I'm sure you can work out that I'm in Australia so cutter will probably be faster/ easier.

Anyway, back to my original question will 3-4 Vero 18's cover 1x2.5 (half the tent)? If someone can tell me the math (lumens or watts per square foot) I can work it out.

25-50w per sq ft 50w being optimal also cutter would be better for you anyway

And it is better to run 6 vero18 @500 than 3 @1050mA...same electricity but more spread and efficiency at low current...!
But if you need to buy some bigger for bloom...go for cxb3590 3500ºk cd!

I'll check out the numbers

Final question as I can source the cxa2530 same sort of price as the Vero 18's. Are they a better or worse choice in terms of output?

The output of any light emitting diode depends on how much power it is allowed to have.
And that's why people buy different size drivers? I probably sound dumb but I'm trying to learn as I grow so I have to be more or less impulsive when it comes to making investments. It adds up to useful trial and error in the end though.

Cxb3590 36V are 137w cob @3200mA if I remember well...2800mA is the nominal current...most of us used it @1400mA (50w) for efficiency reason (56% which mean 56% light and 44% heat...a 600hps is 34% brand new and decrease at first light! Not cob...!) and some used it @700mA (24w) 61% for even more efficiency...but I saw 1.7 gpw in soil with this!
And at this mA it run cool so they said 50000h at nominal current and we run them half nom current...so maube 100000h (20years grow...lol!)
And you can spread the area like you never was able to do it...same light Intensity everywhere...and a cob at 50w can cover easy 1.5x1.5 and stay effective I can prouve it!

I'm probably going to want to use 1400mA (50w) or 700mA (25w) to minimize heat in my 5'x2'x5' flower area with between 4 and 6 lights being Vero or cree cob cxb3590.. so does that sound about right? Is the next step to pick passive or active cooling? Thanks

Yes, some people prefer to buy the use lower bin quality light emitting diodes to save some extra funds. If you are savy you can increase the output of the driver before the diodes gets power.
 
Hi, so i have a grow space that is 5 feet long and 2 1/2 feet wide with a height of 6 feet 8 inches and what wondering what would be the best light for my situation. Any help would be much appreciated

Up to how many cobs can one driver support?

This is probably what I want since it is the lowest initial cost but I don't think it will cover my entire 5x2 footer, is that set up too small

Greetings

I was gifted a used led setup, 1-CLG-150-36 with 4-Vero 13 run through 4 -700ma LDD drivers
The CLG, Voltage, 31-41 V, Current 2.1-4.2 A
So if I am reading both data sheets right the setup is putting out ~ 11740 lumens
If I ran the Vero’s without the LDD’s
4@1050=15904
6@700=17610
8@500=17704

Suggestions/options, How much area could this setup grow plants properly.

Am I correct that a 25" long piece of the 5.886" heatsink would be able to passively cool two cxb3070s (BB)? Based on Supra's cob spreadsheet and if my math is correct, 2,698.44 cm2 (49.23%×49.83 watts=24.531 heat watts×110 cm2=2,698.44 cm2) of heatsink is required to passively cool one cob. 2,698.44 cm2 × 2 = 5,396.88 cm2 for two cobs. 5,396.88÷260.01 (1" of 5.886" heatsink)= 20.756" long piece of the 5.886" heatsink.

I have a total of 8 cxb3070s (BB) to be driven by 2 hlg-185h-1400b drivers. I want to put 2 cobs on each heatsink to distribute the weight and have flexibility with coverage in my 4x4 tent (plants will only occupy a 3x3 space max). Thanks in advance!
