I spent some time with my plants yesterday. I'm as straight a shooter as they come - i don't go for all this spirituality nonsense but I must say that spending more time lately growing and nurturing has been quite therapeutic for me. There is nothing like a new grow to dust yourself off and get back on that horse. This time I'm doing things a little differently. Last grow I had these massive vertical plants that only had 1 main cola each. Also I was running out of room - they were 4 footers! This time around I'm Light Stress Training (L.S.T.) and trying to bush out the plants so that I have a canopy of even height that will hopefully be all bud. I'm looking at around 16 plants x a few major bud sites per plant = lots of bud to give away to friends to get through the winter.

RIU, thanks for the support and now... on with the show.

Oh, a funny thing happened: I was cleaning up the veg room and found this big bud lying on the floor. It must have fell off the clothsline during the dry. Odd to have this much pot just 'turn up' like it was a missing sock.

So here is an example of the LST I was talking about. Note that as a clone seedling I topped it giving it the double stem effect. The "before" was how i did things last time giving the plant a vertical profile:

Single stalk bending gives more light to exposed side:

More pedantic yet instructive pics:

with legend!:

All 16 plants back in the bloom room:

wow! what a jungle! I'm just loving that canopy of potential.

I'm thinking about kicking into 12/12 tonight. Any opinions out there?

Wider angle showing heater and fan:

finally, new intake fan! It's a powerful and cheap ball bearing fan bringing in fresh C02 laden air from outside completing the vent circuit. Also helps keeping temps down:

Also, i was gutted to hear:

sorry to hear about your pops,it puts a damper on all things.i havent been around for awhile, lost everything to a grow tent and off gassing and it was a disaster but none that equal the loss of someone you love, take care.
More detail please...what happened? or send link to journal.

one last anecdote: I scraped down my trimming scissors with a razor blade: pure hash! Put it in the bong and smoked it. Within 30 seconds I realized I was going to be wayyyy to high. I was right. Totally non-functional but at least I was swallowed by the warmth of the sun in nirvanic walk down my street which I hardly recognized. blissful and forgetful.

yes, sixteen (clones of females) and they just went to flower 10 minutes ago.

I'm slightly worried about space. If anyone has any experience on the subject I'd be glad to hear. Am I better to run with fewer plants? Is it a less is more thing? Any hermies will take leave so who knows how many I'll end up with. After a week I'll take clones for drybiegrow3.0.

the kush is insane. i'm having trouble staying with a thought for more than 30 seconds!

I think I'll just keep on with this thread since we are all here together already anyway.

I'm trying to avoid stretch to maintain a low bushy canopy. I'm using these tips especially the fan blowing on the plants and leaving my MH in for the first 2 weeks of flower before switching to HPS.

nice finish on your plants,to answer your question,i lost all my plants and breeding to a tent that was offgassing,it killed everything, the tent i was told was not the killing type, but they lied.it took about 4 months for me to realise that it was the tent killing my plants,i even asked the owner of the shop if he was positive these tents were not killers he said yes positive,he lied and then after i showed him he agreed the tents were bad he agreed to not sell them.well he is still selling them at the store and over the internet.

I read through your whole grow. It was pretty awesome watching it. I am hoping I will some day be able to enjoy the bliss of harvesting some amazing buds. I am sorry to hear about your loss. Take care!

4 weeks into flowering DrybieGrow2.0

Even canopy achieved!

Also I finally figured out how to custom white balance my photos so it doesn't look orange even though i'm shooting with HPS light.

2 weeks to go and I'm leaving on vacation for a week! I'm getting a buddy to water. Plus I have some people staying at my place for a bit but they don't and won't know. I'm a bit worried about not being around to regulate temps but what can you do? At times these suckers have been at 35 degress and down to zero and they still look magnificent. Growing clones but I'm not doing another round - probably just going to give them away or plant in the spring somewhere outside. Anyone want some fine kush clonage?

yep, a true hobbyist. Sure I partake but I'm not interested in selling and I could never smoke my whole grow. I consider myself a bit of a Weed Robin Hood. Just wondered if I could do it. After this grow I'm moving on.

Actually, if it wasn't for you 420 i'm not sure I would have done a second. After seeing your plants I realized what was possible when you fim, lst, prune, etc. Now I've got an even canopy with a bigger, stronger cola yield in the same space.

I think I will chop in 2 days. Sure the buds could mature a bit more but I like the early harvest high. No couchlock for me.

I've flushed and things are looking pretty ripe. Besides, I just got my hydro bill!

Upskirt shot:

Typical bud:

Close-up of above:

can't wait to determine yield. looks good though. I've gotten rid of all the dead leaves but surprisingly there are still a lot of green fan leaves?
