Mr Grow Pro (LED) - First grow

I'd say the sooner the better. You don't want the trichs to start degrading. I harvested mine at 85 days the smoke was bomb.

My girls started showing pistels 4 days ago and are coming along great. I have a question though for you guys who have completed a grow with the LEDs or are closer to harvest. Do your colas on the outsides of the case grow as much as the center ones? I have about 12-14 colas in there right now and I scrogged them so some of the colas are right along the edge of the case.. Once they start growing up, should I be maybe tying them a little closer towards the center or were the edges still growing pretty well? Also, how is everyones grow coming along?

I think it's fine being on the side. Either way would be ok. Just depends if you have the room to do it I guess. The coverage area is pretty good in that box.

Day 106

I don't know what's going on with them lately, they don't seem to be doing anything other than the odd leaf dying. I have been giving them nutes again but only 1/2 the recommended mix. I'm still waiting for my loupe to be delivered to I can check the trichromes but maybe they're ready now? I can't tell but this might be as good as this crop is going to get!

They look pretty close. How much longer until your loupe gets in?
Hopefully tomorrow or the day after. There seems to be a lot of dead bud leaves - you think that's because of the nute burn from a few weeks ago still affecting it? I cant see why else they are dead, the nute burn seems to have really taken its toll :(

It could be that combined with the natural procress. Leaves will start dying towards the end. I think your fine to wait til your loupe gets in and then decide.

Gah im late, but whatever I will join along for the funsies!! I have pulled a few harvests now from pc boxs/small cabs and what it looks like is that there may be some heat issues combined with overwatering/nute burn.

From what I can see in the pictures you have posted the highest exhaust fan is about 1/3 to 1/2 way up the case (If im missing an exhaust fan somewh, which is the glaring issue here. The hottest air in your growpro is located at the top which means you aren't actually exhausting the warmest air in your case and if anything are probably pulling the warm air down onto your plants more. This will stress your plants out, making them more susceptible to other ailments, especially if those have to do with the water content of the system (your plants roots/soil).

When the plant gets too hot it will adjust the small openings in its leaves to compensate for the heat by essentially sweating. So if you are giving the plant nutes and water during this heat stressed period you are actually furthering the stress caused on the plant because it was trying to self regulate and then the system it was now getting used to gets changed. It really is a vicious cycle until the heat problems are solved.

So now what needs to be done? First of all at this point in the grow your plants really dont have time to recover properly so now its on to damage control, so I would shut the lights off completely regardless of what you see in terms of trich color unfortunately. As of me writing this its been about 80 days of flowering which is a long time so your plants are likely done maturing anyways. If you want to try something to increase the potency you can try leaving them in the mrgropro with the lights off for 12-48 hours (keep fans running at least a few hours a day).

This darkness will do a few things for you: 1) your plants will freak out and think the world ended, which will make them put all of their energy left into producing bud (because they are trying to get laid obviously) 2) Light actually degrades trichomes and THC (the plants make them to to absorb light damage) so in combination with #1 you will get some more potency out of this round and finally 3) it will start your drying and curing process (dont give them anymore water just turn the lights off).

Sorry for the wall but I hope this helps!

tldr; put an exhaust fan higher up in the case, your plants are probably fully mature (think about harvest or darkness period)

Hey thanks for the feedback! Yeah I am going to try an add an extra exhaust fan higher up the case next time, so hopefully that will stop them getting heat stressed. I think you're right, I gave them too many nutes at the same time as they were already stressed, which really upset them :(
The loupe has arrived - I don't really know what to look for I have been reading online but can't make much sense of it all. I can see a lot of trichomes on both plants so they could be ready. They definitely smell and look ready. I have just watered them again so I think once they've dried up a bit I will do the darkness technique you mentioned and then harvest!

I'm still pretty happy with the yield for my first grow, it could've been a lot worse so I'm very optimistic for my next one, it should be a shorter grow and higher yield :D

For the future when you're using a loupe you are looking for the color of the trichomes, there are 3 basic stages of color: clear, milky, and amber(orangeish). Basically you just look at your buds and try to estimate what percent each color of trichome makes up of the total quantity of trichomes. Most people's cue to harvest is when they get about 10-25% amber depending on preference as amber is the most mature color of trichome (partially degraded).

I personally look for about 10-20% amber, 60-70% milky, and 15-20% clear. once the buds show that combination I know they are right where I want em.

Oh I see, well I didnt see any amber ones, most of them were milky so they must be very close to ready now :) will keep checking them daily.

In your case idk how much will be amber as your plants have been stressed so they might not finish up normally, just something to consider. Cant wait to see how your harvest comes along though, good luck man!

Thanks :D I might harvest this weekend depending on trichromes, I'll post a full update with before/after pics when the time comes. I might just cut one top off and sample it to see if it's ready first before chopping it all down.

I harvested it all Yesterday :) I dont have a scale so not sure of the weight but its pretty good considering what they've been through.

Smells very dank! Most of it was 'popcorn' so it took me a while to trim. In the process of drying now, cant wait to have a smoke!!

Congratulations man! Looks really nice I hope it gets you high as hell :)

I have also just harvested going to have to dry trim it all as I didn't have time tho! Happy days!

Nice grow man. What was the final dried weight? Also, how well does the stock Carbon Filter work? I plan to order one of these cases but I am a bit worried about the smell once it starts flowering. Wondering if I am going to have to add another better Carbon Filter.

Thanks :) The dry weight is just over half an Oz. The smoke is nicee, fruity and uplifting high.

The carbon filter is pretty good, I think the strain you choose to grow will be a big factor in the smell. I chose Critical Mass which smells quite sweet and not too strong. If you're planning on growing something like Cheese or Skunk then you'll want to look at a better filter. Mr Grow Pro uses a carbon filter out of a microwave, so if its real stinky then it may leak out, similar to if you re heat indian or mexican food, the potent smell will leak out of a microwave. Hope that helps, good luck with your grow!
