Munchies.Ways to deal and avoid overeating?

Munchies. Weed + Appetite. Change in appetite.

So I have been trying different ways to avoid eating when I get the munchies. I usually smoke at night after I workout and have met my calorie requirements for the day. I wanted to start this thread to collect ideas on what my fellows MJ smokers do to avoid overeating. I know it ultimately comes down to willpower and habits but would like to hear other ideas to curb the munchies.

Things I try to avoid bingeing:

1. Drinking lots of water- I usually do anyways so doesn't help.
2. Keeping gum around- I end up finishing entire packs which is expensive in the long run.
3. Keeping healthy meals cooked and ready- this works but is time consuming and still not good for people who smoke at night.
4. Ridding the house of all junk food- works until I end up going to the 24/7 store or dunkin donuts.

I love getting high but I hate the munchies! I have been trying to cut body fat for a while but my night time eating is counter-productive to all the effort I put into exercising. I just can't seem to stick to my diet once I am high. I know it is poor will-power on my part but it is like I get hunger pains after I smoke or something. The urge to eat gets very strong. The odd part is when I am not high during the day I barely think about food nor do I have a appetite.

After I smoke its like the only thing on my mind. So I was wondering how people who smoke daily stay fit? I know it depends on your metabolism and everyone is different etc etc...but yeah what do you guys do?

when you get the munchies... maybe just eat some fruit or something?... for me give me a 30 topping pizza covered in cheese and ill have the rest of my fridge on the side :D

I have tried fruit but the sugar isn't good for weight loss at night. Also portion control is almost impossible when you got that munchie hunger craving. Its so strong.

no ever got fat off of kale. but no seriously munch away at fruit veg, hummus things like that its okay to over eat as long as youre over eating on the proper foods

This is the same exact problem i run into at night.I excersize and use to be able to not eat after smoking at night.The best I can do is just eat a small meal before smoking and it levels out hunger for me most of the time,but you still have to keep it in mind not to overeat.Its better to Eat softer foods like yogurt or a small bowl of fruit.One thing Ill do is mixup protein powder with yogurt and It satiates the hunger pains but its not for everyone as we are all different on whats we eats.

I make sure there is nothing in the house but fresh grapes, cherries, lo sugar kettlecorn or other air popped popcorn, lo sugar cereal like puffins but I work out most every day to balance it all. 70% of weight is diet so watery type fruits work well for me can eat as much as I'd like without it affecting my weight. Sugar is always a concern but but if you're gonna eat it then natural sugars are best ie; fruits.

Nice thanks for the ideas! Fruits, veggies, and low cal/sugar snacks is what I have been keeping around but w/o self-control I tend to make healthy foods unhealthy by eating so much of them...its like I have a never ending hunger urge when I am high. However when I am sober, I can go a whole day w/o food or hunger pains. Not that I do bc not eating is unhealthy in the long run but yeah I kinda wish there was a method to curb that desire to eat.

Is there certain strains that cause less munchies or is it just some people get stronger urges then others??

Easy..smoke saliva doms..they control hunger for me and then I use indies at night for relax/sleep that's when I get muchies and if I don't have it in the house I won't go out..lol most times I'm too lazy to pack another bowl..my problem is I can cook and can make things out of few ingredients..so I have to be careful not to have nuts, chocolate chips or other baking stuff around..you name it pancakes, French toast, eggless/flourless cookies..I've made at 2am!

a few other ideas are: SF Jello/Pudding, soups, berries and dollop of whipped cream, sliced raw cukes/peppers dipped in dressing..it's a pretty good variety so I'm never bored and the pounds don't accumulate.

I am going to try getting sativas. My dealer usually only gets sour D. And as of now I got three girls growing but not sure if its a sativa or indica (would appreciate advice if anyone can chime in HERE).

One other thing i forgot to mention in my previous post is that you got to make sure you eat regularly throughout the day,IOW normal meals,dont starve yourself by any means especialy if you work out,It will cause the urge to binge to be much worse!But even if your still eating like normal and the problem is still just as consistent with the munchies,Switch to as mentioned above Sativa dom strains which I personaly love and or my suggestion is my other post,best of luck to you!

Thats the thing I try to eat healthy and six meals a day. But when I overeat after being high at night, the next day I try to restrict my cals/carbs in an effort to compensate. Its not a wise tactic and I am hoping to stop doing that. I may have to give up weed in a effort to meet my bodybuilding goal. If I can't improve my self control that is. :/

My trainer told me to have a protein drink if I wake in the middle of the night one of the low glycemic ones for 200 or 300 calories better than diving into food which will sit there undigested..btw best protein powder that actually tastes good is NATURES WAY METABOLIC RESET I make with 2% blend with ice maybe some fruit and its awesome..hope this helps!
