Trying to keep it short as possible.
Quick background.
In the last seven or so months I:
-first tried dabs (didn't hit me, super tolerance here, 20yrs old and I can outsmoke hippies who've been smoking top quality daily in bulk for longer than I've been alive)
-Bought my first rig
-blasted my first run (and the 20 or 25 I've done since)
-began getting health problems from the little bit of butane in the 2 grams I would go through daily.
So lets get down to the story.
Last week I wanted to blast the last 1.5 oz or so of bud I had off hand because i had just found a friend with a quartz nail, and i wanted to take a 1.5+ grammer lol. I was short $2 for the last $4 can of butane, so I was gonna use my card. My old co-workers know the deal, and one offered to get the butane for a sample. I said sure and was happy to be on my way w/o spending anything. I went home, and got ready to blast. I loaded up my previously broken up buds and ended up an inch or so, maybe 6 grams worth, short. So I decided to try out my new food processor (bad idea.) I put the weed in and around away. I ended up with what I was expecting, but with fine kief powder everywhere. Me not thinking about filtration, loaded that powder up. I blasted (I use my secret aluminum bud light can and some pantyhose that's double layered) and ended up with about 5 or so grams. I think I only used a little over an oz of year buds and year old trim. Now as always I felt rather experimental, and made a homemade hotplate using everyday items. After an hour of rather slow purge (if I left it purging for maybe 7 -9 more hours I think I would have a quality more like what I'd normally share) I was in a rush. So I scraped about 1.5 grams up for the coworker, labeled it "quick purged hot plate mostly purged" and (quick purged hot plate butane soup) and ran it to him in the same shift. Then I took the remaining 3.5-4 or so grams up to the friends house with the nail. I took over a gram dab as soon as I could, AND that's when I realized there was microscopic kief contaminate. The nail had some funky tar start to form. I was pissed. I let three friend try some and got their opinions. They then applied their purge method and 40 mins later it was at a familiar shattery substance (kinda hate how it explodes flakes everywhere when scrape. But i hate waxy dabs. I need to get a silicone tray.) I tried another gram and everyone tried a dab or two more. In short they will be taking some tips from me. This was by far the worst batch I made imo. Second worst to me was the time the heat purge got too hot and tasted reclaimy. Point is it impressed people who're hard to impress.
Well a couple days ago I stopped wondering about rosin and did more research (if you can call 1 strain central and 1 customgrow420 vid research) and decided to try some.
I pressed some pink crack nugs, tried a dab the size of 3 or so grains of rice, and felt it immediately and it was stronger than if I'd just smoked a gram of bho (what it takes for a short buzz for me.) This impressed me like the batch of new years brownies I made (experimented with lecithin brownies during a smoke out between me and my dealer/grower friend, but that's another long stupid story.)
So I made a small bit of rosin for my old head grower/dealer friend, and he definitely felt it, even though he's been tripping on acid for the last couple days apparently.
I saw my old coworker today and apologized for the lack of quality in the product. To my surprise, apparently they had shared with another coworker, and both were thoroughly impressed and gave me rave reviews. So I let them know that sadly, I won't be blasting for a while, as ive found something id like to make more, and am busy experimenting away with. They were happy to hear that too. I bet they can't wait, cause I love being extra vague on store security camera with audio. All they know is I like this new solventless thing more and feel its effects more, and that I'm more picky and higher tolerance than either of them.
Anyways, in the next couple of days id like to gather some tips on rosin making for quantity and quality, before I drop by my dealers so we can experiment with a bunch of their crop. If possible some temp ranges, cheap methods of upscaling, and any other tips would be greatly appreciated before the experimentation begins.
