May 1st for me in the north west. It's too early to grow outdoor. I'm vegging indoors and then may first putting them outside. If you have the funds I say start sprouting seeds now indoor with a fluorescent tube (6400k) and grow them until May or whenever you have at least 14 hours light, just check on google in your area for example (how many hours of sunlight April 7 2016 Orlando Florida) and you'll see one the first couple links and every day the days get longer and longer until July some point then the days get shorter and the plants start flowering.
Just make sure frost isn't an issue in your area and see when the last frost is.

But id get them started indoors because nature can be pretty harsh for a little seedling outside.

13hrs of daylight. thats close to 14
Yeah it'll start flowering and then in a couple weeks re veg which in turn will slow and stress the plant considerably and could effect yield and potency. Believe me I'm impatient too. I'm wanting to put mine outside right now. In my honest opinion id say last week of April you can get away with planting outside as a seedling before it reaches sexual maturity the darkness period should be short enough at night to keep it in veg.

I done exactly what you said to do about checking the times on the web for your area..I live in the north east...and I usually have my plants outside ...in buckets...Sometimes around nowish..but I leave m n buckets incase it gets cold so I can bring em in... but I have been running my plants on 14 10 indoors...they are about a month old..all but two..which are a month and a half...the ones that are a month are about 7 ta 9 inches and 7 ta 10 nodesign high...my problem is I took them outa my closet to water then and I was checking some of the ones I topped and got to looking ...one had pollen sacks all over it...it stunned me...I pulled it instantly..but do u think this means the rest of my plants are trying to flower...they show no sign of it but I'm just worried..males always show first ya know. .I wanted to keep on this schedual so they won't reveg when they go outdoors. ..would u reccomened anything...I added a half hr to my timer thinking it would simulate the days getting longer...prob should have only added a few min though

Don't fret it, as long as you don't have buds on the females by the sound of it you don't. I had 4 males out of 8 plants. The males always show first. I just ripped em without even feeling nervous. They show preflowers 4-6 weeks old. Even if they aren't flowering. I think you're fine with putting em outdoors when it's 14/10 outside. Imo I feel like back and forth between indoor lighting and the sun will stress them.

I'm running mine at 24/0 and when it's time to go outside I'm just going to put them in indirect sunlight for a couple days and then move them to direct sunlight. I put my males outside immediately after I assumed they were male to give them time to grow and show and not waste my grow room space and they didn't get stunted at all.

I live in so-cal and have some seedling going that are a couple weeks old. I have always started "early" and never had a problem with them getting stressed or flowering prematurely. Only problem I've experienced from doing this is that the plant will become root bound early in the season if you do not provide enough room in a container(of course), causing stress to the plant and stunts its growth significantly if not transplanted. If you plan to plant into the ground I wouldn't worry about it. With planting in the ground this early you can expect huge bush/tree depending on strain, along with longer flowering time and later harvest than usual. If planting in containers I would recommend you get big containerscreen to accommodate the roots through out the season. This year I plan to plant in 15 or 20 gallon smart pots and see how well they work. From what I hear the smart pots are great for preventing your roots from spiraling up once they reach the walls of the container. Living in California you don't have to worry too much about lighting considering we are close to equator. Try to put them in an open space where they will have full sunlight through out the entire day and they should get enough light to keep em vegging.

I have read and seen videos of plenty of respected Growers .. like jorge cervantes. .saying that if you start your plants indoors u need to either figure out how long the sun will be shining when u plan on taking them outdoors and match that time so they won't get on a different light schedual and try to flower or something...I use to run thsm 24 hrs and put thsm outside when it was wsrm enough...they grow well..but I do believe they suffer because if that...I'm growing in 45 gal and 100 gal smart pots btw...I think if your constantly taking them in and out it might bother them somewhat but I really believe it helpes them harden off for one and I know for a fact they grow more when. U take thsm outdoors...everytime I do my plants look beautiful the next morning..

I've always heard days longer than 13 1/2 hours, or nights shorter than 10 1/2 hours would prevent early flower problems. What I can't seem to find is if that is actual daylight, or length of visible light. Down here in NW Florida I only have 12 hours 45 minutes of daylight, but 13 hours 32 minutes of visible light. Which ever it is, I started too soon. About half of the 26 plants I have in the ground are showing early flower. I know they may be stunted, but since I'm hunting males, I just take the opportunity to sex them early.

Yeah I have always wondered about the visible light thing myself...I know the plants start using that light..but I myself wondered the same thing and haven't been able to find anything on it ...I kinda just split the time in between how "sun up" and visible light and determine how many hrs of direct light my plant are getting ..if that makes sense
