Need all the best tips I can get for first time grow

You need to do a lot more reading but youre in the right place for that. I got some tips for ya though.
Those peat pots arent very good. You need to figure out a lighting solution. If you plan on keeping those indoor youll need way more light. Floro tubes in t5 work good for veg and hps work good for flower. Yes theres leds out there that work but theyre pretty expensive and the cheap ones are junk. Id get a 400 w hps and make a bigger grow cab or get a tent to grow in if you want to make a stab at doing indoor.
The plants get big. Once you flip the lights to 12/12 and they flower, they get much bigger. Remember that.
Seedling starter mix has almost no food in it if it was labled seedling starter mix. If its just some dirt that youre calling seedling starter mix it may have some food in it.
If you want to do something with your males you can plant a male and a female in a small container, next to each other, outside. Youll get seeds on the female plant. Other than that you can eat the leaves in a salad, it wont get you high though.
As for fertilizer id just go with whatevers cheap for your first grow. Some people read for months and know what theyre doing right out of the gate and their first grow kicks ass. Im going to be honest, im a little worried about yours. Growing is taking care of the plants needs and letting the plant do the growing. Needs being light, temperature, air flow, food, root system, water, and all the little things youll learn eventually like trellising or staking. Once you have a plan for all of these things you can start crossing them off the list. Just remember to try and spend money on things that are important like light, pots, and soil. Those are the basic needs. Food, fans, timers, and all the other stuff can be cheaped out on but not the important stuff.

Some great tips so far, I like DynaGro Foliage and ProTekt as well, pretty full range of nutrients in the Foliage ( I think all 16 main ones?). I have no trouble with heat using 23w (actual) cfls, I can use 10-12 of them in a 3x3x5 tent and it stays room temp. I do have a small oscillating fan and a 200cfm booster exhaust fan though, moving air is pretty important IMO.

My favorite tip for new growers is check out growweedeasy.com . It's a treasure trove of leads to follow to help decide what grow style fits your needs and answers for many of the basic questions.

I think you can have some fun with a pretty small, cheap setup if you can't afford to go big, I still occasionally throw a plant in this old closet box I built and it does great ;) Normally I use 2 of those 4 bulb turkey tray fixtures for a 200w box.

Jim, lol, yes it is me, but I am married.

I kind of figured this first grow might not turn out well, which is okay, I won't be too upset, okay maybe a little bummed, but thankfully pay day comes soon and I can start getting the things they need. I've been reading all over the internet. Got most of my info from growweedeasy.com
I signed up with grasscity.com but not many people respond on there like they do here. I can definately say rollitup users have been more helpful. I posted the same exact thing and got one response from a guy saying the plants could yield 3 ozs. I laughed, because if any of these plants do make it, I'll probably only be lucky enough to get a few grams. LMFAO:lol::wall:

Anyways, I think it's time for nutrients. And I have worried about the pots I put them in, mostly because of the size of them, but I had seen where people raised theirs in a solo cup all the way to harvest. Of course not to grow a huge plant that is. I didn't want to get too big in size. This first grow is def. experimental I guess you would say except for the possible outcome of something good to smoke. I do have a box fan for them, with the lid open they get a perfect little breeze. just enough to barely see them sway once in a while.

there is more then enough time to salvage them since they are barely a few days old

Anyways, I think it's time for nutrients.
Spend the money on a light should be your #1 priority ( do you plan to keep the grow entirely in that chest or can it be moved to a space with more vertical room ? )

Depending on your soil i wouldn't do any feeding until they are this big / bigger, or if you do feed keep the dosage SUPER low

Well, after moving the lights closer plants look healthier, def a good sign, some of the yellow I was seeing earlier disappeared. I actually don't even know. I figure if it goes pretty good I may want to grow them a little. I figure if that happens, I can hang something in my closet to close off one space by using the rack where you hang clothes then I can hang a light from the rack inside as well. actually sounds pretty good once I wrote it down lmao. When It comes to that point I will def. post pics of the new set up. Now I am focusing on light, I should have the money tomorrow to take care of that. I'm basically going to try to get the brightest light I can find at walmart that won's set anything on fire and I have some other lights that I just have to find.

Looking good for your first grow. 600HPS will sort you out but you'll need a grow tent and a decent fan to get rid of the heat, happy growing good luck.

Don't do that lol, This is a great first light especially for your available space in the closet. It's cost effective, low heat so no extra expenses for cooling ect. I use them myself for vegging and for accessory lighting in flower but they can hold there own for flowering too. It's not the best but it does the job.

there are plenty of successful grow videos using that light.

It was actually supposed to be more plants than that. lol. but I realized it was too much and gave the rest of the germinated seeds to my dealer. lol like I literally one day took the seeds out and said I wonder if it will actually worked then put a few in a piece of toilet paper with a little water. Then I told myself well what if these dont pop and I accidently get rid of the good seeds. LMFAO!! And thats how I germinated like over 20 seeds in 24hrs.

I think they are stretched. Working on a solution now.
Use
They sell really good refelctive material at walmart in the coleman/camping section as "fire blankets". Little $2-3 box will easily cover your walls. Or you could buy some of those car shade things that reflect the sun off the dash and cut it up and make it fit on the walls. The second is easier, but the first is cheaper.
Can't go wrong with car windscreen reflectors, all i use =))))

Above all, don't forget the 3 rules - No Smell, No Sell, and No Tell!!!!!!

Don't sell any pot if you grow it, Don't allow your grow to smell to attract unwanted visitors, and don't tell anyone because you never know who is going to want what you have. Be more afraid of jackers than police. It's pretty hard to call the cops because someone stole your weed or weed plants. Sometimes your friend will open their mouth to the wrong person or in the wrong person's presence without knowing and boom, your lying on the ground with your pants pulled down and duct tape holding your butt cheeks apart.

Don't get put on the ground, and tied up with your butt cheeks spread open with duct tape.

Research and reading is your best when learning to grow. I read continuously for over a year before I attempted a grow. So read and research. Youll need to know about lighting, pot size, nutrients, watering, tent, lighting. So keep reading and researching. Ive been growing for around 4 years continuously now and my wife still complains im on the net reading about my weed plants too much. Oh did I mention to keep reading and researching.

Not really meaning to sound sexist or anything (well a maybe a little) , but is that you in your Avitar?
If it is, PM, me, and I will be glad to help you in any way I possibly can. If you are a guy and showing off your girlfriend, your on your own boyo, go buy a Cervantes book.
Seriously, welcome to the best pace to learn in the fucking world.
You're both creepy and unhelpful, what a bad combination.

Threadstarter - dude, your grow is a fire hazard...can you increase your budget enough to actually make this worth your while and a little safer as well?

Best tip: read, read, read. Nobody is going to do the legwork for you. The original Overgrow GrowFAQ is a life-changer for a new grower and you can't do much better than this as your "base coat" of knowledge:

https://www.thcfarmer.com/community/threads/overgrow-growfaq.59599/

You need to spend hours upon hours reading if you want a reasonably good understanding of your new hobby. We can help, but you need to put in the work first.

Please don't waste your money on a $30 grow book from Cervantes or anybody else either, you can get much better and actually accurate information if you sift through that growfaq and forums like this one, thcfarmer, and icmag.

Good luck.
