Right so after the little bit of trouble with the ol' RIU and other V-Bulletin hack here is my re-done journal.

Sorry I don't Have pics of the girls at the moment BUT I will do soon!

OK So I'm going to have to describe the beginning of this grow as the pics were deleted when the site was restored so here we go. (I don't keep hard copies as all my images have been "downloaded from other sources" XD)

Initially I had a Violator Kush and G13 Sour Candy going but the first batch didn't pop the ground so got tossed out, next step was to buy another batch of seeds I got the Violator and the Sour Candy again with a cotton candy freebie, they all popped but the Violator died as the seed casing got stuck on the sprout, I gently removed it but a bit too late and she died.

To replace the Violator I got a Barney's Farm - Amnesia Lemon which came with a Dinafem - White Widow free so they all got popped in the dirt successfully hatched and are all growing happily. Which pretty much brings us up to date (it was only a month lost).

So far the Sour Candy and Cotton Candy are on week 2 of veg, and the Amnesia Lemon and White Widow are on week 1 of veg, only problems so far are a touch of nute burn that's not getting any worse due to a slightly nutrient rich soil which has been flushed a few times now so should only have minor traces left.

Only real pics I have left of this go round and they are of the build/framework as you can see:

SAM_1019.jpgSAM_1017.jpgSAM_1015.jpgSAM_1014.jpg

Don't worry I'll have something up more worthy of your time in a week or so :)

Latest Update:

Week 2, Day 3 - Veg

So far so good is all I can say, waiting another week to top (see how big they are 1st)

One more new item of business on the agenda, I made a decision to go soil plus if I have soil with passive hydro (hempy's) touch wood I'll get the best of both worlds with the yield of hydro and the taste of soil, I'm using a mix of semi-organic nutes.

Plus soil is ridiculous cheap compared to perlite, 180 litres of soil for £10 (3x 60l bags on sale) vs 20 litres of Perlite/Vermiculite £10 (a bag of each at £4.98 a bag)

But here ya go!

SAM_1085.jpgSAM_1083.jpgSAM_1081.jpgSAM_1086.jpg

As labelled if they're clear enough for you to read :)

White Widow and Cotton Candy are going into flower in a weeks time. I'm planning on getting a plastic storage box to put on the top of the cab to house the ballast, carbon filter and extraction fans! Once I have this I can bust out the big gun :D well the 250w cannon XD or HPS whichever you prefer!

AHA! Just going to stick in a few pictures of the cab up and running as they all got lost in the hack too :)

New Shed under construction as of 22nd March (tomorrow)

Finally got a bit of £ in, going to get materials 1st thing, then building my storage shed to put this box in so I can finally run my flower chamber, the reason I couldn't in the 1st place was because of how loud the fans were and I need to fit the carbon filter on which, in the current state of affairs, would mean the carbon filter would be on the outside of the box, so if it rained... you get the point :)

The new shed should muffle the sound and will double up as another large flowering chamber one day when I can afford a 400-600w light setup :D

Week 3, Day 1 - Veg

Keeping Mothers.

Shed is now complete the setup is now fully stealthed and almost secure, just need a fat lock and job done.
Nothing new really. Cotton Candy and White Widow are now in the flower room, just to test run it for the 1st few weeks, mums are still vegging going nicely.

Also I just ordered a 14cm PC fan for circulation blowing over the plant tops and over the bulb, hopefully this will direct the heat from the bulb into the exhaust as my temps have been hovering around 29-30*C but the plants aren't stressing about it, no signs of heat stress etc. I'd just like to get the temps more optimal for the main batch, main reason for putting my freebies into the hotbox :)

Think that's all that's left to say so here are some pictures:

SAM_1104.jpg

SAM_1108.jpgSAM_1107.jpgSAM_1106.jpgSAM_1105.jpg

Kicking ass and taking clones...

As of 27th March I've topped the Sour Candy for 4 main colas, and done a minor experiment just to see how small of a clone you can take and make root using a rather ingenious 2 litre bottle;

Step 1 - Cut the top off the bottle, put the lid on
Step 2 - Fill up 3/4 of the way with soil
Step 3 - Plant clone with desired rooting hormone
Step 4 - Place the top back on but inside the main bottle so you get handy humidity dome.

Mist twice a day and job done, lets see if this bitch roots, pics to come end of the week.

That's it for now, Stay Frosty!

