there are some rez's that have taken and made good on their part, others are just too ill funded to maintain a house that doesnt fall apart and clean drinking water the government made acts and said we will maintain your infrastructure on your homes since we refuse to allow you to own them, we will give you money
most of them try to do whatever is possible to upkeep

just so many factors at play honestly.
and the government holds alot of cards against them.

look at what happend to Oka Crisis when they tried to stand up
shit was like a third world country at war there

if you didnt know you would not ever think this photo came out of canada in 1990

Fwiw Sunni.

I voted lib because JT promised huge amounts of cash for infrastructure, ( that I hope will put decent water on reserves and schools in those places ) infrastructure, and of course legalization.

As much as I talk about legalization, the education and infrastructure funding is what got my vote. An educated society is a productive society imho, the infrastructure spending should create jobs and help Canadians as a whole.

The Indian act essentially turns the gov Into babysitters and it's wrong, what gets me is that a native person can't even own their own house on the Rez. Home ownership comes with great pride and a sense of accomplishment.
i wouldve voted JT if the goddamn government gave me fucking card

because honestly NDP never wins they never come close and they never really have a shot
and i know that really sucks cause ndp rocks and i would love for them to have a chance

but the reality is most people will vote liberal, and i would rather have liberal than conservative
i feel i am wasting my vote by causing a split
ndp and lib are so close in so many things and issues and only a few really sets them apart

thats just my opinion though

Should have just drove across the border lol
i cant drive im stuck on an island not connected to the main land of alaska. you have to fly out of here or take a ferry which is 9 hours long and than like a 12 day car ride to canada
and i certainly am not paying 2,000$ for a flight there and back to vote

I liked Jack. RIP
They're very similar in a lot of ways but the ndp hasn't formed a fed gov before and so they remain untested and unknown federally. Provincially they get mixed reviews and people get pissed at their "socialist" views and any tax raises.

I was hoping for a lib minority and the ndp having opposition, I liked the way Mulcair handled himself in the HOC and kept the con feet in the fire, this time around though, the libs had a better platform, a friendlier leader and the best chance at ending con rule.

ya i like most of the lib platform .
ndp is great but i feel they are a pipe dream in some things they promise, especially with aboriginal peoples

its not bad, its easy ot get on and off but its expensive, and so unless voting co-sided with going back for my 6 months ot keep my health care and visit mum etc, i wouldnt do it
costs about 2000$ to fly back home

Sounds like a crappy way to keep health care... but since ya don't really live in the province..... but you should be able to get health care if you ever came back.... know what I mean without the travel
Unless you decided to toss your citizenship

its not specifically to keep health care i have health care here as my husband is military i get the same benefits i also still have residency in canada

im just in limbo right now with the dual citizenship , so im still only canadian and by law i have to return every 6 months or you loose it and other benefits
i dont have time to go back to service ontario and regain health care control and wait in canada 4-6 weeks if so be.
at the current moment i am also pregnant so should anything happen when i go back home i want ot make sure i still have my health care

because my husband is military and i have to go through quite intrusive immigration policies i need ot make sure i do everything by the book so to speak

so i want to make surei maintain my health care in canada, which means i have to return at the 6 month mark, its also right after christmas so i can visit mom

Sometimes I wonder what the real standard of living would be if everyone was at one level..... pretty sure we all would be very comfy in Canada
True equality across the board.
I'm very firm in my position that here in Canada, racism starts and stops with the gov. We are all treated differently, our laws, social programs, education......

I don't believe Canadians as a whole are hateful or intolerant for the most part. Lots of the animosity comes from different sets of laws and rules for certain groups and not the other.

Hunting laws and fishing laws are a huge deal around where I live, I know first hand how upset white people get because they have strict controls that natives don't have. At the end of it, the people I'm referring to are also doing it for sustenance and not sport.

Equals - Canadians

its a pretty quick process all they wanna do is make sure we do everything by the book in terms of canada,
that way i have my dual citizenship i would never give up my canadian status as im proud to be canadian

my lawyer said they wont look into my fam tree , its just to make sure our marriage is legit and im not trying to come into the country for benefits

Racism come from people of different ethnicity sticking to their own ethnic communities and living within them instead of integrating into Canada as a whole and mngling with the rest of Canada. It becomes a cesspool for racism. This goes for white, brown, black etc...

No.
Canadians who were born here no matter what ethnicity they may be are racist in some form too.

I believe part of that is from differing laws and programs between Canadians. There is animosity that brews from seeing on person be entitled to something they are not due to race or where they grew up.

the entitlement people dont fully understand though just to add

we all herd of how natives get free education what we dont hear is that they must maintain a 3.5 to 4.0 gpa and must have a 95% attendance rate ,
or else they must pay back everything in full

Would you agree that generally speaking Canadians have different sets of laws and programs and by not having equal access and treatment as your neighbor it brews animosity between different groups of people?

The education is also a huge deal where I live, people get really pissed when they see kids go to school for free and they had to sell their farms to have their kids educated.

We should be adopting a model that provides post secondary education to any Canadian citizen free of charge. We spend money on worse things and we need a highly educated, innovative and productive society. We need to invest in all Canadians, for all Canadians.
