My Lil Closet Grow

Quick reminder, the noticeably larger baby is somewhere between 6 and 7 weeks, the other four are three weeks old, and the lil one is a week today. The larger of the bunch was started with another batch that didnt do so well, I think bad genetics, bagseed. Her growth was very stunted and slow early on, due to my inexperience, and not being prepared. So here she is at six weeks, gonna start to flower her in about a week or so when the three week old babies have done some more vegging. We will see how it goes. Looks good on my end, I am happy with the progess at this point.

So, when do you folks think I should kick them to flower? I was thinkin like another two weeks maybe three depending on how they look in two weeks. Just wanna let the younger ones catch up a bit and get some more veg growth. Just wondering let me know folks. Seems like I don't have much of a following. What's up?????

I wrote this in someone else's journal but the exact same advice should be good for you:

"If I could make a suggestion it would be to wait to flower until all plants have showed sex. It may very well be when they are double the size they are now. Just don't do what I did and go to flower before you know. That way if you end up with fewer females than expected, they are still in veg so you can grow em a little bigger to fill all your space. I now have two females out of nine plants I started with and a half empty flower room:sad:. If you end up with too many females for the space just cut one or two up for clones."

Ok Mared Juwan, How long would you reckon before I can tell? I know one of my plants is like 7 weeks old or so. She was stunted early on due to lack of preparedness. But I know have good and normal conditions, and my others are doing very well IMO. They are 3 weeks old and already damn near caught up to the one twice their age. And I have one that is a week old and damn near catchin the 3 week old girls. Any ideas would be helpful. I was gonna flower them in two weeks, wishfully thinkin they all girls. Ya know. thank for the response buddy.

Maybe two weeks for the biggest but it's hard to know. I had nine out of nine plants showing before 40 days from seed. It was right about when they were three feet tall so you might have a ways to go. But don't worry, I found that the plants grow faster and faster the bigger they get. Once they get 6-8 leaf sets on that main stem they explode in growth!

Ok my man thanks. Its kinda seeming that way. I've had lot of growth the last few days, so I know they are waiting to explode! How do you think they are sitting three feet or so under the HPS? I didnt really wanna veg unda HPS, just wanted that for flowering. I started with cfl's but it just wasnt going fast enough. lol. So, thats why I threw them under the HPS. I order a MH, but it hasnt gotten here yet, so Its been under the HPS a week. When my MH should have been here. Thanks for the info and advice

You should be able to get it a lot closer than that. I keep mine 16-24 inches away. When it's too close the top leaves will get evenly yellow and dry looking. Move the light up a couple inches and they green back up in a few hours.

Oh, no shit? I didnt know. I just have them on the floor, and the light is hung to the bar in the closet. I don't have my light hangers yet, and I just naturally thought not too close. I guess I can lower the light some how until my hangers get here.

The key is to watch for the heat. You know the rule of thumb is if you can hold your hand comfortably under your light then your plants are OK too. Down to about 8 inches or so then the intensity gets too strong even if you have no heat issues like with an air cooled hood.

Ok, I will lower the light tomorrow during lights on. My hangers should be here this week anyway, so i can use a shoe string or something. lol. Thanks for the advice gentleman. Do you think I should see a different growth once I get them under the MH?

I think you would see a difference, but it will be hard to notice without cfl plants to compare them to.

Thanks TrialAndErrorMan! I appreciate it! I am doing my best, and giving them girls all the love they need, and can handle. Keep in touch and stay tuned, I will be starting my flowering in about two weeks, when you smaller ones catch up.

So, I have been contemplating if it will be any kinda hazard for me to plug both my 400w MH, and HPS into the same power strip as my two fans? I have a 16" oscillating fan, and then a small 10" inch fan. It may even be an 8" inch fan. But it's one or the other. Any replies would be great, I am ready to give my baby girls both MH, and HPS light spectrum. Please and thanks in advance.

Not sure about two HID systems but I've had a 400watt system and five 26w(100wat equiv) CFL bulbs all plugged into one strip. It made me nervous though so I just got an extension cord and another strip. They're cheap. Better safe than sorry.
