Michigan Politician and Their Stance on Marijuana

Again I'm not a R or a D.

Repub candidate for SOS Paul Scott is trying to call for a 'Tea Party Caucus'. The tea partiers have said that they are not a party, just a loose group of like minded individuals. So this would be a Repub attempt to 'takeover' the term Tea Party, just like the Dem's just got caught trying to do.

He is trying to ride in on their coattails. He has not positioned himself as 'pot' friendly. But, I truly do not know his stance.

I just hate it when a politician is a sneak.

EDIT-It looks like some of the tea partiers are having a 'caucus' get together. The tea partiers that won delegates seats and alternates are meeting before the R's caucus, but everyone is welcome. BTW, they froze the Mi Repub Chairman Ron Weiser out of his delegate seat! He is going as an alternate. Delegates from his area have said they will be there and he will not be seated.

The bust in Ferndale and Waterford proves we need to be very aware of who is MMJ friendly and hold their feet to the fire. GG

I agree it's important to look for candidates who are pot friendly. I don't think we will get someone to speak growing and shop with us, but someone who at least sees the benefits of decriminalization and usefulness as a medicine.

Govenor- Rick Snyder - I don't know his stance on MMJ

Lt. Govenor-Brain Calley-Don't know his stance either. The Tea Party put up their choice,
businessman Bill Porter, he did not get the nod for many reasons, not the least being the old guard ran the caucus and got their way. Maybe next time the Tea Party will have more control from the stick in the mud R's.

Both are from the westside of the state, maybe someone from there can give us an answer about them.

Attorney General - Former Congressman and former Court of Appeals Judge Bill Schuette is running. I believe he is from the Saginaw area, we need input on his stance on MMJ.

Secretary of State - Ruth Johnson. She is a good choice for SOS. She will repeal the Enchanced Driver's License, which is a very good thing. It has the ability to contain everything about you, health records, convictions, CPL, married, kids, etc. She believes that non-citizens should have a driver's license that looks different that one that is held by citizens to protect voters rolls and other services. SOS will not affect MMJ, but it will have the ability to control the information the police get about us. IMO, she is the person for this job. Also, she is for Gun Rights.

MI Supreme Court - Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Mary Beth Kelly. Don't know much about her either.

MI Supreme Court - Sitting Supreme Court Judge Robert Young. He is a strict constitutionalist and that maybe a good thing for us. He goes by the book. He decisions will be based on law. At least we will have his record to look at.

The other statewide races will not affect MMJ. Stay informed. Next up the D's

Gov - Virg Berneo. Mayor of Lansing. Don't know his stance on MMJ or much else since he came out of nowhere.

Lt. Gov - Brenda Lawrence, Mayor of Southfield. I have no idea on her stance on MMJ. Does someone out there know. Southfield does have clinics, so... My impression of Southfield was formed a while ago. I was going to be a consultant for a company in Southfield whose property was being overrun by a non-native, invasive species that is overtaking their open spaces and pond. Southfield didn't want anyone playing in their space some of it on private property. It was better, they thought, to pay for services and use city employees than to use volunteers or free paid services. So if this is an indications of how things will be run...

Secretary of State - Jocelyn Benson. She is a law professor and an attorney. She has not made any public statements on Enhance License or anything else. But, I expect that she will very soon.

Attorney General - David Leyton. Genessee County Prosecutor, Ex-Flint Township Trustee and Attorney. I have to be honest I never heard of him. Maybe someone can tell us something about him.

As soon as I find a listing of district candidates I'll post it. It is these seats that really matter in the MMJ fight.

I checked the Virg Bernero and Rick Snyder websites. There is no mention of there stance on Marijuana although both have different ideas for Michigan's health care plan.

Virg is very pro medical cannabis, period.

Snyder said in response to medical marijuana.... "I don't want to deal with social problems".
He will have to deal with it but his party has a lot of pressure on him to keep MM restricted as much as possible.

CFL posted this on RAIDED

6299, 6394 were non starters because the attorney, Jones, found it illegal to 'effect' the law in this way. It gets into a lot of legal stuff. They were fall out after the Dagitt case.
616, 618 Were Kuipers attempt at a money grab but fell through because they never would get 75% approval for these bills. And 5288 and 9 were Kuiper kling ons before they realized they were wasting a lot of time.
These last ones might fly someday if we mess up enough and they also get the pharmaceutical plant based drugs on the market and also reschedule cannabis. It has a potential to bring in huge amounts of money for the 10 producers and kill home based growers.

