The LEDs change so FAST and the quality is getting better all the time BUT, to actually go out and buy a set may not be the best idea yet......There getting there BUT, your still going to do better with your HPS......You might contact member @churchhaze as he is the resident guru on LEDs......He builds his own banks and they are the most efficient out there......COB systems?

There are many members now with more efficient arrays than me now, but the bottom line is that 600W HPS is a hard value to beat. Most of the cheaper units you can buy prebuilt are less efficient than a 600W HPS. Without having an exact idea of what you want to do, I'd just stay with 600W HPS for now.

3 mars 1200w vs 3 hps 600w
Same power drew.. Better results for mars ?
I personally would rather use 3x600W HPS than any amount of MARS panels. You have to put quite a bit more effort and money into LED to make it more efficient than HPS and thus producting less total heat. You might want to go that route if you enjoy DIY or just enjoy tinkering, or you live in a very hot climate, but it could take 3-5 years to pay back the difference you'd save in electricity so it doesn't make sense for someone who is just trying out growing.

HPS is still the main conventional power house for production despite newer, underdriven leds being more efficient... but it's also a suckers game right now and there are so many crappy products that are less efficient than HPS and produce poor results in comparison. Without more in depth knowledge of what chips are out there and what bins are, you're likely to get suckered out of a lot of money, when HPS is known to produce great results with moderately high efficiency (beating most cheap red+blue led arrays).

You can look in to the Osram Oslon Zelion HLs. But you're paying about $900 to cover a 3x2' space. Worth it for me but I'm obsessed with effiency.

You can also get some GO Green LEDs for great price using the 15% RUI discount.

Or make your own.

Other than those options I'd go with HID and sweating in your grow room

Only reason I was ever thinking about led was do to my high temps...using a 600w have it turned to 50% in a cooltube with a can-fan and filter I can't get my room to stay below 85f....

Don't do it, like 5 people just said stay with hps. I'm saying it too, don't buy the Mars led. 3 1200w panels from them will be pulling like ~2100watts, more electricity than 3x600s and Id bet a sticky pound that the 3 600s yield atleast 5-10% more weight in that space with 300w less power draw. I sell lights for a living and I have never once sold an LED to an HPS user that liked it better. Not once, I have sold LEDs that people like but not one that has impressed anyone enough to totally switch

Word I thought the 1200 were 700w must be thinking of the 1600 panels, a guy I trust(in terms of growing skill) bought 4 of the panels that draw 700ish watts and has been pulling only 12-13zips per light. He wanted to replace 3 1000 waters and it wasn't really cutting it.
