I don't know where I heard it but I remember someone saying that they always thought the words were
"and to the republic for Richard Stanz" and that at one time he had asked who Richard Stanz was.
The point is that a country full of little tikes mumbling along to something that they have no idea what it means is pretty much useless...who cares!
If you don't believe in god then just don't mumble that part.
My father passed away when I was 2 years old and when we would say the "Lords Prayer" at church we would say "Our Father who art in heaven"........ I thought they were talking about My father.

You are lost, still. God in the Constitution???, It was not even on the Currency at first.
GOD is not a word in the Constitution. GOD was put on the money after the Civil War because of a Church Lobby writing campaign and needs to get the hell off of there, Just a fairy tale from war fear,
It was put in the Pledge as more War Fear during the Cold War. Get it out of the Pledge, also
