Kingbrite Rocks

I've gotta say, I've never liked king brite from day 1. If that goes against Realstyle's agenda, whatever. From the very beginning they've been putting fine print in their ads that some of their cxa3070 are AB, but most are Z4 or Z2, but in the title it says AB, and lists 2 color temperatures.

At the same time, RS has made pretty good DIY instructionals on how to use the king brite leds. I have already said in the past that I would rather buy from digikey just because they list their stuff properly. They better have sent me the right shit, or i'll order 1 of each item under 5 cents in the store.

tomato, potato if you catch my drift....
No I don't I have been exposed to racial hate at 12 yrs old being one of the few blacks moving to the SFV. My dad was a machinist for Hughes Aircraft and I'm no ones dummy. I have stories that will explain why I act the way I act.

There is no bullshit RS. I appreciate you giving us another option to purchase from. I think what everyone just wants is a little clarity. There is so much bullshit in the LED market and every company/manufacturer/supplier seems transparent (well, most at least). I think people just want to know what they are getting in to. Like I said, I was not offered a "deal" from Jerry @ KB so it made no sense to purchase from him (and I always know that when purchasing overseas, the chance for warranty is usually gone). While you and a few others seem to be getting good deals, they come at a potential cost.

To boot, when you purchase from an unauthorized dealer, you are not guaranteed to receive what you purchase. While they may be labeled as a certain BIN, whos to say they are actually that BIN? I am NOT saying that KB is doing this, just making the argument. Its no different than the same thing that PlatinumLED is going through right now with "claiming" they use all Bridgelux and their LED is far superior. People just want the truth and while you are trying to help others out, you are also not giving all the facts (whether you know them or not, I do not know).

Dont take it so personal man.

Thank you doz. You and Church and a few others will get my help if you choose. I grow in and outdoors , chem or organic, soil or rock wool or dwc. But I get called a troll and I'm not I'm a Gargoyle lol. Why I'm trying to get everyone to buy from Kingbrite is to get us better pricing. I hate digi because I get 9% sales tax added because I live in Cali fuck that shit. But you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink it.

After what you've shown there, I wouldn't like to be your customer.

So first you came trolling about some cheapo LEDs. After being flamed, you build your own light based on local designs (nothing new). Then you buy some LEDs from a China company which was already linked there (I myself had contacted them before your initial trolling -- only to find out that they had not 3070 AB's in stock). Then you make a "tutorial" how to build a light (which was not bad, but also nothing new to be bragging about). And then someone finds out that the company (which you're not affiliated with at all) is not an authorized Cree distributor, posts it there and you go directly into rage mode. Can you explain me the logic behind this?

Calm down guys... im waiting for some cxb from KB and for me, the only important thing is if they are counterfeit or legit... if someone already got some and can test for us it will be very helpful.

And GG i apreciate alot your work its important to know if we buy legit cree or not cause this will afect our results later...

I was very suspicious when I first saw Amelias claims of CXA3070 3K AB for $42 shipped. Bought one, tested it with a simple lux/W test and it slightly outperformed the CXA3070 3K that I got from Arrow and strongly outperformed the Z2 I got from Digikey. They annihilate the very best generic 100W COB I have. So I ordered a larger batch and they tested on point also. Then I ordered a test batch from Kingbrite and they are as advertised, only much cheaper. Then I got a batch of CXA3590 5K DB and tested them against my CXA3590 5K CD bin. Awesome output from these COBs, using them for vegging.

It is a huge PITA to make those ceramic bases, probably not appealing to counterfeiters. The COBs are the correct size, color temp, output, Vf, thermal characteristics, current droop characteristics. The traces inside the COBs use the exact same configuration and pattern as the verified Cree. So I have no worries about them being the wrong bin or being counterfeit. Every CXA I have ever got originated in that China factory regardless of the retailer.

I let both Amelia (AliEX seller) and Jerry (KB Alibaba seller) know that I would be testing their COBs against COB of a known bin so they would not be tempted to BS us. As far as I can tell they have been honest. Jerry would say things like, I have CXB3590s coming but not sure what bin until I get them. Yep, that sounds like Cree. Sometimes he would get sample packs, sometimes full trays, sometimes full sealed boxes. Because some are from sample packs and CXBs are brand new, we can expect some variation with the writing on the COBs. Maybe some of them are rejects that Jerry scored for cheap, who knows. But every detail I have seen holds up as genuine Cree, including the packaging and labeling details. They may or may not be authorized, but they do seem to have a direct relationship with the factory. As long as they perform, I am very happy with this hookup :joint:
