is this a kosher setup?

Hello. I am a new grower who has the money to buy proper equipment but I have a wife who refuses to let me spend that kind of money on something like growing herb. She's willing to let me grow in a bathroom that nobody uses with 2 150 watt CFL hooked into 2 reptile terrarium light holders hanging over 4 small plants. All bagseed btw but from really good veggies. I used organic potting soil that I already had as a medium, but it sat outside in the elements for a few months. I basically wanna know if this is even worth going for.

oh and I bought Scott's all purpose plant food 10 10 10 mix to use but haven't used it yet as I cant find anything on the internet about using that particular mix on cannabis. Will that work?

2600 lumens per bulb btw

Actual 150w or 150w equivalent? If actual I would drop to 2, hope for a female, then only flower the best one plant. If the equivalent then you can play or just get a little experience, but don't expect much.

Yield isn't my main concern but potency is. You think those light holders will hold hps bulbs or any other bulbs that I need? Sorry for all the questions , but I'm obsessed with making this work lol. Anything that I could add to this set up that would help but wouldn't be difficult or expensive?

about 4 more of those lights and you might be ok .... i would see if i could talk the old lady into maybe a 4' 4 bulb t5 .... not really any other bulb you can run in that socket besides a led cob

Much like owning your first fish tank. You start out with one gallon, and over time you learn and upgrade. You'll be at 100 gal before you know it! And your wife will be thankful since you'll be saving thousands of dollars in Top Shelf herb!

thanks guys. Been smoking for close to 20 years but never considered growing it myself. The one seedling on the far left is from a particularly dank strain (I live in Woodstock,NY so I get nothing but good bud) so I would probably want to grow that one as long as its a female. I just wish the wife would let me buy better equipment and do I myself instead of spending $100 a week and leaving late at night in the winter time driving in the snow to get bud lol. Cant tell you how many times I got my car stuck in snow on my dudes dirt road that never gets plowed.

2 CFL's wont do one plant never mind your four, when flower time comes you will need treble amount of those CFL's. sorry dude. Get LED.

as a wife, the safety issue of having to not leave the house to obtain bud along with the cash savings relative to the initial investment obtained from growing your own, i see no reason why she would want to limit you in this endeavor. a T5 would work better, at least invest in that to flower two or three.

your picture indicates that you only have 80 actual watts over those four girls, and while it's enough for now, it will definitely not be enough in the future. good luck with your grow and welcome to RIU.

Tell the old lady your fed with what shes talking and give her a piece of paper where you write on what you save in four month and what you pay for a real kosher setup once because it lasts for ages.
just get her with the money thing cost for weed gas car fixing ya know what I mean right?

Get ya t5 for veg and a 600 hps or 315w cmh and the stuff you need to make good room climate. You will never spend a dime on weed anymore.

Dude cfl or t5 ain't gonna do shit for flowering unless your okay with harvesting like two grams. Tell ur wife to suck one and go get a 400 or 600 watt.

Thanks everybody. I keep hearing about t 5s. Only thing i'm worried about is the bathroom is very small. Like a 8x8. I was thinking of getting some splitters and just going to town with a crap load of cfls.Well a couple more anyway. I'll have to research the MH and the hps lights. The wife will be greatful in the long run i'm sure. I got frustrated the other day and was about to just throw it all away and she was like "you're just gonna let them die like that?". I think she is coming around. It's just that she doesnt smoke and she's worried about someone coming to my house and seeing my plants(if you wanna call em that lol). She's more paranoid than I am.

Just chill. Setup a carbon filter and you will be good. 8x8? Man you can grow a lb in hat and then save that 800 for 2 months that you would have normally spent and buy your wife some earrings for being so sweet.

I know i have to do my own research and all but since you people are so well educated on this subject, maybe you can tell me about how much i'll have to spend on the minimum requirements for a decent harvest. Ballpark figure? You gotta figure i'm spending at least $400/month on herb alone and i dont even have a job atm. It would be a worthy investment.
