Multichip LED, Remote Phosphor - Guess who it is.

Yeah, I've actually been eyeing the Soraa MR16's. I know they are overpriced, and their lumens/W ratings are horrible because of all the near-UV, but I'd actually kind of like to buy a few for the flower room and one for the veg room. Little ~10W spot lights you can aim at plants, or certain bud site clusters. You could attach them to the corners of your tent, little 1' bendable arms, or something. They are releasing 120VAC, 60 degree beam angle versions soon. Violet pump White LED's have such nice Blue spectrums. Because they use a Blue phosphor they have a very broad coverage which I think plants would enjoy a lot. Yuji also says they make 9W Violet pump multichips. They do, however, make 100W Blue pump multichips. I'm asking why and if they can make a higher wattage Violet pump product. I'd actually kind of prefer just a ~50W multichip for flower and ~10W multichip for veg. Maybe a mix of 2700K Violet pump, 2700K Blue pump if possible. I know they are different phosphor mixes, so that'd be the same as selective phosphor coating, or having two entirely different CCT mixtures on one multichip. Yet if they could do that it'd be really neat.

Or maybe the Kessil brand of lights (45W-90W). Those are really cool. Illumitex (~10W arrays, versatile in W/ft^2 if done DIY).

I'm liking it! I basically wanted to confirm that while the LED bulbs are good, there are more efficient long term strategies.

Yo! Is this P def?

qxbc.jpg8lkc.jpgbx83.jpg6yg1.jpgd0np.jpg

One plant has severe-to-moderate symptoms and is producing a lot of bud. Most of these pictures are of a plant with severe symptoms. Dark Red/Purple stems, petioles, veins, and even purple splotching on leaves. Yellowing leaves that curl under ("Claw") which eventually become limp/shriveled and I'm forced to remove. Stunted growth and flowering overall. Similar symptoms to my last grow, actually. Flushing didn't seem to help long term. No bugs that I'm aware of. Rooms vitals are fine, been keeping up on the yeast jug, too. No idea right now.

Looks like n, p, k, molybdenum deficiencies. Kelp will help with k and moly. Add n and more of p with what ever you are using.

Cool, thought is was P, gave them all some high P guano. Will make a tea with some N, K, and Moly to give to the two girls showing symptoms.

My opinion (for what it's worth) is to ket some fresh worm castings if possible, make a slurry, and pour over. This shouldn't constitute an over-water.

Surprising what a worm compost drench will do to right things. If a soil is built to rely on microbes rather than bottles, you don't see this much, as the humus acts as such a huge buffer. Without the role of microbes, you can quickly get outta whack, just like with hydro.

I have some earthworm castings. I used them in my last batch of tea I'm pretty sure. Since my plants are looking for N I guess I could throw some in this round too with a little bit of blood meal.

I would like to buy in the near future:
Liquid Kelp/Seaweed extract
Humic Acid
Fulvic Acid

Commercial anything is suspect in my mind. I don't use blood and bone meal anymore. Fish and plant meals. And I use the same soil over and over.. Dirt cheap!!

Ugh. The girls in flower look like crap (as does their mom). Lights are off right now in flower, though, and I forgot to take pics. Maybe tonight. For now, just the veg'uns. Notice the LST in pic 4. Overall, nice growth, just a little slow.

On a separate note, there was talk of an LEC 315W CDM fixture and it got me wondering. I saw this 500W RX7s floodlight in my garage and thought, "Hey, maybe I can hook a ballast up on that cord and run a CMH bulb for cheap." The SPD's of the Philips RX7s bulbs don't look as good as the 930 G12 Elite's, though, and they're about just as expensive. I've been toying with the idea of more light and have been eyeing Violet pump White LED's, however, due to price in one circumstance, and failure to produce a 1W package within a timely fashion in another, I've decided to add some CMH to the tent to compliment the 100W RP spotlight as primary overhead lighting. I spent ~$120 on a 150W/930 Philips G12 Elite bulb, a photography flash reflector, G12 to E27 adapter (hope the bulb doesn't stick out at all with the adapter, I don't know the depth of the reflector/length of the bulb exactly), and 150W metal halide ballast. I don't plan to run any cooling, just an open, vertically oriented bulb.

Gonna have more light than I can run all at once pretty soon. Might think about splitting the veg tent in half to provide separate areas for moms and clones/veg. Dunno yet. I'll move the 50W Warm White back into veg, run a Merry panel over the moms, and have about ~78W/ft^2 in flower. Sounds good, but modding the veg tent might be a little tricky, who knows. Air flow seems like a problem...

How come the flowering ladys are not doing so well? Is it the light or the soil maybe? Maybe they are infected with a Virus, dont know if that's possible or not?

Yeah, at first it was just clawing and nutrient defs, but now I'm not so sure. One girl wilted a LOT of leaves and looks sickly. Possibly adverse effect of tea foliar application. Pity, she was flowering the best. Another girl is showing nute def symptoms as well. The last plant looks relatively healthy, slight clawing, but not much else. And yet for how long she is into flower she's really not that far at all. The other two girls are much further along it seems, so something's wrong with her, too.

Tbh, I haven't got much of a clue what's wrong with any of them. So far, though, I'm not digging this Chiesel strain too much. It seems picky as hell. I don't remember it being this hard.

Anyway, check it out. I modded the veg tent. :hump:

I have the same little fan, but mine is black :0

The tower fan underneath it pushes more air. Got it at Walgreens. Also at Target there are these little fans on clearance for about $5.50 that push about as much air as the Flippi V6, just has a wider flow of air. They are quieter, too.

I think these little fans are really good for the buds, very weak air flow so the dry out but not too quick, I think I am getting another big push of resin on my plants.

Yeah, I like them, too, my flowering plants just grow over them, they take up very little space. I would just buy more of the cheaper fan at Target. Similar performance, less noise, less money.

I think a long tall circ fan would be great as it also fans the lower branches. Doesn't take up much space either
