What's new kids? Any new 2015 models you're raving about? Or 2014 models that can be had at a killer price? I've had yet another 600 take a shit on me. I think I'm ready to buy a fuggin' LED.

Shwag if you want my opinion you can believe the marketing department of LG LED Solutions, aka TOP LED, aka Mars II, that you can get something for nothing or begin a conversation with this gent:

Shwag there is a massive glut of cheap, Chinese factory compliant LEDs of which most, if not all, are unfit for growing MMJ and you should look into CMH before you buy "those" panels. You've been warned and that's all I'm saying about that. There are some real good, but pricey horti based panels out there that are more for people who are growing crops where they must be able to accurately estimate (oxymoron much ) their yields. Otherwise the rest of the usual suspects are a few months off from introducing anything new.

Hi:

I wanted to let the community on RIU know about a new product that has just been released by Osram. It is the Zelion HL line of LED Grow Lights. All are made by Osram using top bin Oslon LEDs (actual LED specs also available). We currently are the sole distributors of these new fixtures. All are IP65 and UL/ETS rated. They are dual spectra (red and blue) and cover growing areas from 1 sf to 6sf, consuming 25-150W of power and producing up to 1100 mmol/m2s of PAR @ centerpoint. I had posted regarding this product earlier in 2014 when the product was still under development and couldn't release many details at that time. Attached is a product specification sheet - a press release as well as update to Osram's website should be occurring shortly. If I can answer any questions or provide any additional product information I would be happy to.

Thank you in advance
Dan

Shit got serious!.............big player entering the hort market, must be a coming trend;P

SLOW edit CM....banking on a monochromatic led spec is shocking TBH, but i'm sure R&D showed it as the most efficient for GENERAL use........oh well

here's somethig that makes me laugh, an "independant" grow review site that also sells the lights the lights they review on the same site ..... i dont know where to start. obviously this guy was payed or comped a panel to do a review and then the cocksucker turns around and is selling them on the same site. this is a prime example of the people that are fucking this industry up and a prime example of where you should not expect reliable honest specs and info on LED grow lights and certainly should not be buying from marketeers like this either.

im about to look into purchasing some new lights and i have found that so many companies carry the exact same light so im going to be looking for a supplier that is not charging rediculous mark ups but i have found that dealing with the right company rather than factory direct is the best bet as i have dealt directly with factories before and have run into some major headaches as a single person only buying a few units they dont give a shit about you and i got far worse service than any other led company i have bought from. the real question is who is going to be stepping up to the plate this year? im thinking of getting some more novas as ive used them in the past but dealing with their factory proved to be less than worth the feew bucks i saved going direct.

I think this is such an important point that goes unmentioned most of the time. It seems that LED lights being such expensive pieces of kit (with the potential for huge mark-ups on low quality items) have attracted/exacerbated this practice most notably and it's almost tough to blame a salesman for trying to earn a better living, but quite honestly, fuck 'em all in the ass!!!! That's one of the things this place and community is so fantastic for.

It doesn't look that bad to me. He evaluates Area 51 and has an excellent conclusion, listing no "cons."

His analysis is soft and ecumenical. Seems he doesn't want to rock the boat much and take a firm stand.

For example: he praises A51's use of top parts, mentioning how A51 publishes the diodes used. He doesn't criticize the over-priced lights like Kind and BlackDog for not doing so (which can only mean they use epi-whatever diodes). It's left to the reader to realize the other brands are silent.

It doesn't look like he has a vested interest in any light, he's just trying to funnel the purchase of any light for a commission. He still mentions A51 and encourages people to go to the A51 site even though he doesn't get a commission.

So, IMO, it's not as biased as it could be. But, it's certainly not as objective and critical. Seems he doesn't want to take a tough stance on anything.

Hello:

I must make a point of clarification - I am not, nor in any way associated, with the author of, nor the website http://ledgrowlightguide.com. Furthermore, I have no idea who they are and this is not a HydroGrowLED situation. We are distributors of Osram specialty lighting products and this is our only Horticultural based product.

The high price is indicative of the build quality, R&D/Engineering/Tooling costs, IP65 testing, certifications from UL, ETS and other overhead you would associate with bringing a new product to market for a huge company the size of, and complexity of Osram. They are very well built fixtures using the best BIN Oslon SSL80 diodes and materials. The high efficiency (1100 mmol/m2s2 of only red and blue spectra @ 150W) and ROI over the life of the fixture, which is rated for 100k hours @L70, should also be taken into consideration. Unfortunately, all these things add up, and is reflected in the price.

I want to thank the forum for it's valuable feedback.

Best Regards
Dan
