite at the bottom of the pots. Just a 1/2 inch layer. It helps with aeration. Those bags are small too (8quart). Also make sure you have trays under your pots or else your box may get wet and rot out. If you must use dirt from your yard bake it at 350 in your oven for a little bit. I know that sounds crazy but it will kill everything. As far as the ventilation goes I don't know what to tell you. Everything everyone has said sounds really good. I would have to relay what they said. If your really worried just buy a shit ton of fresheners and incence or you can buy a air purifier. Not sure if that will help. I have a air purifier but I haven't used it yet because its big and takes up space. You can build one also. Just look up on this site and they'll tell you. I may be building one for my op. Smell or sound isn't really an issue for me though. I am in college also, but I live on my own. I know its really tough to afford to do it. I work my ass off so I can. And its even tougher to afford the high ass prices people ask for premium weed. I smoke a lot so thats tuff too. If I could live at home I would but then I really wouldn't have a life. Thats why I work. I am growing in my closet though and I just open the door a few times a day and at night I leave it cracked. Im still trying to figure out a way of continually ventilating my setup without damaging my apartment. I understand you wanting to grow weed and its your choice so keep doing it if you want too. When I lived at home I would never have done it for two reasons: one I lived with my grands and two, they would go in my room too be nice and do stuff for me and they would have found it on accident. Your parents may find the setup. Especially if they go in there alot. You can probably hide a bag or two or maybe even a pound or 3, but a grow op Im not so sure about. Start begging for a key now that you're in college. You should start with I am doing right by going and all that stuff. You should know how to butter them up. Have you thought about the light bill also. And if your going to buy that soil from the store you need to hurry because they are really close to not selling it anymore so then you will have to go online. I don't know if you can have anything sent to you or not. I think the pH of miracle grow is usually pretty low so your first week or so of watering should have a high pH. You will need a pH test strip or digital meter. If you don't want to order one you can get one from walmart, lowes, depot, or any store that sells pool stuff or aquarium stuff. I recommend actually getting one from a local hydro store or online but you may not be near one or you may not be able to order stuff. The ones for pool and aquarium don't really have the range that you may want but for ghetto rigging your system quick that will probably do. Good luck with your grow because you are going to need it.

Hey real quick. Ive grown outdoors similar to what people have said for you to do. And its pretty simple. You don't have to worry about bills or expensive lights. I never grew premium stuff though because you don't want good shit being confiscated or messed up. And you really need to worry about people finding your place so DON'T tell anyone. I told my girlfriend once and she got pissed at me one day and robbed me then got caught and told her cop uncle. So don't tell anyone about any growing or you are on your way out the door before even putting your foot in. Don't spend too much time out there either. Do what needs to be done and go. You should know some more but I don't have time and you probably don't even want to do it. Just a thought.

yea i was going to do a outdoor grow in the spring but its winter now soo but anyways im gonna just buy a key for my door and lock it whenever im not home and i was just wondering if i had a carbon filter on each intake and outtake and only a fan on the outtake would this still work?(i already made the holes but im just leaving them open with a black strap of a garbage bag to cover it from light leaks) do u think this will work?

it will work but its useless to have a filter on the intake smell wont leak from it as long as the exhaust + filter has a fan

yes i realize that but remember how i go to collage and my parents get home quicker? so i didnt want to have the fan on or my parents would get suspicious and ask whats the noise from so i wanted to only have the fan on when im home from 3pm-10pm earliest 3pm-11pm on adverage and more hours on the weekend would that work i mean becuz i wanted to add a filter on both so when the fans not on when im not there if the air leaks out (slowly) then it wont smell cuz it would have to leak threw the filter either way? does that make sence?

just block it off

also put the fan on a timer to turn off around the time ur parents get home until when u get home so if theres any other leaks it wont smell as badly as if the fan wasnt running all day

thats true but i was just going to put dryer sheets along the cracks and hanging around the plant also but i dont think its much of the smell thats gonna be the problem i just want to make sure that i can leave the fan on only at curtain times as long that it wouldnt kill the plants thats all i wanted to know but thanks man id give u rep but it wont work for me its messed up
