Allrighty, some big changes going on here...haha. I've been wanting to upgrade my veg area, and turn the current one in to a clone box. I mean, the little TV cabinet was a fun project, but I had a brainchild...I think my flowering area can easily accomodate 3, 4, or even more plants, seeing as I have the space and ability to add lights. There is more to it than you can see in the pics, cause i have the myar right up on the plants.

Before anyone starts, I do not have the capability to do any kind of HID grow...My grow area is situated in a 8'wide x 7'deep x 7'tall doorless walk-in closet within a room with limited ventilation, and it retains heat extremely well. I cannot have 4" ducting running through my bedroom to vent exhaust, and I'm planning on my "larger" grow to be outdoors in the spring. This is just a project to kill the boredom of winter and hopefully get me some free smoke while I wait to harvest in fall.

Anyway, I'm upgrading and turning my current veg box into a clone factory. I figure it'll be a good idea to be able to grow a couple more plants and have a little more room to play with. A quick trip to the hardware problem should fix me right up!!

Ok, so a quick trip to the hardware store and we're looking good. I got there 10 minutes before they closed, so I was rushed and only got what I needed for the framework of the area.

Supplies I bought were :

Four sections of 10' long 3/4 inch PVC pipes
Eight 90 degree elbow connectors
8 "T" style connectors.

100_0684.jpg 100_0686.jpg

Yup, 14 bucks!

Shit I still need to buy:

Fan for ventilation
Fan for air circulation so the plants can do the hula all day
Velcro strip, for the light-tight door
1 more powerstrip, light adapters, Y adapters and some more bulbs
More Mylar emergency blankets

Things I had lying around:

One roll of Duck Brand duct tape
Leftover 8mil black plastic sheeting from setting up my previous grow areas

So I started by cutting all the pieces to length. I cut 4 pieces at 42", 4 pieces at 36", 4 pieces at 24", and 8 little 2" pieces to use as couplings. This is how I assembled them and what it looked like. The 2 inch couplings are what connect the "T" pieces to the Elbow pieces. This is my 14 bucks hard at work, and nothing more

100_0689.jpg100_0690.jpg100_0688.jpg

Allright, this next part is fucking weird. I had this black plastic leftover, and I swear, the shit covered this frame perfectly. I didn't measure it or even look at the plastic sheeting until after I had assembled the frame. I trimmed off a 2 in by 8 inch piece, and that was all. Somehow, like it was meant to be this way, it stretched perfectly from one side, over the top, and down to the botom of the other side. Only the ends were missing a little bit.

Anyway, here's the magic of the duct tape...Duck Brand duct tape is the only duct tape for me!

100_0691.jpg100_0692.jpg100_0693.jpg

Just fit perfectly, now to take care of the ends!

100_0694.jpg100_0695.jpg100_0697.jpg

Now I just need to put in the light-tight door...Oh shit, to be continued...I ran out of Duck Brand duct tape!!!

Arch, you want one? Haha, all together once it's done and ready for 6 plants, probably set you back about 65 bucks and 3 hours in labor. Differing prices on bulbs might change regionally. It's about 50 inches wide, 38 inches tall, and 26 inches deep, and barely fits into the room I'm growing in...lol. I'm gonna put the door in later today, after my girl gets off work, cause I'm broke and payday is tomorow. I dont actually need more bulbs and a powerstrip yet, seeing as I only have the 2 seedlings to veg at the moment. I wanna get some spray-on adhesive and cover the inside with mylar, then make a light-tight velcro door. Then if I can just figure out some ventilation i'll have the seedlings in by the end of the night.

Ok, so I picked up the industrial strength duct tape this time, cost me a dollar extra, but hopefully it'll be worth it ;) Pretty much finished the veg tent today. Picked up the following things:

2 Mylar Emergency blankets
1 Can 3M #45 General Purpose spray on adhesive
1 4' section of velcro strip, with adhesive backing
1 Package of 2 industrial strength Velcro Brand patches with adhesive backing
And of course, the all mighty Duck Brand duct tape, industrial strength

The rest of the crap I cannibalized out of my former veg box, except the car windshield shade I used as the ceiling reflector, that thing has been under my bed for 5 years, knew I was keeping it around for some reason.

So here's the mylar. I used the spray adhesive to get it to stick to the plastic. and there's the windshield shade! You can also see the 2 rails i have on the ceiling of the tent, for light placement.

One was the leftover piece of PVC from constructing the frame, and one was an old curtain rod I had lying around. I used those to tie the lights up to, making it not only able to adjust elevation, but slide the lighting around for best effect.

100_0720.jpg100_0721.jpg

Now the ventilation...I'm just using the desk fan from the other veg box, and I cut a passive exhaust. I made a light trap out of a box of Honey Nut Cheerios, but didn't take a picture...lol Also, a pic of one of the velcro patches I'm using to secure the door

100_0719.jpg100_0718.jpg100_0707.jpg

And here are the seedlings in their new home! Quite the upgrade in size, and they look quite lonely in there, so I'm gonna think about starting some more soon. Anyone wanna toss a few extra seeds my way? lol...Lefty is stretching a little bit, but it's all good, not really that bad a case. Hope they like the new digs!

Anyway, clones aren't dead yet, and the buds are getting frosty. I seriously have my doubts as to whether or not Shirley is gonna survive, but the little Kushage clone we dubbed Laverne is gonna pull through, allthough she's scarred for life. No sweat, I have this new project to keep me busy.

Again bro..nicely done. I love it! I wish I could have one but I have to keep mine a little more discrete just in case I get visitors to my grow area. I want it to look as much like another piece of stuff thats stored in that room as possible. I have saved your images though for the day when I can actually use them. Thanks!

Right on, checked out your grow. Looks good. For that many plants, I think something the size of the tent I just built would be good. Just going to take a lot more light. If you have any questions or anything just hit me up.

Ok, so bordering on obsessive, I went back to the hardware store again today. I had the intention of getting 2 more 26w 6500k bulbs for the seedlings, but I ended up leaving with a lot more. I DID pick up the 26w bulbs, but I also spied a 4' T8 2 bulb shoplight...for $9.95...and I bought that bitch in a hurry, along with a 2 pack of 32w 6500k T8 bulbs. Went over to Walmart after that, picked up a nifty plant hanging kit to hang the T8 fixture, a 2 pack of 32w 3000k T8 bulbs and some more velcro. I also picked up a little Powerstrip pack with an extension cord and 3-outlet converter. I have no idea how I'm going to intigrate all this crap into my grow, and it almost seems like I have a surplus of supplies going on right now...but we're gonna try!

Good score! I am avoiding the store right now because I haven't settled on my flower chamber yet. I would end up taking most of it back because I decided to go a different way! :D

Well, that wasn't very hard...That seems to be the going theme of this veg tent...It's all coming together nicely. So I installed the 4' T8 and am currently using it to run one 32w 3000k, and one 32w 6500k.

100_0733.jpg100_0730.jpg

I also just got out the old desk lamp and along with a gheto rigged extension cord lamp they are providing side light for my plants.

100_0734.jpg100_0731.jpg

Of course, all this light is gonna create a lot more heat, considering i more than just doubled the wattage in there. But it's cool, cause my fan was on it's lowest setting so I turned it up to Warp 9, engage! I secured the new lighting with the chains from the flower pot hanging kit, and we're good to go.

Well, my computer just crapped out on me. I knew it was sick, but it's dead now. I'm pissed and don't have another way to get one right now. I'll get back on here as soon as I can, on my iPod touch now.
