I want to go on record, g/w should not be used at all unless comparing one grow to another with exact light cycle, etc. We should use g/Wh for a true comparison of energy use vs. results.
i saw someone else here post that same thing and get immediately ridiculed you should be careful what you say

I'm pretty sure we are all talking about the exact light cycle in flower 12/12 but yeah I veg 18/6 and others veg 24 but what's more important is ALL the other factors. I think one important variation to consider is plant movement since light isn't everything. I know plenty of people who are afraid of some good fan action. It's not just to get the leaves fluttering. You want your ladies to be pretty much dancing. Wind in nature is a key component of cellulose production. Fans are not just for air circulation, they are also to give your plants a good work out.

I took these with my camera phone but it does very little justice. I keep debating, should I buy a new higher quality camera or more lights? Week 5markthomas.jpgspears.jpgdundunduh.jpgveg.jpgnot p[opcorn.jpg

Eh, idgaf about ridicule, but its common sense. You can veg for 3 months under 1k HPS and you'll get more weight than if you vegged less (say 1 month for comparison) so g/w means nothing, but you could break out the calculator and figure your g/Wh and get exact # based upon how much electricity was actually used if you want to determine that bit of efficiency.

those look good for wek 5 bout what i had from my old 90w looks good
How many plants did you do with the 90w? I have six cotton candy kush under a 125w(advertised) a 170w (advertised) and (2) 35w crackshit kessils. Still waiting on another ISIS. In another chamber I've begun flowering1 untopped white widow and this crazy purple cross of two purple strains also untopped. Those are now 3 weeks into flower and 3 white widows topped that are now 1 week into flower under a HSS 800. Once these finish up, I'll be moving them into there. In another week I'll begin to flower 4 amazing Pineapple Chunks. I'm super excited about those!! And I've almost completed my 8 site hydro set up under (2) 240 blackstars. Haven't decided which strain to do.My veg cab is set up to move new plants into veg every 2-4 weeks.

i only did one plant and despite all the problems i had with ph and oxygen i still pulled fat from a three band panel

For any of you who haven't scoped dunit's journal in awhile, dude just put up some delicious bud shots. Any one doubting LED's penetration power or ability to flower, you've just been proven wrong!

So I've been researching a bit on LED's now, read this entire thread through and had a few questions if anyone would be so kind to answer. I don't believe they were covered in this thread but I apologize if they were.

Does the ISIS light have cooling fans and side vents (the Magnum is pictured on it's side with side vents)? Does the Magnum have cooling fans?

It has both cooling fans and side vents. The magnum is made by the same company Grow perfect tech so I imagine they include fans in it as well.

Thanks 660 for the info. Are your Kessil's still working now?
Still working but my latest complaint about them is that the little eyeholes used to hang them do not hold up under normal usage. I've had to pretty much use zip ties through the vent holes wrapped around bungie chords to hang them properly and as for working, they work but not nearly as well as my ISIS. I would easily buy another ISIS for $399 before I bought 2 more Kessils at $500.

im thinking my led has too much blue i might buy another panel with the old 7:1:1 to balance it out some but the blue sure did help with making fat hard buds

check these out of mine, about 55 of the 252 3w LEDs appear to be blue (12 spectrums in all), last pic was off my machete sheath as it lay near the intake flap of the tent, I can clearly distinguish 8 of the 12 colors (1 of which cant be seen by humans). I don't know what the ratios are, I guess I will ask the maker, should have the answer in 2-3 days if they don't consider it their trade secret (they actually test their lights on cannabis they grow). I'm fairly sure he can be as specific as stuff like red/orange/blue/green/white/purple/, but I dunno bout nm

I have ISIS and Magnum. They both have beefy heat sinks, fans and side and end vents. 3 fans on the isis 170 and 6 on the magnum. Here's some pics I took back when we were discussing the lack of heat sink on Blackstars

Thanks dunit, I wish the website that sells these had more comprehensive pictures but yours are exactly what I was looking for. Yea I recall several posts discussing heat sinks and possible consequences of having LEDs too hot (spectrum shift). This is one of the reasons that is pushing me towards ISIS/Magnum and Spectra LEDs. Visiting the local Hydro store and seeing a Haight LED (very thin with a "finned heat sink") in one of their show room tents led me to think that a heat sink alone might not be ideal for long term usage as the back panel was extremely hot to the touch.

Happy 420 to all my fellow LED users! F the Haters! Currently on day 20 of flowering for my LSD and Blue Mystic. Looking great buds are forming. Oh wait how can that be? LED's are only good for veg not flowering. Screw that! So I running the 270w Enhanced Spectrum Supernova LED from HidHut. It's a good light and I recommend it!
Here's a shot of the LSD day 19 of flower.
