I might just be "a two post asshole" but it has to be said.

This guy is correct. I know it is an old thread, but as someone who knows better I wouldn't want misinformation spread around. 240 is safer, 120 takes more fuse box space, both get the job done. Personally I would only use 220 in my house if it were possible.

Any qualified electrician will tell you the same thing. But hey, if a weed growing stoner chick says otherwise...
