Has anybody else noticed how much this thread has died off recently?
I think 3 things set this into motion.
First, the Kessil LED defect situation has really put the brakes on everybody's opinion of the company.
Second, website and ordering issues for the .357 Magnum LED's forced some buyers to choose other LED sellers.
Third, finding out that the Blackstar's only pulls around half their advertised wattage has brought that group back down to earth(this applies to the .357 Magnum's as well).
I'm not saying that Blackstar's are P.O.S., but some people were getting swelled heads and crowing a bit too loud about getting a deal that was too good to be true.

This thread was growing at a pace of around 2 pages (or more) a day up until recently, now only a few posts a day.
Instead of being united it seems like a lot more people were interested in trying to sell the other posters on their LED lights of choice.
Makes me wonder how much of this thread has been user generated content and how much has just been companies hawking their wares?
this thread actually died off about 50 pages back when it became a pissing contest....

I personally just purchased a second 240watt blackstar last week and hopefully it should be here in less than 2 weeks being as they are backordered.....should be starting a journal in a bit

......and my head is not swollen at all...but my buds will be when i get this second 240 in my closet

:finger: I have no swollen head on this matter with my blackstar. It's the best bang per buck still. No gimicky addons to pay extra for. We have successful grow journals now to back us and now im going led only on the next grow to shut up the nay sayers. I should pull decent bud and my early cut of this batch is KILLER. Its like smoking a piece of green velvet. Smooth and robust with a hint of fruit. Don't for one minute think that I have backed off one bit from my panel.
Thank you for proving my point.
Considering how defensive you are, you need to take some more early cuts and relax.

Thank you for having the maturity level to realize I wasn't attacking Blackstar's or you for being a Blackstar owner.
I agree completely about the pissing contest, it's just so stupid to do it around such high priced electronics.
Good luck with that 2nd light when you get it.

Haven't been around for a bit.....did someone with a Blackstar put up some numbers? What did they pull? Currently watching a Blackstar vs Spectra on 420 but it will be a while till it's done. Love the side by sides but they usually just turn into a hate fest instead of just being informative. Oh well!

This thread sure did die off and I suspect people are starting to just trust results instead of the hype and watching real journals and making decisions based on that. Definately lots of sales people dialed into social media so all the shilling and pissing contests were getting rather tiresome.

I was choked that LedBudGuy checked out but see that he just started an independent page so at least I can watch his latest one finish.

Still hoping to see a decent journal run with Stealth Grow panels if anyone can point me in that direction. Googled the hell out of it but nothing so far.

every site is astroturf for every company how else are they gonna get free advertisement every word out of anybodys mouth with a brand name in it is an advertisement every person wearing a logod shirt is an advertisement thats what george carlin said we specialize in prepackaged and distributed bullshit

you aint gonna get past it or around it cuz theres too many wannabes out there hawking their shittrying to make a living like everyone else

all you can do is try to sort through it all and find that diamond in the rough

i feel there is no better way to learn and see actual results then grow journals. Yeah people will boast about their LEDs since so many people have been buying good lights and getting excellent results it seems no matter what brand they go with. Blackstar, spectra, stealth... everyone seems happy with what they have and happy to show em off.

Running a 30 X 24 closet grow. In dirt, white walled w/ mylar panels that get moved.

Presenty running a single 180w Flowering Blackstar.
Will be flipping this week.

Intend to grow 2 1/2 ft heigth MAX.

Will one 180w Blackstar be enough? Seemed good so far,,, but..

Should I be using 2?

And you prove my point on how blackstar owners have to be on the defense all the time. Everytime a statement is made thy they are a good light for the price and that other companies are using the same guts and using marketing gimicks we are wrong or irrational to the spectra/stealth boys. Dollar for dollar I'll back blackstar. We have no full journals because every riu blackstar guy is mid grow when our LEDs were added. This wll change come April when I post my new led only journal to shut people up finally. Yo my fellow blackstar owners. You think I can get away with 3 3gallon plants under each 240w? I'm debating 2 or 3 for maximum harvests.

I would say 3 pots given you have multiple lights, these leds really seem to shine with multiple units and alot of interlacing of spectrums . I would say 3 pots per light with 2+ lights or only 2 plants if you only have one light, but I think you have multiple.

My hydroponics hut lights seem similar to blackstar size but slightly more wattage, but that's what I would fit under my lights.

Yah I'm planning 3 240w units with 6-9 plants. I'm wondering if my yields will be large enough with more plants to warrant popping the extra beans.

I'm about to take the Blackstar plunge. From what I am gathering from above if you only have 1 light restrict the grow room to 2 plants? I wish to grow Killing Fields(Sannies) in 5 gallon buckets with Fox Farm's Ocean Forest. I'll be running the light 12/12 from the get go. Am I going to run out of room? This is very much an experiment because where I live Sativas will not finish outdoors. Indicas finish and finish frosty but even they often finish in the worst of weather. So I'd like to totally control the environment in a tent(4x4x6.5). I have experience with LED's so I ask.

Ok, guys LED's have potential no doubt about it. I think it comes down to cost and use for and set up of lights, Im not a big user of LED's but definately see the potial and appricate having the privalidge of reading your experiances and advice, Induction lighting shows alot of promise as well. I ussually grow fairly large opps and leds are just not Cost effective for my needs, but i believe that induction and or LED's are going to be the future as soon as the cost drops! LOL! I would tell anyone who likes LED set ups to go to Apothecary genetics and i believe it one of the front pages shows brett bogue and his set up of 100's of smaller LED lights and its beautiful. All i could think was how much did that cost! Although the flip side is if i could do it properly i would look to LED's and start out with them in a smaller room as a test and go from there as the money you could save compared to using so many 1000 watt bulbs or even 600's. I find that the 600hps/400mh bulbs work great for flower for people looking for a mor full light spectrum, and most quality ballasts will accep and run those BLUE EYE i believe they are called so many names nut its a hortilux bulb and works well. Noticed a diffeance in quality as well as yield! Peace, SENSI
