hey guys, if i can just chime in on your convorsation here....

i go solo cup > 1 gal grow bag > 3 gal fabric pot

i shake the seedling out of the solo cup (i save my cups)

i take a razor to the plastic grow bag and just cut it off.

i dont have any input on the root system from the fabric pot because i have yet to remove one of the plants from one (just started using them).

heres where i have been getting my supplies....2 bucks each for 3 gal fabric pots, they are made from recycled plastic water bottles which is something i really like (keep it green right)

1 gallon plastic grow bags 25¢ ea or a case of 500 for 13¢ ea

3 gal fabric pots 25 bags @ $1.60 ea

shipping has generally run me around 10 bucks......so if you incorperate that into your prices......the more you buy the cheaper they get. but even if you just order one pack of 25 fabric pots and pay shipping your still only looking at 2 bucks each...

the 3 gal grow bags do not have handles...but thats the same with about any other grow bag and to be honest...they dont need them. the fabric is sturdy and can be lifted with ease and no concern of breaking.

if you want to skip the middle man to save some cash you can go straight from solo cup to 3 gal (or whichever size you prefer) and not even get the 1 gal grow bags. i simply use them because they help me manage space in my veg tent while allowing my roots and plants to continue growing.

hope this helps.

oh and one last thing...the website i mentioned is not the fastest on getting your items out the door. last time i ordered it was like 3-4 business days before my item was shipped....if your not in a huge demand for them "right now" its definatly worth taking a look at as you can save a bit of money

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to RetiredMatthebrute again.!

Thanks brother for the nice post and the links!
I can source everything at my local store, but I'm sure everyone can't so thatnks again for the links.

And as far as the solos and shaking the root mass free from them, I damaged my frist ever few transplants somewhat by trying to get the girls outta solos, so I learned by prob the 3rd transplant that it'd be easier to cut the cup lol, but if you can pul it out successfully, why not do it right?! The solos can be bought EVERYWHERE i run thru them haha. BUT nice!

And and old wise man by the name of SomeBeech swears by the transplant lol and transplants a couple time per grow.
I figure I'll transplant the first time around 2.5 weeks and then the second time a week before I flip to flower, so I've got time to recover before the plant actually starts switching over to flowering! And I wouldn't say to skip the middle man just because you probably dont wanna put a plant in it finishing container at 2.5 weeks ya know?!

Nice to see you use the same technique tho! As humans, we'll find a way to make EVERYTHING we do easier haha SOME HOW!

Nice post Matt! And thanks again for the links! Amazon is also a good place to go for these things! Also I've got 2 smarts pots with handles and 2 without haha and the ones without handles were a dollar more each lol. Like Matt said, the handles are really nothing special. They're just there.

Only thing I'd suggest is not moving your plant too much within the days/week after you've transplanted it!

Time for lights on, breakfast, and my spliff haha

Just posting more pics here towards the end as everything will be finishing up here in the next month!
Wanna document my first real effort and build on it with the next!

Here are some shots:

Delicious Seeds Critical Jack Side Close Up.jpgDelicious Seeds Critical Jack Side View.jpgDelicious Seeds Critical Jack Cola.jpgDelicious Seeds Critical Jack Cola 3.jpgDelicious Seeds Critical Jack Cola 2.jpgDelicious Seeds Critical Jack Out From Under Lights.jpg
The above is my Delicious Seeds Critical Jack Herer! She is 70 days from seed today, and has been on 12/12 all but the first week of her existence.
This is the type of plant structure that I'd like to build off of in the future! She was topped just above her 3rd true node and has 6 main colas w/ no extra branching or budsites! Such a pretty shade of green! I figure she's got about a month left maybe?!

Bagseed Full Body.jpgBagseed Budsite.jpgBagseed Cola.jpgBagseed Cola 2.jpgBagseed Cola 3.jpgBagseed Cola 4.jpg
The above is Mrs. Beyonce Green AKA My Bagseed! I'm SO IMPRESSED by this thing that's it's crazy! By the looks of her and the rate at which shes flowered, I'd say she'll be done a little sooner than my Critical Jack, so maybe a little less than a month?! IDK tho, well see!
She's only been LST'd. And She's also 70 days from seed today!

In the above I'm just trying to show you guys how the autobub is changing in her final week! She's really lumping up and has some nice pink and purple setting it! I know I talked a lot of shit about this girl and that we've been thru a lot together haha, I think baby girl is gonna PUT OUT! This is Week Week 8 Day 3 Flowering!

Seedsman White Widow Purpling!.jpgSeedsman White Widow About A Week Left.jpg
And just trying to show you some of the purpage I'm getting from my White Widow!
She's starting the really thicken up too! Her colas are about equal now to the width of the autobubs!
This is Week Week 8 Day 3 Flowering!

I'm hoping to pull 3/4 of a LB when all is said and done :joint:

I use the old Solos to make spikes to label my plants.

Beech
I like that idea will need to use that next grow. I was just using a piece of masking tape to right the strain on the pot (so I can remove it and keep the label with that plant) but I will be using the bag pots next grow so that will no longer work.

I did get the 5 gallon bucket set, but I only use 2 of them out of the set lol. I wish I could taste that bubblicious, there's something about it that makes me really like it. Shape, color, crystals, she's got the package.

Word in regards to the 5 gal bag set lol! So I should be straight with the smaller set huh?! I'll make batches if I have to no doubt!
And bro, I know I'll be getting at least on seed from her! And from what I've read, that seed should be 100% female.

There's another I've been following on here who growing an autobub and his was funky like mine, and he ended up with over 10 viable seeds.(with the camo look).
I got my bananas before they could do anything tho and he missed them for the most part, so that's our difference.
But still, she's changing a little every day bro! They're finally starting to get the color that I learned they would.

One of the reasons for me starting organic was the fact that it brings out the colors in plants! And looking at how my autobub is growing man, I def. feel like I coulda gave the Blue Widow another week..
Live and learn tho hey..:joint:
