The ledil is reflecting more total light for sure that I see. Look all over.
Yes it is a close call and I think deserves more testing.

Unfortunately the Kingbrite reflector that I have on hand has been painted and unpainted, probably losing some of its mojo due to that treatment. I need to get a brand new one to re-test. However, I am curious how the unpainting affected the reflector so here are the differences between Kingbrite and Ledil, the Ledil slightly better everywhere but the center:

Very interesting to see significant gains from the Ledil reflector adapter itself:
Bare Vero29 versus Vero29 with Ledil C13584_Clamp-Vero29 (adapter only, no reflector attached, no walls, 2X2 grid):

I think the reason it came out higher on the right side is because the adapter is very slightly squashed due to the 18 gauge wiring. 10 second fix to file off some plastic but I did not notice it until after the test.

@SupraSPL I wonder about painting the outside of the reflector, to minimize the translucency/passthrough. I havent seen the KB's yet, but always wondered about ledils. PAR meter shows no pass through.
I noticed the Kingbrite is heavier and thicker than the Ledil, 14.6 grams vs 10.7 grams. I recall in earlier DIY reflector testing that 2 layers of heat paint noticeably improved the reflector performance versus 1 layer. But when I added a third layer it made no difference, and was still significantly translucent. Based on that, I assume that there would be nothing to be gained by eliminating the pass through/translucence. If anything it may actually put slightly more heat near the COB if we added more layers.

Competition is a great thing the angelinas are now in the 5$ price instead of the 9$ range from a few months ago
$3.99 at Cutter.com, and if you place a large enough order they might even cut you a sweet deal like they did for me! Free TIM pads for my CXB3590 was pretty cool too! ;)

How beneficial are reflectors in a grow tent? It seems like light loss would be minimal either way in a tent that stays closed.
You're probably right, in a tent you won't really lose any light. The main reason I am utilizing the Ledils besides just for concentrating the light downwards is to have a protective cover over the LES on each LED chip by adding the optional lenses. Pacific Lighting Concepts has the lenses right now for a great price too!

I like the idea of protecting the chips too. I just worry about heat buildup under the lens since I use passive heatsinks.

Anybody actually using the lenses for the Ledil Angelinas? If so how are you liking them? Are you able to notice the minimal loss of light?

I like the idea of protecting the chips too. I just worry about heat buildup under the lens since I use passive heatsinks.
I'm actually going to be using passive heat sinks as well, so I really hope that heat won't be an issue either. Since I'm gonna be running 16 CXB3590s @ 700mA I'm gonna be mounting my drivers outside my tent probably on top and I'll have plenty of exhaust airflow to keep my ambient temperature at a minimum. It wouldn't hurt my feelings to have some sort of airflow on my heat sinks also, it definitely couldn't hurt!

I would think if you have used adequate COB spacing on your heatsinks that the room's oscillating fan will do the trick very nicely. Especially with remote drivers. I just have a concern about a heat trap under the lenses. I could be totally wrong, though. I'm wrong all the time. :dunce:

I actually am using individual passive pin fin heat sinks for each of my CXB3590 and I'll have plenty of spacing between them. I'm using square aluminum for my frame which should allow for plenty of airflow to get to the heat sinks. I may try using an oscillating fan over the light just for the added cooling, but my heat sinks should work fine without it.

The tent is closed but reflectors still help get more light to plants. They are easy to install and a lot to cheep optiona. Give it a try.

The f13671 ange rz lens on ledil reflector should raise case temps a little. May be around 5C. Not a big deal. The 7%-10% light lost is more important to consider.
