Hey all. I'd like to graduate from CFLs in my tiny space. I have a 1ft square cab that's 2ft tall. Can't go for a bigger area til we move house so I was looking at LEDs as an option to upgrade in the meantime.

I'd like 1 unit rather than a number of small bulbs. Too many wires running around the sides of my space would irritate me - I'm a bit OCD with the tidiness!

Was looking at something like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/QueenshinyLED-Bestseller-Indoor-Hydroponic-Spectrums/dp/B00DSIRLYE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1399973643&sr=8-1&keywords=led ufo#productDetails

Only, I'd much prefer real reviews from people in the know about how well the product performs. But, the link I've posted is the general idea of what I'd like. Would it be too close to a plant though with only 2ft height?

Any suggestions would be well received :D Thanks guys.
With only a 2 ft. ceiling, an LED panel of any sort isn't feasible.
Look into Cree LED light bulbs, they're available at Home Depot.
Check out this thread by Captain Morgan, featuring Cree LED bulbs, you'll be impressed.

Good luck.

hi everyone,
I have been growing for only 2 years now, using soil and ebb/flo under a 250/400W hps.
I realized my set up is too big for my consumption and I want to grow all the year for pleasure.
So I decided I will give led a try. I already have been doing some DIY led test with success but I think the new panel are good enough not to bother building another led light.

I am beginning a new grow box from 0 and the only condition is stealth => no noise, small, efficient.
The grow space will be smaller than 2'x2' and maximum 4' high.
It will be hydro (maybe GT 205 or a small 2'x2' hydro system)
The style of grow is single cola/ SCROG/LST because I have done it for 2years with great success.
I am looking for a panel that would consume less than 100W and could cover a small area with the less height possible.

Here are the one I have seen, please help me to chose the best option according to my needs:
Area51led RW-75 (I have seen no review, no 660nm)
Hans panel 80W (seems to be running to hot, there is no heatsink and the vent just blow on a flat surface, I don't know if there is enough white, and the changing mode between veg/flo etc seems unprofessional as there is no switch)
Ideal spectrum led 4spot/63W (very professional and probably the most efficient, but the most expensive- more than 350$)

Otherwise, I though of making the exact hans panel but using only oslon SSL 80 on passive dissipation. (the only drawback is that I have never soldered 10mm square based and I don't know if it is possible, as I already find that soldering 20mm star was annoying)

bye

It doesnt run to hot, even at all, you actually might experience the opposite.
With 5 panels in a 4x4x7 tent, my room temperature doesnt go higher than 21°C. And there is a switch on the panel for the 3 different clone/mother/flower modes, it looks more like a jumper than a switch but it works very well and is more than enough.

Hi vladimiroslav,
thanks for the answer. When I mean too hot I speak about the junction temps of the led not the ambient temp.
And when I meant no switch I was referring to "the jumper" that I found a bit unprofessional "DIYed" whereas it cost already 250$ (pretty cheap for led panel I know).

What about your yield? they seem to perform well according to the grow I saw. For how long have you got them?
see ya,

Check out BML Custom

Select your own 3w OSRAM diodes + passively cooled bars with wide lens angles. I keep mine within 3"- no bleaching= more room for plant height

Real time data as you select the mix of diodes. Once you are satisfied, you lock it in and place your order

You can buy them in 12" increments= 1 x 12, 2 @ 1 x 12...

Ok, my bad :)
Bought my first panels in October last year (65w), and bought more in January (the 80w).
About my yield: first you have to know that Im a newbie grower, started last year. I just finished my 3rd session and started the fourth 3 weeks ago. My first yield was deceiving, they were auto's that I overferted. 3 plants, 20g under 2x 65w panel. Second session was a bit better but I didnt trained, topped or anything and still overfertilized the girls: 2 plants, 30g under 2x 65w panels.

The session I finished now was way better: 7 plants under 3 x 80w panels + 1 x 65w panel (and I added another 65w in the end). 2 plants yielded 28-30g, one yielded 20g, and 2 more are drying right now, around 50-60g/plant. So at least 200g, maybe 220 if I stretch a bit. I still have 2 other plants that need 2 months more before they're done (purple hazes) so I guess in the end it will be possible to hit the 300g for all 7 plants. Looking at my lack of experience and poor skills, I consider it as a success.

I also have the XGS-190 but I prefer the Hans for various reasons (Im doing a small test right now, 2 clones coming from the same plant, same node, same ferts, one grown under XGS, the other under the Hans: less stretch and faster flowering under the Hans). Cant comment on the RW150 tho.
Hope this helps a bit in your choice. Cheers!

the problem with the BML is they are yet to be proven so suggesting a light that may be and under performer isnt really the best advice...
It has all the elements WE look for in a quality light

You are not paying attention, there is a finished grow on RIU, + he has another in progress. Alas, not the best yielder, but he did not choose the strain for its' big dick

lol where did I say there hasn't been a grow done? I said its not a proven performer... seems you should pay more attention...

if your plan of attack is to burn money on a light without proven result then go for it... the fact is that its yet another "buy BML" post from you and little to back up its performance...

for the cash you need to outlay... there are others for the same amount that have dozens of grows....

