Is 400 watt hps enough power to cause suspicion?

A friend of mine is starting some tomatoes inside his apart. He dont have internet but I been lurking here for a while and asking for him. He pays his light bill at his apartments but the landlord gets the bill and charges him with the rent.

He has 2 desktop computers is the most thing that takes up power. Is 400 watts hps + 100 watt inline fan enough to raise an eyebrow since the landlord is getting the bill? I know alot of people use 1000 X 4 hps systems plus window ac's and fans but they pay their own bill.

Any input would be great, or if I put it in the wrong section let me know where to go thanks.kiss-ass

No its not really suspicious at all. It will raise your bill like by 40 or 50 bucks. Not much at all.
50? I okay thanks anyways, I got one of htem old ladys that are nosy as shit, she walked in my apartment wihtout even knocking just to check if my oven was clean? then gave me shit about an extension cord on the floor.

It will only be about 30 bucks a month more if that but being he is obviously a snoopy fuck he will notice it and might ask questions, who knows. I'd find a place where you get utilities in your name.

Only 15% of residences in the US have smart meters installed and most only are used to help you save money on your bill by monitoring when you use the electricity being peak and off-peak hours usually charge different rates.

Rather then buying grow items you need to save up for a new place to live, sounds like trouble.

Question, if you're growing.. I mean if your friend is growing tomatoes why does he have you on a marijuana forum asking about suspension? Even if you,. I mean your friend gets busted they're going to find tomatoes. It's legal to grow those inside or out. That being said, next to no one gets busted for power usage. a 400w increase is very, very minimal and will cause NO suspension. AC's pull more than that as do most gaming computers. You shouldn't.. I mean your friend shouldn't worry about that "tomato" grow getting found. ;)

I honestly doubt your landlord.. I mean your friends landlord will read the bill and jots down the power usage each month. Unless it's a dramatic increase like 100 bucks a month.

A 400 watt light is not gonna add much to your power bill to find out the exact amount that it will raise your power bill call and ask the utility company what there rates are per KWH kilowatthour the rate will vary from location to location, after you find out the number multiply .5 KWH by the amount of hours you will be running it then multiply that number by the price per KWH and you will have your total. The standard rule of thumb to not be suspicious is about 1 KWH per bed room in a residence, since your landlord is very very nosy you may want to cut your other power usage down so that there doesn't appear to be any spike in usage, a great way to do that is by replacing standard incandescent bulbs with CFL's they are so efficient that they will probably be able to cover the usage from your grow set up and still save you money, they also reduce your ac bill in the summer time because they don't put out near as much heat

I originally thought same thing when i first started, Think about most computers these days are 400 - 600 watt on avg, A/cs avg 1000watt, Cant see it making any Big noticeable difference. I have heard about the time of day meters, Some ppl says they like them to get cheaper rates at ngihts, but then again the time of day meter reads everyday and the amount of hours used, so they may be bale to put 12hr light everyday with a grow,But 400W You got no worries, That is if u keep Smell/Noise Down in a apt

400 watts aint a big deal....u might (or ure friend) might be able to pull off 600....add that fan and maybe another and u should be good...if the start asking shit (which is never good) tell him to blame it on a portable heater/a-c or sumtin

400 is nothing. I run about 3600w and they installed a smart meter mid grow. Bill went down $100. and they don't even ask about how much I use. But with a landlady that just walks in and is that picky wouldn't do it. Aldo would tell her to stay the fuck out.
