tell me about this 70 watt CMH bulb! How hot does this bulb run? Im currently using all CFL's and i need a light like that, the CFL's can only do so much! I just changed my timer to 12/12 hoping for the same results as u!

Very nice! I am subbing. Quick question. I would love to turn my cab into your "every 2 weeks I harvest" cab. How do you operate veg cycle and flower cycle together? I will also look some more into this thread.

Also if I start from seed at 12/12 what does that do?

@xoshua it helps the power bill alot also as soon as the tree matures it starts producing buds instead of the buds growing on the tree the tree almost grows on the buds

are the buds as potent as a plant that has a full veg and then switched to flowering? i just dont see why more ppl dont do this there has to be a catch lolol its to perfect not to

I recall reading some years ago that a plant forced to flower before its technically "mature" will produce weak strength buds. That was a long time ago though and Im sure if it wasnt working maturesmoker wouldnt be doing it this way going on a few years now.

Yea i dont see him doing it for 3 years if it was not good smoke? but it just doesnt seem natural and very quick results makes me feel like the plant has not had time to mature and get all THC'd up!

12 12 from seed does not effect potency at all , the plants still flower for the same amount of time and when they do start flowering they are mature .only thing that is different is the yield , obviousley the more you veg a plant the more bud sites etc they will have .

'sativa high' is correct, 12/12 from seed produces buds of the same quality as conventionally grown buds. He is also correct about lower yield. I have grown under big HPS lamps in my time, with 6 week veg periods and I know that quality is not in any way reduced. I also stand by the fact that CFL grown buds also compare favourably with HPS grown buds if you do it right. I grow 12/12 from seed for 2 main reasons:

1. It's the only way I can have total control over the size of my plants and fit 6 in my small space.

2. I can grow perpetual harvest style in a single cab.

Remember, these plants still take 12 weeks to finish! You are NOT cutting down time, just reducing stretch considerably. They take on average 18 to 21 days to show first pistils and I like to think of that as a 'veg' period, they are growing and putting down roots but not flowering. My strains therefore get 3 weeks before they will show pistils (they are all feminised) and then 9 weeks of flowering, all under the 12/12 cycle. I generally start to tie them down (LST) around 3 weeks and continue to pull them 'down and round' right through flowering to keep them compact and tight. My targets are very simple, I need each plant to produce a solid half OZ dry, and they do. I know growers who can hit a full OZ under 12/12 from seed, by using bigger lamps and bigger pots. My whole point here is achieving a balance between plant size for my space and yield. Over the 12 week cycle I run 6 plants, this gives me my 1oz per month average, often a little bit more. It's 'horses for courses' if you have limited space this is a good solid method of achieving this balance. I smoke every single day from my cab, and have not had to buy weed for many years now That's all I want from it. The other bonus is I get to smoke many strains, often every couple of weeks I get to smoke something different.

I hope this helps. I will try to get some shots of the Ceramic Metal Halide and its small ballast next as they are perfect for small cab grows

Following on from above, I thought it might be a good idea to back up my claims with more evidence! ALL of the pics below are from plants harvested from my cab over the last year or so, when I was growing purely under CFL's. I hope this convinces you of the potential quality of buds grown 12/12 from seed under CFL's ..... if done with a little skill and experience

Do you grow from seed every time because it's illegal? I'm just wondering if you had access to a variety of clones would you go that route instead? Wouldn't flowering 2 or 3" tall clones work quicker? Plus removing the slim chance of getting a male.

Awesome thread! Exactly what I'm looking to do. I smoke roughly an Oz a month, but I'm getting older so it's getting harder to find.

I had a couple of questions though. First off, what type of soil/soil mixture are you using? And secondly, what is your fert schedule? Just as needed or what?

Hat off for your grow plan. This looks like a plan that everyone who grows only for himself should do. This is simple and cheap. I've doubled my flat's electricity bill with my cab. Hopefully it will bring me some yield that I can switch it off for half a year. But next time I will switch it on I will follow your plan. +rep
p.s. One quick question. If I have fem plant that is not auto, can i take clones from it and grow them in the same cab on 12/12 cycle? Then I don't even have to buy seeds anymore.

Hi, this is exactly what im going for, 12/12 from seed with just 1 room, congrats. I have a 150w hps and 4-25w CFLs (2700k).

Its not expensive to you always buying feminized seeds? Im thinking for my next grow to make another cabinet to clone and mother or just keeping buying regular seeds (less expensive). If they weren't so damn expensive i would buy fem just like you.
