is this a kosher setup?

Well, the leaves didn't exactly drop. I pulled off the ones that were completely dead looking and I didnt have to "pull" them off either. They came off really easy. I went really light on nutes the whole grow. Only Alaskan fish fertilizer at small doses during veg and now tiger bloom at only 1 tsp/gallon instead of 3/gallon like it says on container. I water only when completely dry every few days. It hasn't even been 3 full weeks. More like 2.5. Never flushed before, but since it's my first grow and there's conflicting info about it I wont flush this time around.

This is definitely a strong strain, and if you read back through the whole thread you'll see what I'm talking about. I give all credit to the plant. This is just a first grow and i'll step it up soon when I have the cash. I'm still happy with what happened this grow around regardless of how bad anybody thinks I did lol. It's called a learning experience for a reason.

I thought maybe since I used so little nutes on it the whole grow was the reason for the yellowing and dying leaves so early into flowering. I ph'd quite a few times and everytime it was good. I havent ph'd in awhile though. I'm using pure spring water from the store. One gallon for regular watering and one with only tiger bloom. I water with TB every other watering so I don't think it has anything to do with nutes or PH, just lack of nutes and possibly some temp/humidity issues.

Hey hey man how's it going I was just checking in to see how your plant was doing and I have a few pictures of my plant that I took today and I was hoping to compare them with yours, pics?DSC_0457.JPG DSC_0458.JPG

Sorry I'm using crappy camera atm. The buds are really frosty on its 4th week. Hoping for only 4 more. I'll take better pics soon.

Well I'm technically on my 10th week, 8th if u start when preflowers showed up. And just my personal opinion you may want to pluck off those dead leaves they are shading your buds. Looks good though! You have a lot more brown pistils than me so it looks like you'll have a faster finishing strain

I was pulling the dead ones off, but then a few people on this thread and through reading I've heard it's better to leave them on til the plant is completely done sucking them dry and then when the leaf is ready it just basically falls off at the slightest movement. I wish I didnt pull them off now. I see what you're saying about buds getting more light though and maybe on my next plant i'll try it. I think I just need more light.

Yes, some pistils are turning brown and I'm waiting on my loupe to get here so I can start looking at trichs. I just hope this plant gets done in 5-6 weeks the most. I have to learn to be patient because i'm getting sick of waiting. That's what I get for using cfl's.

It's funny, right before switching there was about a 1-2 inch difference in height in the plant but now the one side is way higher. And those big buds are really dense and heavy. It looks better in person lol.

Dood, 60 bucks 150W HPS on ebay. Even if you were to only hit .5 GPW at harvest, thats still around 75Grams of flowers.

Yeah when I build my new setup soon. You think 4 feet high is high enough for hps? I dont know how to hook up a ballast but I'm sure I can learn. Do those bulbs ever get damaged in shipping because that would suck.

4 is cutting it close, 5 is better. 12-18 inches from the tops when growing.

Ive had bulbs sent in the mail for me, no problem. Never had one break, and that includes the bigger 1000WMH. If it was damaged, make a claim.

You dont have to learn how to wire a HPS, the fixture is complete, just plug into a timer.

If you can go with the biggest light. You can add a plant in every 2 weeks, so you are harvesting every few weeks instead of every 2 months.

For example: Keep your CFL's for your mother/veg area. Make a clone every week. Let those grow out for a few weeks, then push those under the bloom light every 2 weeks. Its all about timing, and if you get it right a small 400 W hps will make a constant supply of flowers.

I like this idea. Is this what you refer to as perpetual?

^^^ yup, you will have a nice steady flow of flowers instead of a harvest every few months. And the mom will always be putting out cuttings, so you will wont need seeds anymore.

Mother--->cuttings clones---->veg---->flower.

So I'll put in clones every 2 weeks or whatever rotation you want. 2 week timing worked good for me.

The only problem is canopy height in perpetual, but if you're running in pots of dirt, just put something under the pot to raise it up. But I'll keep things small, I like the lollypop style of weed.

Yeah so basically just grow 2 of these fem seeds out and make one a mother? I guess I'll have to research it more. Wont be able to do this for at least a month or whenever tax returns come. Hopefully this current plant will be close by then. Thanks for putting that idea in my head though.

Yeah you could grow 2 of the fem seeds, when you cut the top off of them when they get bigger, make clones from those.

Since femmed seeds are what they called "selfed" they wont have much phenotype differences.. That strain has a pineapple smell to it, and a sativa type high, if youre curious. There are slight differences in the plants you have to label everything so you know whats good.

Week 1 -Drop both seeds, /veg
Week 2 -Veg,18/6
Week 3- Veg,18/6
Week 4-Top plants for 2 clones 1 each put 1 of the best into bloom. Put other back into veg.
Week 5- Take care of clones, and vegging mom.
Week 6- Wait one week.
Week 7-Clones that have been veggin for 2 weeks should be ready to go into flower
Week 8-Make cuttings from mom.

Something like that.

Something like that, the short veg times will keep the plants small, when you get a bigger light, you can adjust your veg times so you can grow bigger plants. You will need a bigger light if you want to move in this direction. I think a 250HPS or LED equivalent is the smallest you can go..

I cant take good pics atm, but I wanted to run something by you. I've researched but cant really find an exact answer. Well the buds have been growing orange hairs for awhile and has some pretty swollen calyxes. Does this just mean the calyxes at the nodes? Doesn't that usually mean peak maturity? it's only just entered its 5th week. Don't have a loupe atm, but i'm waiting on one that wont be here for at least a week, maybe more.

Looking at your journal you're about 6-7 weeks into flower.

I think you're close to peak ripeness, the pistils should be a mix of white a orange. And the plant literally looks ripe, dont look at calyxes look at trichromes with your loupe... There's a few indicators of ripeness, your plant wont be consuming as much water, or its not throwing out anymore white pistils.

Looking at pistils is kinda old skool way of looking at ripeness, but it does work.

Or cut a bud off for sampling..
