Ok, Day 5 and everything is looking great! I started 17 seedlings in Red 20oz plastic cups, All but 2 have sprouted, and 3 others are yellowing and dying. Gave them their first real water the other day, and they loved it, i keep them outside on my roof-patio thing and they love the sunlight, however it does get hot up there so i have to constantly water now, too keep the plants thirst down. Yesterday almost all of them had started to turn yellow, and i gave them 2 waterings a few hrs apart, and by the end of their daytime schedule they had mostly turned back to green except 4 or 5 of em. put em indoors due to cold temps at night here, hot as hell during the day makes no sense...but bring em indoors at night covered the cups with saran wrap since their is an inch from soil-top of cup, and the humidity i think really helped them, as all but like i said, 2-4 of them are still yellow, but the 4 or 5 that were still yellow last night, turned bright green this morning!!! :bigjoint:I was so happy when i saw them this morning!! they look vibrant and alive and im just glad 14 of them are doing really really well. I thought for a couple hrs yesterday i had really done some damage but they spruced back up to life. All the successfull ones have their first set of leaves, beside the seed-leaves, which made me happy also. I hope to flower atleast 8-10 good females with hopes of cloning, using a 600W hps with MH conversion bulb for veg. Like i said i hope to clone these to get many many more buds. The babies are outdoors right now, on a roof so bug free, lots of sun, but next week i plan on bringing them in when i get my lights, My grow area is the bottom half of a closet 3'x3' and 3' tall, sealed off with plywood, painted white on the inside, with just enough room to flower 6-8 mabye ten females, ANOTHER QUESTION - with a 3x3x3' grow box, do you think 1000W would be to much, or is 600 enough? let me know, hopefully i get lots of response, as that is my only real question! everything else is going great, hope to post pics soon! Peace and Love - Mitchell

another thing, the nutes im using for veg are 19-6-12, and the strain is unknown, some really good midgrade seeds, good genetics, hope to get some decent buds, like i said hope though....another thing, i WILL get pics up eventually, along with pics of my grow area, and quick question i know someone knows, should i use a 600W HPS/MH conversion or a 1000W for a 3x3x3 grow area, i plan on using Scrog or fishlines to make a short bushy plant, and also, the 4 plants that are completely yellow, should i discard them or just let em keep trying as sunlight is free and it doesnt cost me anything to continue to let em grow....the nutes have already been put in the soil...

if you keep watering them every couple of hrs they will die. Your drowning the roots. I put my plants in 16 oz red cups and I water every 3-5 days and that's in 25-30 percent humidity. That is why they are yellowing. Next they do not need to be fed yet. they are 2 young. Clones yes you can feed early but not seedlings.

Water when they are completely dry. Go get a cheap soil meter from lowes and leave them alone before you kill them. Water when dry and feed seedlings no earlier tyhan 2 or 3 weeks of age. Not 5 days old. Next while you have free time I suggest you do more reaserch on basics of growing weed. Cause you have alot to learn.

dude you dont have to be an asshole...this IS my first time growing, and i already know you cant feed them yet, but i had already mixed with my medium, and they respond well anyways, and they needed that water, as they turned NEON green afterwards, and btw, you need to go learn something on not being a snobby asshole and learn that we all can love the plant, and of course im not going to know everything on my first grow asshole. these were seeds from a smoke sack and like i said i HOPE to produce 6-8 females, this grow was sort of an experiment, but yea, dont be such an asshole

its not like im going to transplant when they are barely at their first set of leave just to get rid of the nutes, the plants are doing well and i only used HALF the recommended nutes anyways, so i think theyll be fine...they are doing really well anyways

I was never a asshole to you dude. You asked for help and I explained to you your actions will kill your plants. Plain and simple. Than I suggested you read some more and learn so your successful. You will not last long here at RIU or get those buds you seek till you elarn tot ake criticisim from those who have made mistakes like your making and learned from them. Good Luck with your grow and don't bne shocked when you find no help and dead plants.

Current grow is 5 bagseed I nicknamed Bioshock. It was from some good mids that had a great "up" high. Germninated 10 but 5 struggled early and died. Its bagseed so it was expected I guess.

Expectations of yield will come as I learn what the hell I am doing. They are low as I realistically understand this will not be easy but once mastered the rewards will be sweet. thats from YOUR first grow, so dont be such an asshole dude

And if you take the time to read my first grow you will see I know what I am talking about. I do not know everything but I know enough to help you get going and not kill them

all im saying is that it sounded like you were kind of rude....i can take constructive criticism, but like i said its my first grow, and i hope to learn a lot...i appreciate the advice, and also had a question, for a 3x3 grow area should i use a 600W or 1000W HID lights? would 1000 be too much heat and stress on plants? just wanted to know before i get the lights

I could not tell you cause I have never used anything but a 400 w hps. Cooling is always a concern so if you can run ducting and proper cooling you always go for more watts.

Next my concern when I came in was for your plants. All of us new growers make the same mistakes. We try to solve everything with watering. and not leaving the plants alone. It can take 3 days for your actions to show up. the plants are 5 days old and already on a roller coaster. Take it slow. Do not react top every up and down right away. Try to take pics as well so more experts here can help. But you need to get some tools.

water meter
ph meter

you want to use the meter to tell you when they are dry. Check 3 or 4 places in the soil and if nay place says moist let them go another day. These are not wet plants. They like to get dry than have a nice big drink. The roots need to breathe.

You need to test the ph of the water you give them. Improper ph can lead to all kinds of problems and dead plants. Ph between 6 and 7.

Let you tap water sit out 24 hrs chlorine burns the leaves.

Those are the starters to getting them growing. patience and hands off are key. patience. Get pics so we can help more

yea, im going in about 3 days to get my lights, meters, and fresh medium mix for veg and flowering, also thinking about switching to liquid nutes, hopefull will get pics sometime shortly after....oh, and btw i use purified bottled water, ph of 7, so im hoping that from the time now to when i get a ph meter the soil is ok, but like i said 14 of the plants have gotten their first leaves beside the seed leaves, and their all a really bright green color, so im hoping everything ive done is ok, and as for now, without the moisture meter, i wait until the topsoil is completely dry, they seem to be growing a lot at night time when they are in complete dark

thinking about getting all my shit from http://florahydroponics.com/, but its weird, because the budget grow lights the 600W and 1000W are the same price!!!! isnt that crazy? gta be some sort of error ya know?, thats why i dont know what one i wanna get, but i think ill go with the 600W HPS with a conversion bulb jsut because my area is 3'widex3.5'long x3' tall:!:

Sounds good. Just remember to not do to much. Don't feel like you have to do something all the time. As a grower we give them the right environment and stand back. have fun.

Once you start doing it it gets easier. And routine. bongsmilie

what size room do you use the 400W in?

Stephen, check out htgsupply.com and see if you like anything from there. They have about the cheapest prices I have seen anywhere. Also, a 1000w would probably be too much for a three foot cubic area. The heat that a light that powerful produces is massive. It would be next to impossible to keep you temperature at optimum levels unless you had a super powerful exhaust fan. Hope this helps!

cool, then a 600W will be perfect for 3'x3'x3', mabye a 1000W, but i have no vent but fans, 3 8-inch fans to be exact, 2 to circulate air, and 1 for outtake, hopefully i can get vented lights

key word, mabye, i think 1000W is to much, to much heat
