hey growers,

str8 2 the point on this one. Im interested in LED's lights for veg/flowering. Whats been your expieriences with them? any recommendations on brand, type, full spectrum, etc? I have a small setup so i don't need those <$1000 lights. Something that'll cover a 3'X3' setup would be awesome :). Thx guys/gals.

I have used LED's for years and for flowering they are amazing. Word is that the new, high powered ones are also amazing for flowering, and I don't doubt it considering their effectiveness. LED's are the perfect solution for indoor growing in hot climates, not to mention no heat signature, a LOT lower energy cost, longer lasting, and a lot safer; haven't heard of any houses burning down from LED's but I know many that have burned because of HPS. BTW, I have a 1,000w HPS and a nice T-5 setup also, so my views are based on comparisons and actual experience.

3x5 tent. The ti smartlamp i have in there is supposed to cover a 4x4 and i have a cheaper vipar led that works for at least a 2.5 x 2.5. Havent trusted that one enough to go for more than that but is kicking the space it is coverings ass.

I too switched i only ran 400hps but it was about efficiency for me.. I invested in a Plasma that needs no supplemental light... Hoping it works.. best investment so far... the canopy penetrations is unbelievable...

I have the Kessils. They are not like the others. I will finish one grow with them before I will call it. I do like the output over then input for power. And the low heat is nice. I am dealing with heat all the time.

plasma lights are the future is what i heard.
What plasma light is it you use? it looks a bit like the gavita 300 LPE, but still not. What brand is that? been a year or so since i looked into plasma, so they should have come a long way! how does it compare to the 400w hps you used to run?

from my understanding you get only ~16-18k lumen from the gavita 300 LPE , which is why i personally chose to wait for a more effective apparatis to be designed. But im 100% sure LEP is the growlight of the future! LED are also great, but LEP just has more potential in my eyes.

it is a www.rocketplasma.com lamp. compared to 400hps. well for me i like my costs down since its my own crop.. so i will pay a bit more for better lighting. so far compared this wins hands down. I will appear not nearly as bright as a HPS or even 200wcfl. but what id does do is gives your plants exactly what they need without the heat the burn and never knowing if that led you just bought you can ever get serviced.. Mine easily serviced if necessary. The support that company gives you is second to none. i will never go anywhere else for a plasma light..

I use a apollo 8, apollo 6, a joyhydrogrow 450w (red), with a few whites and blues but mostly red spectra in a 4' x 2' tent for bloom and veg and clone under 1 180w ufo from topled, growing from soil I didnt want to under do it knowing nothing about leds but Ill say I was not really disappointed with the on my last grow, my last run of WW x BB harvested right around 3 1/2 oz dried off of 2 12" plants and 2 16" plants, I should also note that my last grow did not include the Apollo 8, rather the apollo 6 the 450w and 180 watt, and vegged under cfl, however Ive been impressed enough to keep investing and moved too 100% led. Final product has been nothing to be ashamed of I am currently running 2 different strains. Gigabud and Intensive skunk, heres a pic gigabud on the left skunk on the right. The skunk is crazy so Ive been training her more than the gigabud.

yes I'm interested in led mainly because I've heard/read they put out very little heat and provide more of the light spectrum my little ladies need. Currently I'm vegging with (2) 3' T5 flourescents tubes, the process has been slow. I've seen how quickly they can grow under hps but i want something that'll run cooler. Is it possible to veg/flower using one led fixture? everyone has been very helpful, thx guys.

All led panels are not created equal

Every aspect from driver, to heat sink to paste that affixes the diodes to the heat sinks to lenses to fans- everything matters

No $500 light will properly cover a 3 x 3 space and provide the joules/^ft that mj needs

I am using a BML SPYDR 600 which has an actual 3 x 3 footprint

Check out my thread to see 2 plants 43 days from first pistils

Yes it is possible btw, you can do Both under the same led, however no perpetual cycle that way, but if a person wanted to they could, i agree with the guy that says all leds are not created equally as I have seen the differences up close and personal, but i will admit i believe Chinese manufactured leds are under rated, they do work for mj, I have living proof, lol, but there is a huge difference in performance, longevity, and overall spectrum quality, am I super pumped to be sporting chinese leds? No absolutely not, will/do they get the job done? Yep from beginning to end. Am I disappointed with them? Not really actually, Im not a commercial grower or in business of any kind, just a personal stash is all, and as far as im concerned they do fine.

$450 for a veg light? It certainly appears well built but for a veg light? $450? With 4 different panels Im only in for $520, idk ... But again with leds you get what u pay for, im still just kinda in shock from seeing that price tag lol

Thanks for all the input guys. I've been looking at the Mars II LED Grow Light 400w, the coverage is good for my 2'x3' even though it says it covers a 3'x3'. A few ppl mentioned mars early in the post but has anyone actually used this brand? results? what else should i look for in led's since i know they aren't all created equal? also, can anyone elaborate on the term "full spectrum?
