Well here are the girls, they're looking much bigger than 2 days ago. Looking nice and short, with no stretching that I can see. They're making their daddy very proud!

O im soz diddnt realise ur update =)
No problem dude, i gotta get some groceries and some more lights. The right plant isn't getting enough light to it like the other 2 on the left, so ima get like a fixture to hang solo over the right one. After I get that set up i'll do another pic update.

Well quite a day as far as the box is concerned. I widened the left exhaust hole so that it's now 120MM like the pc fan that is on it so it's throwing out as much as possible now. But that fan is only .16 amps, and the other is .65 so it doesn't blow as hard as the right one. I also now have both of the fans wired to the same charger which is nice cause it's less cords in the way, the charger is 2 amps, so plenty of power for the fans. I got another socket to plug adapter and a Y splitter and 2 65k 26 watt bulbs and hung those over the right plant cause she wasn't getting as much light as the to plants on the left. I was going to get some PH up and PH down, as well as some tap water conditioner but I totally forgot about it, so i'll just do that tomorrow.

Also, it's getter harder to work inside the box, anybody have some good ideas about how I could water the plants more easily?

Another question. Would several of the bigger 65 watt bulbs instead of having so many smaller ones produce more heat, the same heat, or less heat that the 11 I have in there now? it's very hard to work in there with all those damn lights. And i'm sure it'll only get worse as the girls get bigger.

Well enough with writing here are the pics.

BTW, i've noticed I have over 1100 views, but not to many ppl chiming in on the grow. It's cool with me if ppl wanna comment and tell me what they think, drop some hints/tips, whatever, i'd especially like some negative comments. Tell me what i'm fucking up you know? Help me help myself, na mean?

I think you're doing things right, that's why there aren't too many comments. You'll get more (comments) when you start flowering.

The only issue I see with the rubbermaid setup is space (as you're already running into). I did a single rubbermaid and I thought of it as only a starter box. I'm not sure if you have expandability on the height with the double setup (as the plants get bigger). I would suggest LST as well with your setup as you get more growth.

I have a grow that I started on 1/1 and your's looks right on track growth-wise with mine. Keep up the good work!

Thanx for the input bro, you know what they say, no news is good news right? lol, yea I definatly plan on LSTing, 2 more nodes and i'm starting that (as well as Topping) Really my only worry now is heat, with the 2 extra lights the temps are now high 90's. But with the 2 new lights the girl on the right has perked up signifacantly and I see no adverse effects on the other 2, matter of fact the middl girl looks better too. So as long as they are growing and looking good commen sense would dictate don't worry. But I still worry. Shit any input on controlling heat in a rubbermaid is greatly appreciated.

Great thread! I'm anxious to see your garden grow. With CFLs, you can use the 65K for veg, then switch bulbs to 27K when you induce flowering to maximize efficiency and generate thicker buds. The downside is that you have to buy two complete sets of CFLs.

Sup E? Yea bro, I'm with you on that, I have both sets right now of K right now. Ive got like 8 65k bulbs and 2 27k bulbs for a mixed spectrum of light for the girls.

Update for everyone else. Since earlier I put in 2 new bulbs and that raised the temps, I removed 2 bulbs that weren't directly on plants to even the heat out a lil bit.

i always used to trty to full grow with 2700k but they grow so sad its unreal.

if i had better transport id have a propper veg/flower cabinet with 2,200w 6500k and 2700k.

also im scared my plants will burn havving the light as close as eveyone puts them to the plants, also because i dont have a fan i gotta leave my windows open all day nd night so they get fesh air and dont burn up.

would it be best to do what everyone sais and wait for somethink bad to happen or keep the lights how they are because they feel pretty warm on my hands and the plant will get reAL WARM ASWEL.

nice to see you got more bulbs it all helps,i have a funny feeling ur gonna pull somethink good out of this clf grow gl m8.

thanks

I would NEVER top an indoor grow - with LST you can keep the height in check. If you do cut, it should only be after you've run out of horizontal space from LST.

Two things on the temps:

1. I had a grow this past summer in the attic and I couldn't get the daytime temps below 90 - the plants grew and finished fine. It's not ideal, but it will work.

2. If you're that concerned, add more fans on the top for outtake. You can daisy-chain as many PC fans as the box will hold - or at least 4, which is what I've done - I have a 12v adapter. I don't use fans for intake - I've read that the airflow is much better when you only use fans for outtake only - just a hole for intake.

If possible, you can also place a fan outside the box, blowing on the box itself. Although this not work if stealth is involved, it will help with cooling the box.

Good luck!

Huh, crazy, I think ur's is the first post i've seen where topping wasn't recomended in a small grow. How come? The stress not worth it? I thought it would be a good idea cause it'll cause the girls to stay squat and bushy.

Yea I feel you on no inlet fan and just a hole, that way when the exhaust fans are sucking out, they're pulling through the in-hole right? That's a good idea bro. I've heard ppl say that before but I never got it until now.

Also, anybody got a good idea for carbon filters ontop of my outlet fans? Does lowes/home depot/menards have anything I could just plop ontop of the fans that would work? Right now it's not a problem, but when I start to flower it will be i'm sure.

You mean by what everyone is telling you put ur CFL's closer to ur plants? I would definatly do that, i'm keeping mine like 2 inches above and my girls are good. I think u'd only have a prob if u had some water droplets on the leaves cause then the lights heat the water up and burn that part of the leaf. And I hope that I do pull something good outta the 'maid too bro. :)

CFL grows are by nature (no pun intended) short in time (should be anyway). Especially, if growing in a small space, like you (and I) have. The whole thing should be over in less than 100 days (I like to shoot for 90).

You would never prune once flowering has started. So, with 30-40 days of veg (roughly), there is definitely no need to prune. The plant just won't get big enough to warrant it. LST will keep the plant height down and pruning/cutting causes growth to slow temporarily, which is in contrast to the quick turn-around.

I've had 8-10 grows in my life and never have found pruning necessary on an indoor CFL grow.

Outdoors, where you could veg for 3-4 months, pruning makes sense. Never on a CFL grow (in my opinion).

That's my two cents...for whatever it's worth.

Yea I def see what ur talking about bro, but I was wanting to top cause then you have 2 more top colas, i was thinking that would be a good thing, or would those 2 colas only equal one cola w/o topping?
