I envy you.
I remember when I thought that all was out to ruin the country, and that there was nothing that the government wouldn't do to ruin itself.
I soaked up my propaganda like it was the nectar of the gods, and would never waste an opportunity to diminish the president, or any of his staff.
I would listen to the conspiracy theories (even though I would refuse to believe that they were) and never waste a moment to bring it up in a political discussion.
Yes I was and am a Dem, still to this day, the other guy of course was Bush. I used to look at all the news about his lies, and all the vacation days he took. Saw how he called Osama Bin Laden's cousin 'brother binder' and giving government bids to all of his old buddies. Or how the patriot act was stuffed with thousands of pages at 3 in the morning before the vote on it.
And that was not even the beginning of it.
But when I started to see the same things being applied to the new guy, I realized that there was a great consistency to what what being said.
All (maybe not all, but darn near all) the exact same things were being said about Obama that was said about Bush.
So sit back and enjoy this time of youthful angst, and feel the pride of being the ones that 'knows' everything about the Obama administration.
But when it is all said and done, just remember all that was said. Because chances are you will find 'your guy' in eventually and get to see the exact same responses that you had been using so often, come right back around at you.
And as you sit there and try to explain to the people throwing the slurs, I hope that you will then remember back at this time and realize that it is all bull.
Everything (well almost) is made up to diminish the 'other side' and get your side into office again.
I would say don't buy into the hype, but I know that is not possible, it is just too fun to do. And actually I think that it is good that you get into politics, whichever side it is.
Just remember when it comes around, and they are attacking your guy, and you see a lot of the same things being said that you had once said, or that you find yourself finding falsity after falsity when trying to rationalize with the 'other side', what is happening now.
And then you should be able to relax and see the system for what it is. Nobody is out to screw up the system.
Pick which things are most important for you and stick to those. And study the crap out of them, because it is very important to know the ins and outs of why you feel the way you do, because you might be surprised about how it actually works in the real world.
