Inexpensive CO2 solutions for any room

I have been useing a very cheep but very effective way to keep my space filled with co2. Take a medium sized bowl and fill it just over half with around 100 degree water, disolve as much pure sugar as the water will take, add one whole packet ( about a large tablespoon) of active dry yeast ( I use red star), make sure the yeast is not a clumpy ball in the bottom of the bowl, mix it up good with your fingers. you can watch the co2 start happining within a few minuts, the bowl will start to bubble and so on( like making a bread starter) just leave it in your space in a central location. when the yeast eats all the sugars, it will not "bubble up" anymore just add more sugar and mix it up again! one packet of yeast usualy goes three or four days in my room without having to add more sugar. More bowls for a bigger room, im flowering 6 under a 1000 HPS in a 8x8 room and my co2 is right on the money for the space I have! yeast is three bucks for a three pack, inexpensive and easy! After a day or two the co2 will start to get trapped under a little fluffy yeast ball on top of the water, just mix it up and dont worry, you will know when the yeast needs to be changed because it wont feed on the sugar any more. This method is working really well for me and its inexpensive, and more user friendly than tanks and timers for smaler rooms. Its not the greatest pic but here are my girls after two weeks of flowering. Good luck!!! And let me know how it works for U :peace:. Respect

Tagee,

Interesting idea. I'm assuming you have some sort of a CO2 monitor so that you can actually measure the increase in CO2 that your mixture is creating? How much is it raising the rooms CO2 levels on average?

The cheapest "dual Meater" I could find was $350.00 bucks! and they go up from there, this method is one shared by family growers in my circle, it seems to be quite non evasive, and produces great results for not alot of money. I would be interested in an actual reading but off the hip it works great for us! If you do try it out, and have a way to check levels, give us a reading! Any help is always help. Thanks! Respect

I don't have a CO2 monitor myself- I was hoping you did so that you could tell us just how much your method was increasing the CO2 levels in the room. The method sounds like It should work, I'm just curious about how much CO2 it is creating in comparison to one of the commerical models.

not to sure, but it sure smells like a brewery around here! they have a " disposable " meater at the garden center for like 50 bucks, might look into it but I know in Baking the C02 its really what makes every good bread, so we tried it in a room with no C02 at all and they got happy quick! Never stopped, but funny enough never thought spend the money on a meater. I have always gone with what " looks good" There is no yellowing or crusty tips, and everyhing is nice and vibrant! If I break down and spend the money I will deffinatly spread the word on levals, but for now I shoot from the hip! Respect
