Hello party people,. I had made many posts in the past few days regarding my problems,. So now I've decided to make my own thread,.. so here it goes,......

Im growing master kush straight from seeds,. got them through a trustful site on the web started on the 3rd Of February,2009... so far 3 seeds have gone to waste and 1 is in its 13 days and 1 is still waiting to sprout so lets see how them girls do from today on with the RIU help.....

So far this is my set up, 2*23 watt+2*13 watt+42 watt 6500K,.. I have one plant going, and 1 seedling still waiting to sprout.... My temps are always between 69f°-80f° once or twice they went to 96f°
I watered with root hormone every other water,. .. so guys and girls help me out why is it slow

does that container that you have them germinating have any holes in it. can the seeds get air. that may be your problem with the germination. the lights need to be really close and ide also look for something to directionalize the lighe towards the plant. your losing alot of energy/light to the surroundings because you dont have any kind of reflector. make one out of a foil pie plate or something. anything is better than no reflector.

Is this good for reflection? i been looking at many other posts and my plant is doing fairly slow compared to others.. its 2 weeks tmrw.. and the bananas in there because i hear from that it produces a gas called ethylene that promotes females.

its not bad, next time u eat a bag of chips save the bag split it open and wash it off. Ul have a good 2sq ft of mylar from that bag! Where did u hear that about the bananna? Ive never heard such a thing but would love to know if there is any r4esearch backing it up..:bigjoint:

sooo if you wanna make your CFL a little more sucessfull i have found a proper lightshade is pretty important. i went to a hydrostore in town and bought a 1 1/2 foot square parabolic shade for like 50 bucks... you then go to home depot and buy one light fixture its like just a fixture with 2 wires comming out thats insulated.. cut a hole in the to of that shade to fit this fixture.. it has a rim so you can jsut set it on ther and attach a hose clamp to on the other side to keep it thier and then buy 3 light splitters so it gives you kind of a X shape when finished.. this will hold 4 42 watt soft white (2600)K bulbs perfect or i have 2 42 watt and 2 23 watt daylights... bam no lost light and get it like 2 inch awahy from the plant... then for fans.. i found this pretty simple.. i bought 2 of the biggewst computer chassis 80mm i think fans i could buy.. now the dc power supply for these is quite simple.. use a super nintendo adapter and hack off the end.. this addaptor supplys pretty much the rihgt power.. i run 2 fans off of one adaptor wired in paralell this moves quite a bit of air when one used as in and one as out...

oh and i forgot polarity is important when wiring these things note the nintendo adaptor at the back of the bulky black thing.. lol thiers a small diagram that has a line wiht a c and a line wiht a dot and that fits inside the c . at the end of each line thiers a positive or negitive.. on the adaptor i used the dot in the middle was negitive.. this mean that the middle insulated wire is going to be your negitive output..wich you wouild conect to the black and white wires to the fan.. and the outer wire white surrounds the inner insulated wire is going to be your positive output.. also the rating of the adaptor is also on the back of these adaptors ... and any DC adaptor can be used as long as the AMPRAGE stated is LOWER or = what is needed to run the fans.. the voltage can vary up or down by a few a few volts best to get one as close as possible as long as the amprage is not to high.. this will resule in burnt up fans .. possible fires and bad news.. always solder all joints and tape well individulay and then together. and if your not comfortable wiht anything i jsut said i wouldent recomend you wiring anyhting by yourself..

What kind of soil are you using?
i have organic soil,. i picked up my local store,.... its ready mixed,.. on the bag it says after a few weeks i will need to start a fertilizing program on the soil... but the plant is so small right now so im just going to wait till i see when it really needs food...,.. and also one of the seeds i germinated the top to leaves ripped off the little white root the leaves didnt even come out the seed yet. i think it was too moist and i handle them roughly,.. lets see what happens

man i would just get the lights about 2 inches away, i'd use the 2 highest wattage cfls you have an have a fan blowing directly at them at all times. I wouldnt feed them anything but water for about 3 weeks. i am always greedy with water, mary is a drought resistant plant. good luck.

and they look great. good color. just dont overwater them, thats a huge pot you have em in, and the roots will find the bottom fast.. and there will be plenty of water in the bottom of that pot for a while.

King, seriously.....you don't need hoods, reflectors or any nutes at this point. You very "simply" need to keep it slightly damp at all times. Try getting a spray bottle at the Dollar Tree. Just mist around the developing roots lightly several times a day. A seedling is fragile in that its chance of making it solely depends on the proper watering. Forget about the rest at this point.....just get the plant GROWING first.

I'm not so sure about the ethylene gas thing. Yes Ethylene gas is a known plant hormone used to "ripen" fruit i.e. tomatoes, if farmers let tomatoes ripen on the vine they will be rotten before they get to market, so they pick the tomatoes when they are green and place them in a warehouse wih ethylene gas to ripen. I am an aspiring chef (in culinary school) and can tell you for a fact that this does not work. The ethylene gas will make the tomatoes more RED not more RIPE.

Also, I'm pretty sure the the genetics of a plant are implanted in the DNA and cannot be completely changed. I always looked at it like childbirth, when that egg (or seed) is created the sex is already implanted.

This is kinda like the whole feminized seed thing, which from my research it seems may be complete bullshit.

Anyway I don't think it will do any harm (unless it rots created mold) so have at it.
Also it seems you have the process wrong.

"Treatment of seeds with ethylene gas will increase the resulting number of female plants by about 50%. Ethylene is produced by certain plants (i.e., bananas, cucumbers and melons), and these can be used to treat hempseed in a simple manner. About two weeks before you plan to sprout the seeds, place them in a paper bag, and put that in a plastic bag with the peels of a ripening banana or cucumber. Replace the peels after a couple of days, and change the bags to prevent mould."

Disclaimer...these are only my OPINIONS, I am a newb, and have not been growing all that long, but I can google my ass off and spend ALOT of time reading on the net.

i totally get ya,. i got rid of the banana,. and i think i have a low humidity problem the leaves are little dry,. so i keep spraying them with a little bit water every now and then,.. i think its a female,.. its only grown about a inch since 14 days and its already19 days,.. not sure why its slow,.. again,.. but lets see i will post updated pictures on 2 weeks which is the 24th... of Feb ,...
wish me luck,..
