Has any one had expironce getting a job with their MMJ card? I understand you don't have to tell them legally, but if the job requires a pre-employment drug screen has any one been able to get around it? I have heard that if you tell the clinic that you are a MMj patient they will take it into consideration when you test (like if you had a script for vicoden and you tsted positive for opiates).

I recently lost my job and am seeing that my prospects for employment are very limited because of all the drug testing. Any help on this subject will resault in +REP

all you have to do is tell them your a medical marijuana patient and they have to over look it considering its legal for you. now the only reason i would see them denying a mmj patient is because of machinery. it could be possible they wouldnt want you working on heavy equipment or somethin hardcore like that they might pass it up. but for most jobs they cant discriminate for that

+ Rep, thanks i was thinking that also. however discrimination laws are federal, as the federal government does not recognize MMJ, it would leave me to believe that we are not protected under federal discrimination laws...i thought i heard of a case where wal-mart was sued over this but i cannot find the story..

No patient should be forced to choose between adequate pain relief and gainful employment, and no employer should be allowed to intrude upon private medical choices made by employees in consultation with their doctors.

But emplayers can and they will continue to descriminate until marijuana is fully legalized..

(I would personally prefer to be assisted in any establishment by a stoner as opposed to a Oxy junkie, or someone on anti depressants anyday of the week..)

i would look into getting one of those whizzanators and some fake piss.. i know that really shouldn't be the answer, but maybe it is.. i remember that walmart story where they fired a med patient .. and i think you maybe onto something about discrim. laws being federal and mmj not being recognized by the federal government..
i use a whizzanator to pass monitored ua's for something other than jobs or courts, and it works like a charm.. pricey, but worth it imho.. and in order to get a well paying job, i would really think about getting and using one as well...

by law, the business can fire or not hire you if they want for using medical marijuana, the law states its totally up to the business. but the law also states that no person will be discriminated against by any business for using MMJ legally....doesnt fuckin make sense at all. but i guarantee the majority of businesses will not hire you if you fail the drug test. makes me glad im my own boss.

Haven't you people watched the news on this subject, walmart fired a mmj user. He been an outstanding employee but one UA and that was all over, fuck walmart. And for that matter fuck any employer that drug tests. Dunno where you are but as far as I know there are NO laws protecting the mmj user from being fired or not hired due to positive test for weed.

Thats the case i am talking about, what ever became of it? i thought the ACLU came in and it got tons of press coverage for like a day, and then nothing...

True, MI is an at will state in general (regardless), i would say in that statement "no person shall be discriminated against by any business for using MMJ legaly" the state extends a legal branch of protection?? but with how MI's law are written it dosent realy matter because it all about how they are entruprited...

Yeah but no...i think if the state says i can legally grow, own ,and use, MMJ; I shouldn't have to hide it!! No disrespect to you, just it's BS they give us the "RIGHT" but not back it up..

I agree fully, i would rather a cancer patient get gainful employment , than an Oxi-Junky find a way of getting more drugs. i and i think most MMJ patients would still be willing to submit to a drug test as long as the MMJ is ommited.

I look at it like this .... If more peeps stood up and said fuck you I'm not gonna piss in a cup for you it's none of your god dam business what I do with my personal time. If you do your job are not a fuck up why should they care what you do when you not at work. It all boils down to insurance company's trying to weasel outta having to pay for anything they are thieves with a legal badge to steal from all.. Oh you some weed your bad! Gimme a fucking break. Take all the petrol chemical meds you like and be a idiot and walk around blind but smoke some herb and your a fucking criminal.. What a fucking joke! Stand up get up.. Stand up for your rights!


I am a self employed man and have been for 24 years and could care less what the peeps that work for me do whit there time after work. But I will say don't get high at work.

It's wishful thinking to believe drug laws and employment issues with it are gonna just slither away if we just stand up to it.....that method will leave you jobless and broke.....we must be smarter and seek a way around the screens.......and personally, in some industries, I personally don't want to work alongside a stoner.......cause so many don't stop wiht just a high....they want to be stoned...and that ain't safe in some vocations.......

So you will work with a person that is using prescription meds but not a stoner hu? And no it is not wishful thinking if erybody had the balls to stand up and say fuck you to your test who they gonna get to do the job? You are the problem buy just sitting on your ass saying its wishful thinking its that mentality that got us all here in the first place.Wake the fuck up bro!

yeah, there was an article about this in a issue of Treating Yourself. I haven't heard anything about this since the article.

The best thing you can do is get a doctor to write you a script for marinol so when you go to take your test you will asked to write your prescriptions you take, then you can put marinol(or one of the other names for it, whichever one you have), if the tester wants to see the script or bottle youll have it. Marinol is a 100% false positive for marijuana and its a legal prescription.

synthetic urine works great for employment related test as they are un-monitored, I have done it a lot. Fair warning thou, some labs are able to detect it although I have never herd of it happening it michigan, make sure you use fresh stuff you get online and not something that been sitting in a headshop for months. I used QuickFIX for my test about 9 or 10 times at several different clinics, I work for a hospital emergency room. I was really happy with quickfix, it comes quickly almost always overnight for me as its located in Ohio or Illinois or something..... its about 25$ and works like a charm.

Thanks but i dont think my regular doctor eill proscribe this for me...Like most MMJ users in MI i had to go to a special clinic to get the sign-off on my application...my regular md dosent know i have it, nor do i think him knowing would do anything to my advantage. But it is still a viable option in the future.

Yes, I'm interested to know just how you "get a doctor to write you a script for marinol ". I did go to my doc and demand xanax but I don't think he'd write me the marinol.
