That plant looks like its stretching. I would leave no more than an inch from that plants conapy before its falls over and dies, at this young age most bent plants die so get those lights on it asap. Or u might wanna add some soil around the base to lessen the amount of exposed stem.

First off SWEET set up. Its like the non-redneck version of My Room =)

Second I third the adding more soil to fix the long stem. When you plant the seed you plant it shallow so it can get out of the soil, but when it starts growing youll want to sturdy up that stalk by adding soil as it grows. I always start my soil plants at around 2/3 full of soil to leave room for adding soil. Once its about full its good to use a topper like Hydro-Clayballs or Pebbles, NOT perlite, This will help to lock in moisture and promote a high humidity root system.

*Day 4*
Not much to tell apart from the 1st set of razor leaves have grown & Ive noticed that the temp & humidity at the leafs level is at 31C & humidity at 30%, its proving difficult to control it up their even if the distance is a difference of 15cms.

*Day 5*

The leaves are only 1.5 inches away so it longer stretches but the stem is beginning to bend so Ive attached a little paper clip to it which has worked but for how long? Maybe Ill add a little clip fan in the chamber, would that be safe at such an early stage?
The surface of the soil is looking dry but an inch into the soil it seems moist so Im not going to water as iv read not to water a little at a time but to water once until it seeps to the bottom & then allow it to dry through out then repeat. Its a little difficult to tell the wetness from looking at the soil but you be the judge.

Id be willing to add more soil onto the base but I have no perlite will/can this make things worse (not even in the soil in the pot) should I water the soil before adding it to the pot? Also I do have clay pebbles handy should I use this instead if so is their anything I need to know for preparation?

Thanks for your compliment I spent alot of money on that setup.

The clay pebbles would work fine....ur just trying to reinforce the stem. And again the whole stretching itself comes from the light being too far away. Did u move them closer at all?

Yes I did take a look at the pic below, Ive added a fan into the cramped are to strengthen the stem but would it be wise to switch it on right now?
As for the clay pebbles do I need to do anything before introducing them to the pot?

Excellent they look to be straitening out already. But yea def add some clay pebbles to the ones severely bent/bending and your plants will be fine.

LOL it only straightened up because Ive attached a opened paper clip to it take a look at the pic below.

But Ive asked you twice I think you missed it "As for the clay pebbles do I need to do anything before introducing them to the pot?"

Oops sorry didnt catch that. No nothing special needs to be done.....because your gonna be using them as support purpose only. To be honest with you after the plant has grown u can remove them to allow more air to interact with the soil. I would add them in small increments at a time, until the plant stands strait on its own. Once it stands on its own stop adding them. Water and do everything else normally. Again once its strong enough we can remove them.

What about the fan, will it make a difference to the stem at this point?

Prob not....so long as its at a low setting. Might wanna wait until the plants stem gets a bit sturdier though. But if the fan does not cause the plant to sway at all then continue using it since it provides a good source of fresh ventilation. :peace:

my first attempt at growing in hydroponics has been a disaster so this is still my 1st grow (if you know what i mean) but this time im beginning in soil here we go.

Instead of making a closet or purchasing a tent or two i purchased a closet "the g-kit 400 combi with 400w cooltube and chambers for motherplants and clones" to be precise (see pics)

dimesion (hxwxd): 176 x 88 x 58 cm

i had a little money to spend at the time so i went all out but i recommend you guys never spend this amount of money on such a little setup.

10 x blueberry seeds bought from pukka seeds for approx £110. 2 germinated in small glass of tap water within 48 hours & placed in 10cm x 10cm pots of soil ( b&q sowing and cutting compost 8240g 12l) purchased from b & q. As you can tell by looking in the pics below i didnt use perlite but i will be transplanting in to a larger pot once they grow & get taller ill using so ill use it later. Right now the pots are in the smallest chamber (bottom left in the 1st pic) which has 2 x fluros (36 watts in total) but ill switch it on when i see a sprout (some people say you should switch it on immediately but i dont see the difference if the seeds are covered in the soil). Ill state the specs of the other chambers as i go along.

Well thats it for now feel free to comment boys & girls :P

how much did that run you??

*Day 6* Just a little growth not very noticeable.

*Day 7* After purchasing such a nice piece of kit it would be ghetto of me to use that paper clip to keep the stem upright so I got it out of their & replace it with clay pebbles (thats how we roll) & its worked.
A little more growth is visible, the 2nd set of the razor leaves have grown almost the same size as the 1st but I was hoping the stem would get a little thick, Ive placed a fan in the area but Im not sure if itll make any difference to the stem anyway pics are below.

Yup looking good. And yes the fan will make small differences for now, but slowly and shortly the fan will increase the strength and good health for the plant over all. Just keep them lights right on them and consider maybe getting more bulbs as you will need it sooner than u think. :joint:
