I second that. Damn nice job. If you got rain coming then chop it. Unless you can keep it indoors for those rainy days.

If you can't then chop her and get to smokin!!

I have a question....will the cure do anything to the potency? I have my buds in paper bags for now and just wondered if the whole jar thing does anything special?

well i do know that having it in an air tight jar will help u seal all the resin and thc in the bud kinda like marinating so it will def make it more potent and the longer u leave it marinating the better the potency

marinating huh? i like that term... think im gonna call it marinating instead of curing:hug:.... but it is more of a controlled decomposition... most of the alkaloids (what gets you high) isnt in the correct form fresh and must break down into their respected chemicals... also distributes the moisture (what little is left) evenly and makes the smell/taste come out more.. chlorophyll breaks down so it doesnt smell like grass, etc... but you got the right idea

Thanks for the quick response...I didn't get much due to a late start but wanted the most out of it. So it's off to the jar for some fine marinating ;-)..... I grow outdoors only so it's gonna be a long winter but look out next year! I've learned a lot from this site.
Thanks again...Peace

The jar is just another method. From what I understand, if I understand what I've been reading, curing is essentially an evening out of moisture content, and that's more the goal, more than, say.. aging. And yes, curing does seem to make a bit of a difference, at least in how it smokes. My son uses paper bags exclusively, and his bud is DANK and sticky and smokes beautifully.

And I can now state with certainty that the moistened paper towel in the too-dry buds DOES rehydrate them, and pretty damn fast at that. Just don't make the towel too wet, because they'll become like fresh buds if you do. Don't ask me how I know. ;)

well thast good to know incase i or anyone else over dries but dont you think that drying and remoisting is gonna effect the bud as far as taste and potency

Nope! I left the moistened paper towel in with the bud for maybe a half hour or so, and it's perfect this morning. Smokes pretty nicely, too, considering it's from a Bagseed Gal, and got my friend nice and high yesterday (she had to turn down extra hits!).

I've tried lettuce before. Same concept in the container with the dried bud. Works much the same as a wet paper towl. Maybe not as fast but still works.

Lettuce might actually be more... "controlled", because the water is held within cell walls.
I would agree with that. The lettuce seemed to be more of a slow release of moisture. It allows you to get the desired moisture content slowly rather than dry to super wet in 30 mins with a wet paper towel :)

Yeah, I didn't like how that one worked out. Fortunately, I've got sticky icky this morning. Whew! It's like with the biscuits the other night--you can ALWAYS cook 'em a little more, but you can never UNCOOK 'em.
