How do you name strains you have breed? For example, if you cross 818 headband with ak-49 what would that be? Or bubba kush X black russian. What would those two crosses be named if you breed them? What about blue dream with bubba kush or such. Can anyone help me out, I just want to name things propery lol

I think it is just about a catchy name that sparks intrigue. I would go with Bubba Black, Blue Kush (Dream Kush maybe), and something totally arbitrary for the headband and ak.

If you want to ride on the breeders coat tales you call it what the cross is, like Blueberry x Lemon Skunk.

If you want to present something on your own merit. come up with a new name, like "Snow Ho" or something.

Usually though lines with more work to them then just a simple cross will get the new name.

If you just cross something, the seeds will put out plants that are about 50% a mix of the two plants, 25% will take after the mom and 25% will take after the dad.

You will have three different types of plants.
Moe, Larry and Curly?

You might need 3 names.

I know simple crosses don't always need names, I was really going to breed a few of my favorites together. After f3's I wanted to breed those together and eventually stabilize it

Whatever you do make sure the name is exciting and catchy , that way it will become an overnight sensation even if it sucks ass ! Seems common these days to just label with a commercialized twist

:blsmoke:always give the proper credit to the father......just like children--

that is the true and proper way old guys always represent.....our 'kidz'

you give your 'children' your name from 'your' pollen/ball sac--
it traces the lineage-

--->lately we have been playing with pollen from a Mikado/hawaiin hybrid from old federation seeds---

I used the sperm to cross it with a 20+yr old DJ short 'hierloom' BB (B X 9times-)

we have called it 'mikado-berry'---it stinks! or "mikado-blue" or Hawaiian berry??
we tried "blue Hawaiian" but it was not a good rep giving mom all the props--

hope that makes sense:peace:

I like to name strains that I conjure up after space aliens or feral cats that I have befriended. Also brands of breakfast cereals from my childhood work well too.

I also name very special strains using cute nick-names I have for my penis.

i tend to just make shit up as i go, i give credit to the lineage whom pheno and expressions i was after.

i dont name them until at least 2-3 generations in, or a special hybrid(three way crosses and shit) or a first generation plant with special phenos.

I name all my plants, just watever pops in my head the names have nothing to do with nothing and are really just to keep track of what harvest came from what plant until I find what I want to work with.... frankie 49, pirates playhouse, bungalow 6. If the plant has a spacific trait I want to hilight so I remember I throw it in like "Thick 37, bananna 76 , tiny nanner. the numbers have no significant meaning it's just whatever comes to mind when I smell a fresh opened jar of it. once I find what I want to work with I well I havn't gotten that far yet but I assume bannana 76 will become bannana something or something bannana

We name ours either based on where we got the genetics, where we bred them, the genetic combo- or based on a smell/taste they have.
Like our "Wanda" and "Skittlz" Wanda was a take-off on "where's Waldo" because after we got her genetics going, we grew her in a 'hidden' grow out in FRONT of our house!
And "Skittlz" Wanda x Blueberry, is named after it's smell and with my initials at the end.
