I went to TGA and they gave me a nug of Vortex which was very cool of them. But they didn't have anything else to try. I asked if they had anything we could see or try before I buy seeds (I brought money, too!) and he (the random employee, not Subcool) gave me a nug of Vortex and said that's all we have. Sub was gracious and in a good mood, but I never got a chance to get close enough to say hi. He was super busy with all the customers and old friends and industry people who kept coming over to say hello. I have to say though, none of it lived up to his hype about smoking everyone out and dabs and hits and all that. There were a half dozen people, including that Frenchy guy taking dabs that glared at me as I tried to sit down and join them, so I left. The best dab/hit I had was at the Crown Extracts booth. Now that was a monster dab! After all the talk about smoking the weed nerds out, I was pretty disappointed with TGA.

Most of the vendors didn't want to talk to you until after you bought something. Crap beer and food, too. You would think that a stoner convention would have better food. Oh well. I left early because I was bored. Had I not gone alone I probably would have stayed longer. If I was a hot chick I would have gotten free stuff all day long! ;) I would have paid 10 bucks for it, maybe 15 and called it worth it. At 40 bucks it's a rip off.

My advice for anyone thinking of going: Bring company, and don't expect much.

Well that sucks I thought tga said they were giving away free seeds... maybe only if you bought other seeds? i woulda been happy getting some of the pre release beans of their new strain even paying for them but then again i'm a tga fan ;)

Some guy was complaining that they only had one place to get food. Does LA or anywhere in socal have any other similar big weed events that are better (like seattle's hempfest?)

how was that vortex nug?

Now that I am fed and have had a lot of bong loads and am in a more positive mood... :)

The good parts... Chicks in almost nothing is always good. Even the skanky ones. There was some decent deals on seeds to be had. People were generally pretty nice. The location was good. While far from LA, I saw no cops going in or out. Certainly none hanging out hassling anyone. Free parking, too.

There are a few other hemp or MMJ cons in So Cal throughout the year. Kush Expo comes through, Hemp Con was a few weeks ago at the same location. I have never been to any of those so I don't know if they are better. And today they had one, maybe two places to get food, a beer truck, and a bar (which was surprising).

The Vortex was nice. I really wish I could have been able to try their other offerings, though.

The Cali Connect and Rare Dankness booths were both so crowded I couldn't really get in to check them out. I know that CC had free posters and stickers.

The big thing I noticed was all the concentrate makers. Wow.

Had 3 friends who went, they said the event sucked. Rare Dankness booth was poppin, can't wait to try some of their gear~

I got this post from Mike Boutin off FB:
"The only thing I saw medical at the HT Cup, was the 5 ambulances that showed up to cart off kids who dropped out from dabs in the 5 1/2 hours I was there!!!"

Passed out from dabs! That had to be worth the free ambulance ride. Bwahahahaha
I hope I don't get disappointed in Denver, bought two day VIP pass, I have huge expectations considering the recreational aspect, and the fact that it supposedly the first real HTCC non medical...I have a card but my wife doesn't, shouldn't be a problem according to HT. I want to get buy a bunch of beans...I asked sub and he said TGA won't be coming, that's lame I asked swerve and he said they were coming correct with CC...any news on Denver's deal?

I'm sure TGA won't be coming because you can't sell beans (TGA or other) in CO that weren't created in CO... at least you're not supposed to. So the only chance for getting anything out of a CO show is online sales through seedbanks unless you have a CO breeder to produce seeds.

So what's the final verdict? Worth it or not? I'm thinking of making the drive up this morning mainly to pick up some TGA seeds. Can anyone tell me how much they're selling for at the event? Also were there any other cool booths that I should check out?
Thanks,
Puppet

Seeds were 75 bucks for a 10 pack at the TGA booth. If you're going for seeds it's worth it. Prices were about the same at all booths.

15% off promo code: FREEWEED

There's nothing medical about High Times. Never was, never will be. There's not much medical about me either as I am a proud recreationalist, but that's beside the point.

