not too hard at all! thnx
Nope. When you read the books on growing and search around the web, people make it seem WAY more complicated than it really is.

I posted my walkthrough here as a starter project that anyone can use to make a few ounces of personal mushrooms but once you get the hang of it, or you want to move up to larger yields I recommend going to the shroomery.org to continue learning more.

Take a look at the videos above as well. They'll explain a lot of the details that I left out in my walk through. My goal was to show it from start to finish and demonstrate how simple it is without explaining all the details.

enjoy

I'm kinda confused about this. If you drill holes in the lids then pressure cook the jars with the holey lids on, aren't they gonna just fill with water?

Nice as this tutorial is, please, please please don't use PF tek. That tek is no easier or more foolproof than half a dozen other teks and PF tek will not get you to a place of understanding the life cycle of the mushroom. PF tek was invented by a very shrewd man who made millions, not from the tecnique but from the syringes he sold in support of his free "invention". This does not make the man bad, but it does make the tek bad, the hobby as a brother put it, has moved on. Evidence of the man's genus is the fact that the widespread perception remains that pf tek is the only way to begin and that it is "easy". The only positive thing about this method is that it can be done without a pressure cooker, but growing hydroponicly can be done without a ph meter as well. Why would you want to do that?
