image.jpeg I have a 8 bucket ebb and flow system. I have 4 grow light fixtures, 4ft 2bulb T5 grow lights, 6500k 8700lux. I'm using General hydroponics nutrients. Hydroton median. Im going to fim them once around four nodes, then let them veg decently tall... Any input for max yield with what I have. Can't decide whether to grow seedlings or clones...

you got any clones to start with? didnt say if you lived in a legal area, had a hook up, etc.
i don't trust clones from a dispensary, i hear "i got mites from that clone i got from the dispensary" way too many times to want to bring that into my growroom.
i'd suggest buying some quality seeds and cloning the ones you like the most

the lights you have should be fine for veg, but you're gonna need something more powerful for flower.
theres a lot of good threads on here right now about cob leds, some of the advertisers are long time members and usually have pretty good deals.

I have good seeds, would I yield more if I grow from seedling? Or.. Grow a seed and use the clones? Thanks for input on lights I will get something more powerful or double the lights.

some will tell you that a plant from seed will yield more, and i think they're right, if you're growing outdoors. plants from seeds have a tap root, and thats the big advantage, they can get anchored better, and reach out further for food.
clones have a fibrous root system with no tap root, which isn't a problem if the plant is growing in a pot in controlled conditions.
so inside, i don't think it matters, unless you plan to grow very large plants from seeds, you'd need a deep container for the tap root, i would think.
i grow from seeds then clone for a while till i find a new strain i like. if i buy 10 femm seeds, grow two, and like one a lot, i can clone that plant for a while, and still have 8 more seeds to try to get that pheno from again.

Yup grow out a few different strains and pick the one you like the most, clone it and work it would be my advice, what ever that's worth :(. Also t5 grow can be done start to finish but for a newb I think I would stick with HPS if you can deal with draw and heat for flowering. I did do a couple of T5 grows but the yields were low compared to HID. As I said it can be done though and can, as seen by RM's grows, produce fire if you work it.

This is very true. My brother just got 4 white shark clones from a dispensary and they had spider mites. Had to deal with mites right from the start.

Scrog or no Scrog? My intentions are to grow them tall but I see some big yields with scrogging

try it on the two at the end and see how you like it.

Lights and how you use them will be what gets you the yield. I have seen upwards of 14 OZ out of 1 plant SCROG under 1 400watt HPS bulb. If you run four 600 watters you could see 80-100 oz running SCROG off of those 8 sites.... Kinda all depends on your experience, if you are like most and shoot for 1gram per watt, 80-100 oz is do-able in this scenario.

Sorry, I should add, if you plan to run all 8 sites under fluorescent bulbs, you really aren't doing the system any justice at all. No point in using that elaborate of a hydro system if you don't intend on lighting it properly.

Actually, for how awesome your system you could go crazy and run 1kwh above each site... Imagine 8000 grams (15-17 lbs) lol. If you actually plan to run fluorescent through the whole grow phase, Id only run 2 of the sites leave the other 6 for when you have some lighting.

Also, FYI, I run ebb and flow too. If you need help through your first cycle let me know, I got about 8 years of exp with this method.

I bet two 600w hps/mh would blow it up decent? I just picked t5 because I already had the light fixtures and low on funds, expecting to upgrade for second grow.

yeah, that ought to be about right, use your t5s for cloning and early veg.
2 600s ought to cover that well, you should be able to grow some bushes

pop off all the seeds you can get pick the best ones for clones pick the ultimate freaks for making seeds :bigjoint:

shop around for 2 1000w dimmable ballasts that way you can run 400w to 1000w lamps, mh or hps cheapest way to cover 2m+ and get variation in temps and brightness you can do 4 to 40 good size plants with 2 x 2k`s and 2 cool tubes if you're on a budget

i don't like dimming ballasts, it does weird shit to the spectrum the bulb emits, and makes the bulbs wear out faster