Anyone with half a brain and not a total A51 shill, can see right through your posts

It is you are spamming, albeit, passive aggressively

yep you get a commission from bml. That post ^^^^ up above contradicts your other posts of you not pushing bml. Even though you have been.... .... like gg said in his thread, show some buds instead of pistils.. It takes a couple batches to see what a light can do. You don't even use the light by itself. You use 2 bars as supplemental side lighting. Until you do at least 2 grows only using bml's then you can talk. I'd rather run home depot cree than bml. Having to have the bars 3 inches away does no equal more height. It equals shorter plants ie less penetration , lower par. 18 -24 inches away equals more height.

I guess you can't be bothered with facts while spamming.

You should get your estrogen levels checked out.... they seem rather high.

You flog a light that was given to you without any form of evidence you can grow weed with it and are telling a guy to buy it...

I merely said that there are other options with a proven track record... I never mentioned a brand.

This response is not for you jackals, it is for those who are actually interested in buying an led, and wondering what to buy, and are confused/\ (put off more likely) by your constant attacks

Is it jealousy that my light was loaned to me- no out of pocket $$$?

My idea is to show more led options

Again, I never said it was going to blow your pet panels out of the water, and though you all seem to ignore it, I often recommend them as well. That said, they have all the high quality elements we look for

I see so much more even handedness towards PSUs new light, which apparently he did not pay for. YEAH PSU!

I never said, that my BML bars are making magic (you guys are HIGHLY prone to exaggerating, and outright lies). HOWEVER, they were doing nice things BEFORE I decided to move them to the HOT5 tent as supplemental lighting

Why don't you all sit back and wait for my next grow before continuing to bash a quality company?

As long as you continue to respond negatively, I will continue to defend myself. All at the expense of people looking for help

here you go

Some here will say, oh no, here he goes again, but, seriously...

If you/they spend 10 minutes on BML site you will quickly see they are the real deal, and there is one completed grow on RIU
, so it's not just me!

Definitely investigate BML Horticulture SPYDR 600. It has 6 x 3ft bars on a 3ft spine. The bars can be pushed together (veg) then spread apart creating a 3 x 3 light, covering up to 4 x 4- $999
Did you miss the part where I said there is a finished grow on RIU using one?

HINT: The grower was extremely happy. Certainly comparable to other grows I've seen using A 51, but BML will cover a bigger area better

I am using 2 x 3ft BML light bars now, AND have a custom spectrum SPYDR coming, to beta test

But seriously, they use high quality parts which is the key to a successful grow light

Have you taken the time to visit their site?

I'm done here
Check out BML Horticulture SPYDR 600, and soon SYDR 1000

I hope to have a 600 by next weekend

Super HQ company

You might also consider BML Horticulture bars

My led tent is 2 x 4 x 5

2 @ 3ft bars will be here today, which I am adding as supplements to my 2 ufo90s (3500/5000) that were gifted by Jeff at A 51

The bars can be purchased individually, and in various lengths. This can be helpful with budget constraints, as mj does not need massive light during veg.

I think these bars can be much closer to the plants + have passive cooling

Will post pics to my thread as soon they get here
A 51 is a good choice, but...
For $999 look into the BML Horticulture SPYDR 600. It will fill a 3 x 3,
or Apache Tech which is more expensive but excellent results

I got 2 BML light bars last Saturday and have a 600 on order.

Your biggest issue might be availability

http://www.bmlhorticulture.com/spydr-600-grow-max-spectrum/
BML sells individual light bars in as short as 12", You can configure the first 12" however you want. Add some 3000/2700/625/660...

So you can supplement for a couple hundred dollars
OK, but when people in this thread keep asking what to buy, I offer it as a suggestion

AT is solid, but expensive

Not that $1000 for the Spydr is cheap, but they say it covers 4 x 4

You would need 2 A 51s for that

Everything I've seen from BML is honest. Man knows his stuff as it relates to how to build a proper led panel
for horticulture

Perhaps if you guys checked them out you would see why I am enthusiastic

Each of my 3ft bars have 45 @ 3w Oslons. Not exactly shabby
Consider BML light bars. Oslon 3w, passive cooling

I am using 2 X 3ft now to supplement my 2 white ufo90s (3500/5000)

See my thread for pics

theres plenty more posts from you saying the same thing over and over