And yeah, the funniest thing all day was the kids being treated for too many dabs. I saw some poor girl being treated by paramedics because she fell down and hurt her elbow. She was so spaced out you could tell that she had no idea where she was. Buncha bubblegummers. Stupid people who don't know their limits.

I asked swerve if he would have seeds, he said yes! Hope he didn't think I was asking about LA, I did specify Denver when i asked...That's gonna suck if you are correct.

Oh, check out the different glass and vape booths. The pulse booth was letting everyone sample their bongs with free dabs. There was an all glass vape company that was demonstrating their bong vape which was really cool. Very smooth.

Tga booth was great imo. Got free joints dabs and seeds. Got the unreleased space candi, and pennywise. Cali connect on the other hand not impressed. Went to buy beans and they where missing like half the items I wanted, this is when they 1st opened. Then u had to listen to him beefing w/ some dude for an hour on a mic about girl scouts cookies. All around unprofessional. Went buy myself, would be better w/ friends. Got tons of beans on the cheap so I'm happy.

Hello RIU’ers!

Well the convention is in San Bernardino so for the locals we know that its a drive to get there. Um, some “LA insider tip” if you are going from the west take the 210 Fwy the 10 is normally more congested.

The location was pretty sweet I guess. There is free parking and it is all outdoor! Just like last years the only interesting part is inside the medicating area “of course”. Yesterday it got pretty hot I saw a lot of dehydrated stoners. Saying that I will also recommend please take water and food! Don’t want to be caught waiting in line with the other 30 cottonmouths waiting for food/drinks at one of the few spots that has food or water.

Ambiance was like last years very mixed and a lot of hoochie mamas I am young and listen to Hip Hop but the music was absurdly loud didn't find a reason to have every fucking stand with speakers bigger than the next, I mean you couldn't have a conversation with any of the vendors/visitors. I sound like I'm just complaining please do not get me wrong I cannot complain about seeing half nekked hotties dancing to some kendrick lamar. But still I would prefer something MUCH more "professional" I guess is the word.

There was plenty weed everywhere, got a couple of 1/8ths here and there to try out some other flowers. But I would say that the main "event" in the convention are the free dabs. I am not a dab smoker but as we say in Spain "Caballo regalado no se le mira los dientes" so I took part in the dab bonanza... And wow me and my girlfriend were REALLY gliding around there, hahaha. I hope next year there is more FLOWER, we did get to try a lot of cannabis cup entries and my favorite must be the Veganic Ghost Train Haze from Buds and Roses.

The booths were SO PACKED way to go stoners showing up! I would lie if I said that I "thoroughly" checked them out all. But I did hang out for a while at the TGA booth and they had a party going on in there! His booth is right in the entrance so he set the mood with some free dabs from the man himself. Subcool was in his salsa haha and boy was I happy when he opened up that federal jar of spacebomb pre-rolls. TGA BEST BOOTH OUT THERE. They had good deal on all of their gear $45.00 5pack / $75.00 10pack and he also has super soil "didn't get my hands on any :( ". Didn't go by Cali Connection it was waay too packed but did have a chance to pass by RareDankness and they were there partying and selling a bunch of gear too!

Cali Connection did Hook it up like no other at the Concert they threw A LOT of weed out to the crowd "Swerve get a sling shot next time for the back of the crowd LOL" I didn't enjoy the concert much and I can say that Redman really made it awkward thinking that the red eyed crowd would know method mans lyrics even if we would we didn't have the throats to back them up! Have to give him props in his crowd surfing skills. He really made some stoners break a sweat!!!

Overall it was a good experience, wouldn't want to go Sunday too though. But definitely excited for next year! hahaha.

And that is my grain of salt! :)

Thank you! for going and reviewing guys. I had high hopes but after the shell game (move from LA Studio -> Glendale -> San Bernardino), and my work ramped up I gave up, stayed home and worked. I used the money I didn't spend to purchase a Pax Ploom.