You should get a cheap 4 inch clip on fan, doesn't have to be oscillating but that option is pretty nice lol. Mine are just normal point n blow clip on fans, got them for 10-11 USD. Since you're working with a box though, you might want to pick up a retractable shower rod to stand vertically or horizontally to clip your fans onto. This will make adjusting the fan position easy peasy. If your heat still rises, you're going to want to look into more CFM's for exhaust. You can circulate the air all day but if it's not exhausting/extracting fast enough you're just trapping it with back pressure. Not trying to tell you what to do, just some helpful suggestions.

Thanks for stopping in... Yeah all that stuff is already done :) just waiting on delivery, my fan replaces the air in the chamber pretty much every minute lol it's a bit over rated for this space but it works, I drilled some more passive intakes... a lot more and temps (without the carbon filter attached) have gone from 35*c down to 25*c, with the filter attached it's 30*c, but once I have my circulation fan in there it should be about perfect.

On another note, I've basically built myself a hydro ebb & flow setup just waiting for the pump to arrive. I plan on using it for my next grow with 8 plants (2 every 2 weeks) for a perpetual harvest. I've been looking around for average yields doing 12/12 from rooted clone, I guess about 1oz a plant but people have gotten 50g per plant so I'm curious.

The reason I'm waiting for my next grow is at the moment I am flat broke and can't afford hydro specific nutrients or the hydroton (even a cheap 10l bag) so eventually I'll have the perpetual set up and running.

Here's some pics of it anyway:

SAM_1110.jpgSAM_1111.jpg

I have a bigger tray that I am going to use instead of the one that's on there, this one can only support a max of 6 rooted clones, the bigger one can fit 8-10, res with this tray is 14 litres with the other tray its 20 litres it just looks good because this tray sits perfectly in the res :)

It's all built to fit in my micro cab, can't wait to get it running.

Total cost including the pump was £17.50 which is a rather successful cheap out sesh, for what it can handle XD

Yeah you should be yielding tons more with hydro vs. soil. Ebb and flow works well, Grazz I believe is on a setup like that. Are you going to invest in anything to keep your res temps in check too like a nano chiller? My grow partner Mind pulled a pretty impressive amount I want to say around 10 oz's from one plant, from his AJ 250w DWC grow. Hydro can yield ridiculous results if done properly for sure.

Sucks you're broke dude, hate when that happens lol. I'm currently saving for the next round too, as I'm going to need more soil bah!! Anyway I'm subbed so I'll be following along here and there :-D.

haha awesome, I've only used passive hydro with cheap soil nutes I had from my 1st go with soil lol just hoping my rooted clones yield more than 1 oz each (when I get there)

The only thing I'm using to control res temps is an aquarium heater for the winter and frozen water bottles for summer, both of which I already have/can make XD

That's the main reason I want to switch to hydro, save buying so much medium all the time, if you get hydroton you can just wash it each grow and rockwool costs nothing.

Haulin' Water!

Just finished my Ebb and Flo system with a new tray and it works amazingly!
All thats left is the medium, nutes and some research and I'm done.

Got a cool pump that sucks in air as it runs giving me tonnes of tiny air bubbles, well pleased with it XD

As of today (30th March) - I thought fuck it, brought the medium I want to use went for the hydroton and 2 metres of rockwool slab that I can cut to whatever size I need which will be 3" x 3" cubes which are perfect for what I need so I'm going to start this perpetual business as soon as they arrive. Going to see if I can borrow some hydro specific nutes from a friend!

For my proper nutes when I have the money I'm going with the HESI Hydro range (I can get a 'starter kit' for £40 with veg, bloom, pk, root stim and micro nutes) and canna boost OR advanced nutes big bud I'll see...

Week 4 - Veg

Here's an update for ya!

Right first off, the cotton candy didn't make it. She was demonstrating the 'qualities' of a runt, plus she didn't agree with the nutrient setup I'd been feeding the rest of them so I culled and composted her.

Transplanted the Sour Candy into a 2 litre hempy bottle as it's better in the space, also topped her and she's growing back nice and strong as you would expect!

Took the White Widow out of flower and stuck her back into veg as I decided to keep her as a mum, especially seeing how strong she is growing.

Amnesia Lemon is plodding along wonderfully, I'll be topping her in another week.

Plans for the Future

I have worked out a nice perpetual cycle. I have set up the new flowering room with the mini Ebb and Flow table and that's all working beautifully.
The system requires me to take 2 clones a week (1 from the sour candy and 1 from amnesia lemon) so that they have 1 week to root and 1 week to veg, they then go into the flower chamber at 2 week intervals to (hopefully) yield 1-5 oz every 2 weeks depending on how well they do in the new setup. If people can get 3+ oz per plant at 12/12 from seed I don't see why I can't match or even do slightly better that that at 12/12 from rooted clone and a week veg, still if I get 1oz a plant I'll be happy, ecstatic if I get more :D

I may add another mother so I can alternate strains more and give the sour candy and amnesia lemon time to recover more between cuttings.

