Thanks for that

Now people can make up there own minds

I see nothing there to suggest I said buy BML over the others,

but only that it is worthy of consideration

and yet somehow... oh never mind

WOW, just WOW

Maybe this will help you sleep better

Anybody looking to spend $1000 to cover > 3 x 3 , who has low height constraints, needs passive cooling for stealth, made from a high quality company with a horticulture background (not mj, but working on it), using OSRAM 3w diodes, and lets you select your own spectrums

RUN OUT AND BUY THESE, EVEN THOUGH I PERSONALLY HAVE LIMITED EXPERIENCE TO SHARE WITH YOU.

However, BrickSquad finished one grow under a SYDR600 (pics in his thread + his 'review' and is on his second grow

https://www.rollitup.org/t/all-organic-strawberry-cough-dinafem-skywalker-kush-reserva-privada.786058/

https://www.rollitup.org/t/bml-spyder600-review.823767/

AND MY SPRDR 600 ( ON LOAN) MIGHT BE SHIPPED THIS WEEK.

Hope to see ration minds drop in for the show- GOOD or BAD

Even though flowering is going really well under my 432w hot5, I will replace it with the SPYDR 600.

Am I nuttz? We'll soon see

I currently have a 400w HID light and i've been offered a cheap 300w LED light, will it run off my current ballast? It's my first grow and could do with a few pointers. i.e how much water to feed and when + nutrients(i have plantmagic bloom boost). Struggling to keep temps down below 34C(93F) and humiditiy up above 21% and that doesn't last long. averages at 10-15%. do the lights need to be a certain distance away? mine are around 500mm away. This is my first grow, i planted 5 seeds 9 days ago, they are in 9l pots in a 600mmx600mm 1.2m tall tent in a cupboard. i have a carbon filter pulling air up into the loft. and fresh air being pulled in from a room behind. a fan blowing inside. they only way i can get temp down and humiditiy up is with tent and cupboard door open. I'm growing this to smoke so not too bothered about higher yields from HID over LED , i'd rather have the higher thc that LED is supposed to produce. HELP PLS

Lol led use drivers built into the circuit to run the lights. so, no you cannot use an hid ballast with an led light. Be careful with cheap leds, they may not perform as well as youd like. Any info on the light.

i had a feeling they would work without anything else just wasn't sure. I'm hoping it could be the answer to my heat problem. maybe the 400w hid are too big for the tent?

It will definitely help a lot with heat.

Hey pet flora

Correct me if I'm wrong but are you using one or more of the BML bars as side lighting? My question is, do they put off noticeable heat? Because they look about perfect for side lighting really. I've been building my own rigged up aide lighting fixtures and have not liked the results so if these can do what I want without too much heat I'd be a happy camper.

Anyone else, I'm not looking to get into the war that seems to be going on.

I bought a bunch of the Cree bulbs from Home Depot. i bought the daylight and the warm white ones.

I was wondering if it's possible to remove the frosted coating from the bulbs. It seems to be on the outside of these bulbs! I'm thinking that it might increase the amount of light to not have that frosted coating….Thoughts?

You could try but you have to take the globe off anyway to get at it.

You can put it in the oven for 20+ minutes @ 250F or so.

I have spun some off just by heating them up in a fixture over a few hours too.

....newer versions have better glue... so....

I also tried prying some off this way too^^^ but then attacking the seam where the glue meets glass and basically slicing it and then spinning the globe off. [Some worked flawlessly, some shattered in my hands...Use caution.] :peace:

Did you get the 9.5 watt versions or the one of the Larger wattages?

They get warm. I moved them up higher and grabbed them while on, no hot, just warm

Come by my thread to avid the jackals

Any suggestions for a closet LED grow? Yields are obv my priority but stealth is important too

Area of space = 6 ft long x 2.5 ft deep x 5.5 ft high

I run about 3-4 plants at a time. Max 6 in the future.

Not looking to spend exorbitant amounts of money, I've narrowed it down to a few choices. Can Pet or any other experienced posters guide me in the right direction?

Lights I've narrowed down -

(1) http://www.solasolu.com/collections/led-growlight-and-cooltube-reflectors/products/led180

Can I get away with one of these and some CFL supplements?

(2) http://www.topledgrowlight.com/led-grow-light/reflector-led-grow-light-144x3w.html#.U3TY3FhdVO8

IDK if the heat dissipation from the 5W diodes is worth the investment.

Neither of those does anything for me, though I have seen vg results with the green panel

Maybe 2 A 51 RW 75s= $500, whose lights are proven, and being used successfully by several RIU growers.

My GUESS is that one RW 75 will provide much more useful PAR watts to either of your choices

Im sure others can chime in with their ideas

$500 is a little out of my price range (I don't think that will include shipping costs either). I'd imagine the tech is improving every 6 mnths too. I don't want to drop half a grand on equipment I'll be replacing in a year or two.

is it a matter of go big or go home with LEDs? Do you have to drop ~$500 to get decent results, even in such a small space? I'm not into diy, so buying outright would be the best option for me.

If you want a good yield and to not have your leds crap out on you i would look at reputable names. I have some of the rw-75s and love em, unlikr most leds the coverage is what they say it is.
Also a51 offers free shipping to anywhere in the US and they have an upgrade option so that adresses that.

I do not foresee the A 51 (or similar grow lights) being obsolete. The new tech, like all new tech, will likely be a lot more expensive at roll out

Well, you could start with one, OR, find captainmorgans grow where he used only HD Cree bulbs. I kinda went that route, buying leds that I could later use in my home anyway

Here is what I am interested in... want to make the lights out our square aluminum channel as I have a good idea for water cooling the lights. I know the bml setups are supposed to be efficient without cooling, but I live where its hot and my hide is prone to overheating. Anyone know a good source for buying HD cree bulbs? I have the drivers, just want to get the right bulbs.

If $500 is out of your range....then LED PANELS are probably not for you. Maybe gradually change by adding cree household bulbs as you can afford each week and as your plantz grow...?

Also yes tech is improving and i get your point...but if you do take that that stance...then you will never buy a LED (or any technology) as it will alwayz be improving... :)

I really wish I wasn't a doorknob and had any sort of handy-man skills. I may have to collect tins and nut up for two panels. Do you think they can handle 3-4 plants?

thank you, fair enough. This is what I wanted to know...

Do you guys think 4 plants can comfortably scrog flower under two RW75s?

I've been trying to look up grows but haven't found any completed

Since they are new panels (same tech used for a few generations of A51) there isnt a lot of finished journals with these...actually i cant think of any....maybe check out 'natro.hydro' he is using 4 of them at the moment...