CFL, also, posted this on RAIDED

The major thing to remember is that any bill will need a 75% majority to pass. That is almost impossible because if they think they can get 75% which is rare, they add some BS and never get the 75%. Meadows tried to go around that with separate bills 6299 and 6384. Jones figured it was illegal to effect the law this way and they moved on from that.
We are safe as patients and caregivers registered. The only thing the feds have done was a raid on a caregiver that had a lot of plants, over 100. They didn't press charges. When the media confronted the feds for a statement they just said "He had a lot of plants". Go figure....
The political climate we have now will keep the people who try to stretch the law beyond how it was written on the sidelines one way or another. If we stick with compassion clubs at libraries just helping patients with their questions and paperwork etc., keep our growing below 100 plants, keep our usage to private places, we are 10 foot tall and bulletproof as registered patients and caregivers.
One thing to mention is that there are no accounts of law enforcement busting any patients for giving their extra meds to another patient.

10 plants grown right is enough for 2 to 3 patients if not more. That seems really sensible to me. I like living within the law.

it is not enough if your patient does not smoke. If you bake, make teas, make pot milk, etc., then you would need more. My brother can not smoke so baking/milk is the only way he can consume his meds. For us 12 plants is about right since we have them at all stages of growth.

Yea you've got a really good point there. I haven't tried cooking or alternatives to smoking because I have not had a large enough harvest. Mostly because I am limited by space and light.

I've never tried to make oil (don't know how). I think the volume of meds required should be based on the size of the plants you are growing, how strong the meds are and how strong the patient wants or need their meds to be.

I know some people can not consume the strong stuff and others do need to stay on stronger meds constantly for muscle spasms.

So I think the ability to grow different strengths and different amounts for different patients is a must for caregivers and 12 plants allows them to do just that.

Personally, I mark the pots my plants are grown in with the patients name and strain on them so if I am ever 'visited' there will be no problem. And, I will be keeping the left over with their names on them and the under the allowed weight. I have not had any extras yet.

Ganja Girl,

Keep up the effort. You seem to have a common sense idea about right and wrong and the current state of affairs affecting Michigan. I, like you, do not have any party affiliation. If anything I would be closer to a libertarian than anything else. I tend to lean to the right when it comes to business, personal responsibility, and taxes, yet lean to the left when it comes to what I want to put in my body. Yet neither left nor right seam to want to leave me the @#$% alone and stay out of my life. You are correct when you say "hold their feet to the fire". We all must take a long in-depth look at all the candidates in our respectful districts. The Founding Fathers had a great idea of a Federal Government only existing for raising an army. Throughout the years both Repub's and Democ's have coerced the government into something that it was never intended to be, and now we find ourselves wondering what the hell happened. We all know that something is wrong in this country, now, for the first time in a long time, we have a chance to really show the government who is in charge. Vote out all incumbents, demand term limits, and tell them to get the Fudge out of our lives. We don't need them to tell us what to do. We existed for 100 years prosperously before Teddy Rosevelt insisted on growing the fed.

Sorry for the long post, just got going and couldn't stop.

To Everyone,

Please listen hard when our candidates speak to us. Hold them accountable. Do not listen to any one or two sources of media for your information, especially the televised media such as CNN, MSNBC, ABC, and FOX as they are all editorials and not journalism. The internet has become the one of the greatest inventions through the spread of knowledge. Everything you could possibly want to learn is out there, so do the homework and the research and become informed. Make up your own opinion based on facts and not feelings. Facts can't be argued against, because they are facts.

Here is my take on what is going on in Oakland county.

L. Brooks Patterson is a king maker or at least fancies himself to be one. His boy, Bouchard went down in flames. Plus, David Law the Oakland County Republican Chairman lost his seat in the Republican state causcus and he is an Patterson insider. He lost his seat at the causcus because of the hard work of the Tea Partiers who learned the rules of the convention-go get'em gang. He attended as an alternate. This definitely shook Patterson's power base. Ever since then Brooks has been about recovering from this definite hit and controlling MMJ gives the impression of that control. He is a tremendous county executive and we should be grateful that he has not jumped ship. His fiscal leadership is impeccable and without him I'm not sure were we would be.

You have to hand it to him his timing is spot on. Patterson has made it very known that he is anti-mmj. Today they moved to MMJ Fest at the Silverdome to Cobo Hall even though 100k to 200k were estimated to come! Never mind that Pontiac could dearly use this influx of money. Plus, the Auburn Hills city manager announced that Auburn Hills will not be MMJ friendly using the premise that L. Brooks used in his legal opinion on the topic. This being the same day that Auburn Hills is almost guarnteed they will lose the Piston and probably a good number of concerts, too, to Detroit.

Don't you wonder how much pressure was put on Pontiac and Auburn Hills? You can bet your bottom dollar that if they ever wanted his help they had to tow the line. The next city up is probably White Lake. White Lake has already made some anti MMJ comments, but said they wanted some resident input.

Then there is Waterford, the last I heard they were leaning towards allowing compassion clubs and some other ancillary businesses in areas zone commercial or industrial in nature. The people of Waterford are not pushovers and might not tow the Patterson line. But, if they are in need of favors all bets are off.

Last I heard, Patterson lives in Independence Twp., if so there will be no MMJ in that township, too.

Just my opinion on Oakland county
