Longing for old-school hash

My problem is, I don't want to be smoking anything in my house that requires a blowtorch. I'm really too old for that, especially since I remember being able to smoke perfectly good hash with wooden matches or a Bic lighter.

So I'm just wondering if anyone is still making hash like Lebanese blond or Nepalese temple balls?

Also, is there any way I can smoke the new oily or waxy stuff without a trip to the Welding Supply Outlet Mall? What about just heating the stuff up enough to liquefy it and dipping or rolling a joint in it?

Apologies to you youngsters if these questions are too ignorant. Just an old hippie trying to catch up.

People make bubble hash all the time. The oils can be added to anything. Be VERY careful with the oils though. A little bit goes a LONG way!

If you grow, look into dry ice hash. i am :)

Budlover, I only got my MMJ paperwork about a month ago. Before that, I went through 10+ years without a toke. Since I've been going to dispensaries, I've only found one kind of hash that smokes like the old stuff. It kind of looked like a little ball of chocolate sprinkles. That stuff was pretty cool.

Yeah, in the Valley of Central Cali, the collectives tend to shy away from hash/concentrates lately. People are being charged with the equivalent of making meth for making concentrates sometimes. Pretty heavy fed presence in the valley right now.

I heard from one of the dudes in a dispensary that they decided not to carry concentrates because of questions about whether they are legal under Prop. 215.

Correct. There's two basic schools of thought on this.

1) It is allowed under 215 because 215 covers ALL PARTS OF THE PLANT.

2) It's not covered under 215 because it takes an extraction process to obtain and therefore becomes "manufacturing" a controlled substance.

i side with #1 and tbh, i haven't seen anyone have trouble with hash but the oils are a different story.

old school temple ball hash was made with light hand rubbing of a LIVE plant.

the ice water method probably wont produce hash that smokes like that, the only way you could get that kinda stuff again would be through special request.

lebanese blonde hash is dry sifted hash pressed into a brick. very high grade dry sifted hash, this can be done too with the right strains.

but since most hash is either made with chemical extraction or ice water exrtaction or dry ice/etc. you're not as likely to find these things without special request (I'm sure if you're willing to pay for it there are people out there willing to do it.)

Poplars, that's a shame. Lebanese blond was a dream to smoke. But I can see why no one makes it in the U.S., given that you can't grow big fields of hash plants here, sad to say. With less material to work with, you have to go the solvent route, I guess, if you want to commoditize it.

yeah, I'd say try asking around and making connections who knows you could find a hash maker who's down to try it.

I actually know what you mean Itecato. The hash I was smoking in the seventies sure didn't do much bubbling. You could crumble it up into a bit of weed and roll a joint. The only thing I know about hash making is pulled right off of RIU and two attempts at making my own ISO hash. It was goopy and messy but I worked in some kief and it burned far more like the old school hash. I'll betch Itecato that there is just a trick to smoking oils. Maybe I gotta smoke it like crack over some steel wool.:-(

you can't even get temple balls in Amsterdam :( occasional Charras. best place for stuff like that is silkroad, but that's a whole different barrel of stoats.

time to start making your own charas! I'm sure there's a market for it that hasn't been realized yet...

That's a simple solution bud lover. I will just convert my crack pipe into a bubble hash smoker. I'm so far out of the loop at my age.