I had wanted to go and try a vaporizer, try a bong and buy some seeds. Especially the seeds. But I know the Orange Show area all to well and there's so much construction etc.. What with needing a wheelchair and the area being all torn up I just gave up. Mithrandir420 I wish I was a younger recreational smoker I would have enjoyed a big weed swap meet LOL, excellent description. I could immediately see it.

Oh and if any of you want one of the best burgers there's a burger place about 2 miles from the Orange Show called Phil's it's a real greasy looking hole in the wall. But the burgers are the best I've had and the onion rings, YUM! Oh and they aren't expensive. Make sure before you head over you call. I don't know if they are open on Sundays or not? But I thought of going just to get a Phil's Burger.

I think I would have had a much better time had I not gone by myself. I'm not very good at striking up conversations with strangers. :)

The area they had everything in was all flat and accessible. I don't know what kind of parking they had for placard holders, but a wheelchair could have gotten around in the event really easily. In fact I did see on person in a chair there. Para form the looks of her.

I am thinking that maybe I will give Kush Expo a go, or try the cup again next year, but I'll take friends or organize an RIU meet and greet so I have people to hang out with. Probably be more fun that way. I think I need to get over my paranoia of giving my phone number to people. It bit me in the ass this time.

And I had my GSC to share, too. It's the Forum Cut.

I went pretty much solely for the TGA booth and to mix and mingle with other growers. The TGA booth was awesome. I got a SS charge bag for $80 ($20saved) 3 5packs Vortex Cheese Quake, Jesus OG $40each ($30saved). I did not get any of the new beans that were for freebies, but whatever, I got a Son's of Dank shirt I am totally in love with, rolling tray signed by Sub/Jill/TC/Dioxide/FJ420/MrSpliff/EarlDabs Sub signed his Vortex/Querkle shot from 2012 calendar, I smoked Subs Plushberry and Vortex which was the best flowers I've had in my life (I'm still mad I was too high to ask to try his bubble), smoked FarmerJohn420's wax which was THE BEST wax at the convention (didn't see any of Frenchie's or Matt's).:weed:

For the rest of the convention LOTS of bad BHO at 75% of the booths going out for free or even charging for it. And yes there were enough people passing out from it that everyone got the chance to see someone fall out before the day was over. When you can see the swirls just say No, don't smoke it and F you for serving it. Weed swap meet is a good way to put it but they'd only take cash, the flowers in my backpack put what was on special to shame.

The most atrocious thing I saw was a booth I don't recall the name but they coated their nugs in BHO and then cured. It looked like it had a mold on it, or a candy coated tar, black. I discredited it for so long and challenged the methodology that he gave me a hit of it for free and it tasted exactly like I thought under purged not vaccd BHO, but it was strong gross and strong.

I was hoping to meet and chat share flowers with more local growers, but met 0. It was all pot heads. I asked at least 2 dudes girlfriends for stickers just to find out they were skanks, not working the booth, so I stopped asking for things. So much buying of flowers I was shocked, I was contemplating If I should have started offering $5 grams for a conversation. 1 booth related to growing and it was a hydro shop. I had my expectations low for grower related booths, but I was at least hoping for a free pack of Mychro and BB. Not a chance :-|

I made the mistake of not having lunch before so the 1 food truck was a huge disappointment. When I was mentally ready to pay $7 for a hotdog and soda can from a vendor, it just didn't exist. The $40 ticket was made up in TGA savings  but I had somewhere to be at 7 so it not being in La was inconvenient, I left before 4. I got there early so I had a GREAT time drifting my Subie through the dirt lot kicked up a lot of dust, regret not hitting the mud hole, but it looked deeper than my front lip.

TLDR: TGA booth 9/10 awesome time rest of event 3.7/10 a little worse than expected with moving 2x 72hrs before the event. Paying for flowers, but free lung collapsing from impure BHO dabs:clap:. I saw no bubble dabs.

Son of a biscuit eater! They told me they didn't have any shirts at TGA!

Great review Californicater. I saw that booth with the super coated buds. I thought it looked bad. It was Redman Meds I think. Super Bud they call it.