If they start getting out of control I have the screen to train them to so all is good :)

Anyhow, enough reading for 1 update here are some pics:

Clone bottle soon to be replaced with 3" rockwool blocks. And my micro clone experiment (this ones probably going to a friend if it survives)

Right that's all folks!

Great update MB, glad you got a perpetual in the works. Not only will you yield, but it'll be a constant flow which is ALWAYS nice lol.

Thanks, it'll be awesome :) just takes a good few weeks longer to get the mums big enough and then another week or 2 to root and veg lol. Will be worth it!

Came into £100 yesterday so got my nutes and a PH pen! I'm absolutely ready now!

I transplanted the sour candy into a smaller pot though but it was a hempy pot which makes a world of difference in a small rootzone as the roots don't need to stretch for nutrients there's a constant supply in the inch of res. But she's taking a while to recover, been slowed down by at least a week :/

Lesson learned, start her in the 2 litre hempy pot in the 1st place and job done!

Yeah hempy pots do make a difference for a small root zone, coco works well for that too. Clones are totally worth it, I need to stop slacking and post my recent clone pics in my journal. I took 10 clones, 8 w/ Clonex and Rapid Rooters and 2 in just cups of water with no root hormone at all. 3 or 4 of the Rapid Rooter clones have rooted, the ones in cups have bumps so they are just starting to develop.

Good news on the nutes and pen!!

Can't wait to see you take off in bloom, should be good times.

lol thanks :) yeah I can make a stealth grow ANYWHERE, using a few meters of OSB and some 2x4 timber frame :D

Looks like Stelthy's cab to me there (eventually turned it into a 600w 'drobe), if my memory serves me well XD

Updates of all the topped plants coming tomorrow, they are all topped now including Amnesia Lemon, made a nice clone in another genius clone jar :)

Week 5 - Veg

The small tops I cloned aren't looking great, I chucked the sour candy clone/top 'cause there were no roots and no sign of roots after a week and a bit. Keeping the white widow top/clone as she still has a few more days till I decide to chuck her or not. Topped the amnesia lemon and cloned the top, this was a nice tall'ish clone so hopefully she'll root and be all gravy!

I also drilled a whole bunch of (bigger) passive intake holes in the floor because the room is very airtight, the exhaust fan was struggling, now it runs a lot quieter and has dropped the temps in the cab by another 5*C so I'm at a perfectly controllable 20-25*C (on a reasonably hot day)

Finally, I've ordered all of my nutrients now, went for Advanced Nutrients - Jungle Juice and Advanced Nutrients - Big Bud (130g powder) PH Pen arrived and I tested my water, going to have to do some experiments as it came out at 7.3, need to reduce it a bit :)

I'll be taking 1 proper clone from the sour candy next Saturday once the branches have matured a bit more on the mum, this will go straight into flower once rooted along with the AL clone if she roots (the AL will have 1 week veg by then) I just want to get this perpetual setup rolling so I have a maximum of 2 weeks until I can start flowering.

Then it will be take 2 clones a week, root, veg for a week, flower so there are always 2 rooted, vegged for a week clones going into flower every 2 weeks and 2 fully flowered plants coming out every 2 weeks (eventually) XD

Can't wait!

Think that's all for now folks, stay tuned and most of all Stay Frosty RIU!

Advanced nutrients arrived today! Can't wait I might actually stick the white widow in flower in a day or so, seeing as I can mix up a res of this stuff :) Changed my mind again lol as nice as it would be to have a white widow mum, I don't see there being enough space for 3 mums, shame really.

Plus I could really do with a yield asap got the car insurance coming again soon lol.

Minor update: Amnesia Lemon clone didn't make it I think I've been using too short clones, well as I said before it was an experiment and it clearly didn't work lol. I've since taken 2 clones of sour candy while the rest of the girls grow enough back to make some more clones.

Think that's it, next update, end of week or so, see how it goes!

I gave up on that clone it just kinda flopped.. but I was taking the lid off once or twice a day blowing into it to circulate air and capping it again. It does make a near perfect environment the only problem is it's a little bit too warm for clones, though if you can keep them at a reasonable temperature it'll work well I think, based on observation :)

Did 2 new ones and they're in a propagator now.

Thought of drilling holes in the plastic not glass, for one I don't have any sharp enough drill bits to drill glass and 2 they're quite expensive over here so basically not an option :)
