Isn't this great? I mean, it's not that I condone the use of other than MJ unless its cocaine (uncut or lightly cut) for severe pains or heroine for the advanced terminaly ill... but you can carry any type of drug for personal use on the streets and not go to jail. If you get caught 3 times though, you are ordered to go to a mandatory detox program; better than going to jail for sure! I heard a rumor from a local reliable source that they are talking about cultivation for personal use; no more wanting to go back to the states for me :P, this is where it's starting to take off and I'm sure that things will change back home within the next 10 years, till then, I'm kickin' it old western style.:weed: bongsmilie :bigjoint: :joint: :hump: :eyesmoke: :eyesmoke: :eyesmoke:

decriminalisation of certain drugs has worked fine for portugal n spain to various degrees the only problem i foresee is holidaying Americans getting so fucked up they die.

I don't think Mexico had any choice but to "go off the deep end". Being one of our nearest neighbors and sharing a pretty large border means that OUR drug policies have been Mexico's drug policies as well for the last 30 years or so. It's obvious to everyone but US that our drug policies don't work, so hats off to Mexico for doing something smart. Personal use of drugs shouldn't be a "crime". It's not the government's place to tell us what we can put in our bodies.

The main reason that we're still putting people in jail for using drugs is to feed the "corrections" industry, not because drugs are bad and people who use them should be punished.

Anyway, decriminalization of drugs has worked fairly well in Portugal, and it seems that Argentina is on the decriminalization train as well. Hopefully the results in 3 countries will be harder to ignore than the results of just one country.

My God, a bit of sanity in one of the most corrupt countries on the planet. Seems to me, if Mexico can do it, we ought to be able to also, in fact we are as corrupt or even more so than Mexico. If we could just find another crime to fill those corporate prisons.................Uh, maybe gun possession???

i agree...well sort of..if you're pushin heroin or cookin meth, you need to be taken down IMO...that shit ruins lives.
i dont care what your pushing noone deserves to go to jail for possessing or dealing any drug. jail ruins more lives then any drug

meth and heroin ruins live. if youre a user i dont think you should be locked up...but if your cooking meth, or importing heroin, you need to be dealt with.

maybe we should just agree to disagree on this one chitown!!bongsmilie

there is no gray area on this all drugs should be legalized for recreational use depending on what the user is looking for or they should all be ileagle.
