cool sounds consistent with what i heard so far. im still bettin that hps is gonna leave LED behind 2-3 week of flowering. I hope im wrong though, if i am, im dumpin the HIDs and goin with LED, im sure a lot of people will too haha. nice test method and setup!

This is crazy dual 330 lumigrows. So much effort and money invested to out perform the trusted and true HPS. This test is going to be intriguing because if the dual lumis do produce the same amount of bud then you have something going on. I know last test was a bust, a little over a 100 grams dried but your light distance was a huge factor IMO. Now you are using two, lets see what $ 3k plus with of lifetime long LEDs can do.

I still like the knobs, and the lightness of each fixture. My led panel weights 21lbs. Try hanging four in a tent, you will be building racks to support 80+lbs. Mine as well tie my dog to the ceiling, he would probably like it up there. lol anyways, good luck and between you and I, did lumigrow hook you up with the second unit since they upgraded your last one for free? I wonder.........:hump:

I don't think Cali got anything for free bro...that's why this is so great. Cali gives it to us as it is...from his thumb to our eyes...it's bitchin'...

You can't tell me the first time you picked up HPS you were yielding bomb? I don't think any of us can say that, but who knows...

This kind of thing takes time to get used to...after a few grows Cali will have this shit down to a science, and away he grows...

Whether we like it or not...time is the essential factor here...these units are fairly new, and the ES upgrade is much newer than the previous model.

I hear you about the weight of the other units Benny! 20 something pounds suck...Especially when you got three or so of em!

Can't wait for the update Cali! Hope all is well-

-peace everyone-

i didnt get the upgrade for free. i paid for it. LumiGrow wont go that route, they dont want to hand out freebies to make sales. when i went to the facility, i talked to them about Fortier, of "GreenPineLane". i was told that there would be no way that they would even send him a free unit for testing. i saw on his forum that he had tried contacting LumiGrow to test the unit, but he never got an OK. hehehe. i am honored to have been the first retail upgrade in the country. but yes, i did pay for it. nothing in this world is free, at least not for my ass, haha. on with the update...

update....
both sides off to a slow start. they got some minor nute burn, but they are starting to take off now. i expect to see some great growth from both sides these next 2 weeks. enough with the chatter..lets see some pics.

here are some comparison shots.
the HPS seems to have more stretch bewteen the nodes, but thats due to the lack of blue spectrum. the LED side is more 'chunky' and stronger, with not much stretching, and closer internodes. due to the punch of the blue diodes. if i wanted to, i could dial down the blue to match the distance between the nodes, but i will leave the LumiGrows on full blast for the whole cycle. better structure in plants has a big role in yield, so we will see which light can create the best plants. yield is the factor in this test.

i wish i had a better camera. the pics always come out darker than they actually are. i just have an old school Sony CyberShot, its got 4.1 mp (mega pixels). obsolete by todays standards, hahaha. was obsolete when i bought it too...

they look pretty damn even to me right now.... the led's may be a bit tighter/shorter.... but I like that :) .... still watching

UPDATE TIME.......
both sides are ready to blast off. i had to raise the LED units to get them to stretch. they are getting super stacked, while the HPS is steady stretching them. i love the internodal distance on the LED plants. these units stack way better than my T5's. i am gonna want one of them in my veg room in the future. i really love these units. anyways.....on with the pics.

from those pics, you might think that the HPS has much more growth compared to the LED. what you dont see is that lots of the growth on the LED side is under the canopy. stacking em up like crazy.

now lets take a peek under their skirts.

_

before i forget, here is what i am using for nutes. Cutting Edge Solutions, 3 part, Micro, Bloom, Grow. also, CalMag Plus, Silica Blast, and Humboldt Honey for carbs.

looks like everything's going well.

I know that there's a lot more red/flower spectrum in an hps than the led's you're using and that's what causes them to stretch more when you veg under an hps. blue/veg spec keeps internodal spacing much tighter so that's my theory on the growth differences. I'm not discrediting either, just saying the different specs will effect it those separate ways.

good challenge tho :eyesmoke:

Hi Calibudzz
I like your test. I'm eager to see the final results. I grow under LED, and constantly wonder if I would do better with HID - or not. Anyway - I think your pictures are OK, and there's nothing wrong with 4 megapixels - you dont even use that many for uploads here. - and it's ultimately the optics - ok - bla, bla.
Although I'm not too familiar with that particular camera - you almost always can override the auto-setting - like exposure +1 +2 - or you can set it at night photography, which may trick it into longer exposure times.
Happy grow!

this was my thinking as well.... the blue-er spectrum tends to support more leafy growth than the red spectrum... which is why you ideally would use both ;)

calibudz, I have to give you some rep for a GOOD led grow.... as i have yet to see one on here before yours:clap:.....

so whats the total wattage and price for those led panels???
