Hey everybody! This is my first try at an indoor grow. I have done one successful outdoor grow of a few plants but this is an entirely different challenge!
I have two 30 gallon Rubbermaid containers I am transforming into a modular type grow-box. This is a pretty tight budgeted project, most everything was either scavenged or bought on the cheap. The plan is as follows:
- One bottom piece with fans.
- One top piece with carbon filter.
- One midsection "extension".
- A light hanging setup which can attach to either the bottom piece or midsection.
There will be two containers stacked on top of each other so that when the plants are small, I won't need the top half and can use just one container and as the plants grow I can add the second container to make the box tall enough. The bottom container has two fans on the sides for airflow, and the top has a fan with a carbon filter I made. I am using computer fans and an old computer power supply to power the three fans. All the pieces will be painted gloss white inside and matte black outside.
I have three 24" 2-light CFL fixtures with six 20 watt bulbs (3x 6500k and 3x 3000K). The lights are attached to two hanging fixtures I made which you can see in the pictures. It is very easy to lift the lights out and I will be able to attach to either of the containers. I think the light hanging rig is quite ingenious if you ask me.
I have the bottom and top pieces done, but not the midsection yet, pictures are attached.
The first sprout has popped and I currently have it in a shoe box with a little CFL in it keeping it going until it gets big enough to put in the box. I am growing bagseed, but I hope to get some good seeds after the first trial grow is done if everything goes well.
All comments and criticisms are welcome! (especially on lighting and indoor grow methods)
Thanks for looking!
