If you could Disappear, where would you go?

Guatemala!!!! Great Sats there, plenty of jungle, great soil, and one can disappear there.

Meh...it's fun the first few times. I used to have a habit of that. The last time I did it was in '03. I had a toxic g/f who I couldn't stop going back to, so one morning when she left for work I got the itch to go. I didn't know where. =) I put a suitcase of clothes in my car, my two dogs, left her a note saying keep everything you want, burn the rest. Oh yeah, I live in MI.
Got on I-75 southbound with no clue. I wasn't bored yet when I hit Ohio, but I was thinking of her so I rolled down the window and tossed my cell phone. 24 hours later I ran out of road in the S. Florida and didn't feel like swimming to Cuba, so we got a dog friendly house and I never called or spoke to anyone I knew for over a year. My mom was pretty pissed when I finally called. I stayed there a total of 2 years. It changed my life forever.
Key West has many effects on people. Your's is one of the first POSITIVE experiences I've heard in a good while. I grew up there! (Born and raised)

Cool thread. I actually think about this during the brutal northern winters we have. I think about islands: Hawaii, Greece, French Polynesia, BVIs or USAVIs. Then India, Vietnam, or Japan would be cool. I like traveling to new places anyway, it expands your horizons. But mostly I think about getting on a boat to Hawaii and living like a beach bum for a year or so.

if you disapear and you dont want people to know where your going why would you tell people here?

but in any case. nicely wooded, with a river and a patch of soil to grow food. somewhere in the mountains

because we can all migrate to the same place and smoke obscene amounts of marijuana

but the good part about disappearing would be knowing the fact that absolutely no one knows who you are, so you can totally invent a new life for yourself and make up some cool shit if your life's been too boring for you... like you could hitch a boat to some other country, and then make them let u off on a side with not a lot of people in the ocean, then like tear ur clothes up and swim to a crowded shore and pretend u drifted there like "what the hell?? where am i?!? wheres my ship?!?! is jackson alive?! what year is it???" and people would be like ohhh mannnn, i wanna be that guys friend because he's probably a war hardened navy seal who just jumped ship from the future.... or some shit.. i don't know, maybe my imaginations just running wild hahahah

i call BULLSHIT ! i just have coffee with the Mo' Fo's... they told me different
Clearly, they were just trying to draw you into a false sense of security. Did they feed you along with the coffee? Fattening you up, that's what that was. If I were you, I'd either dig a hole and get in it or put a nice marinade in the bathtub and get in that. One way or another, they're coming for you...

Better bring a bag full of money, it get's EXPENSIVE, think 10 euro's for a pint of beer kind of expensive.

If i dissapeared it would be to an island or mountain somewhere, but not in any country with anything to dow ith the Western world, they will do everything in their power to find you, and to start extracting money and blood from you. I'd like to go somewhere where i have the legal right to live my life as i need and not have authorities thinking they own me. America seems to have all the bet locations, and you even have gun laws, but the laws seem pointless and they'll come and find you and interefere. No thanks.

I'll move to a cave on the private island of some oil magnet :)

Hmmm...I always think about disappearing but never where I would go...the adventure is in not knowing where you are going...became addicted to running away in my early years...lol

yes but u know the saying, the grass is always greener...

i think the US is an ok place when you're young but our elderly live on the streets sick. i don't want to get old here, i don't even want to pay taxes to a ssytem that allows that to happen to people.

i love the ring. when's the wedding? :-P

I didn't stay in key west. A friendly bartender told me that if I continued drinking like I was and happened to pass out anywhere down there, I was highly likely to wake up with a new husband spooning me. Something about it being a huge sausagefest type environment. I went back north a bit to see South Beach and ended up staying in that area. Lots of cinnamon girls that didn't hablas the englais, which was just what I needed. =) There really is no other place like South Beach, especially at night.

Oh I forgot to mention, the pot experience was bad there...everything from the first time I tried I ended up buying a bag of chamomile in an alley. It was taped up so well they were long gone by the time I opened it. The second time I talked an innocent local who was minding his own business into helping me, and then watched him make a mistake in front of a cop and get arrested with pot he wouldn't have had on him if not for me. He made the dumb move but I was the root. The last time I tried, I ended up way way out in an orange grove with some mexicans that I'd harassed at a beer store. They didn't kill me, but they decided not to sell to me since the situation was too spooky and I was too white. They gave me a little handful, about an eighth. Anyway, mostly great times tho.

Right Here...My idea of Xanadu, Angkor Wat, Shangri-la. The only thing that is missing is beautiful female elves that are perpetually 19 and don't know what clothes are...

i am moving over there hahaha. u r moving over here!! :bigjoint:
I'm Canada bound me. Having a hard enough time getting permission to cross their border, god knows how much work would be involved to get into the states :D Only myself to blame though  would have been easier for them to just hang me from the rafter and forego all this polava with visas and rehabilitation. Guess it is my big disappearing act though, couple of years minimum, half up in the ountains skiing, half wandering around the wilderness looking for people to hire me as trimmer :D
