New maker of grow panels. They've been making reef led for quite a while and also have a nice selection of diy stuff.
I'll be trying their new venture into grow lights , just ordered one of these myself, no area 51 fan boi here(although maybe I'll buy one of those to do a side by side.
I think (even though I haven't even received it yet) more than likely I'll be ordering a couple more of the onyx. Very good customer support even before you're a customer.

I guess...(being from Rapid LED) you could customise those XM-L2's for a few more 3000-3500k or whatever huh...?

Lookz like a quality unit though... :)

they don't carry the xm-l2 in every color but I am considering a custom spectrum panel or two. You can't get the onyx grow in anything but warm white .
You can buy the onyx housing and build however you want.

But I won't be running the onyx by itself. I have several other panels that will be running alongside the onyx.
One being a reef light, aqua illuminations Vega. Will also run a welthink wex 150(which I like a lot) .

Guess you could put a XPG or XTE in there...its not like they have to go out of their way to get them for you... :)

Lemme get the first one and play with it for awhile. and fix my flaky usb so I can upload from my camera again and I'm sure I wouldn't mind sharing the results.
And yes you would think they could get me whatever I might want . Lemme spend a few coins with them and I'm sure they and I will get along better and better.
They seem like some alright guys so far. rapid led.
I just like the idea of 10 watt emitters with more power than the area 51 which I'm def not above talking shit on even with zero experience with the panel or even seeing more than a picture of one. I see WW is doing pretty well but can do better.

They give discounts when people post journals using their stuff here. Kinda makes you wonder how much of the enthusiasm is genuine, and how much comes from people that received perks (or are hoping to). Anyhow I own an XGS and can vouch for its build quality, but I'd trade it in a heartbeat for 2 Hans panels or an SGS-160 at this point.

If anyone wants an XGS. I'll sell the 2-month old unit for $450.

I was being a bit of a monkey spunk....the company is great and nothing against them at all....i just like variety in my 'LED and other' section mouse scrollings... its starting to disappear a little...

Sigh, I was expecting a more favorable report. That said, the 75w cob/reflector light ($77+ free shipping) with multi-chip spectrums should bring it home

I bought 2, one for each side of my 3500/5000K 90w ufos that Jeff gifted me. That will push watts to ~ 300+

Also, perhaps, 190w (even with high l/w) just isn't enough. Now the result COULD be significantly better with Crees new 250+ l/w diodes

The link is 100w version http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/HY-3years-warranty-free-shipping-for-1pc-100W-veg-led-grow-lights-from-factory/114449_1518354856.html

dbkick, I think the main issue is total lumens/watt, or more accurate- umols/m*. Crees new offerings @ ~ 250 l/w should be a game changer, but in the mean time, I'm with you

I just ordered 2 @75w multi-chip cobs, which I will use during flower to supplement the 2 ufo 90w (3500/5000K) that Jeff gifted me

Link is 100w version. Mine are $77 and free shipping. At some point I will replace their cob

So recently in my area of the country the power companies have decided to do an "equalizing" of power rates, which means rates are going to double over the next year.... As the power bill has been going up i have seen my profit's slowing down, and this is posing some serious issues. 2 years ago i started to research LED lights but the price then was literally 4x what it is now, so i believe the time to make the switch is coming, and fast.

Keep this in mind, i do this for commercial reasons and high Yield is one of my largest factors. My current set-up is 4x8 room on 2x600w HPS growing 14-18 plants in a Sea of Green, harvesting 1-2 plants per week, as well as 400W Cloning/ mother room. i require plants to be able to yield 3-4 Oz's (80-100 Grams dry weight) for the switch to be worth it.

Ive heard alot about Lighthouse blackstar and im thinking of switching to 3x Chrome 270w's (810 watts) daisy chained to cover the 4x8 area. Due to the nature of the Sea of green and an uneven canopy i can allow plants in later stages to grow closer to the lights and allowing the smaller coverage area's needed for later flowering stages (2x3@18"~ for end flowering stages and 3x4@35" for first weeks).

Questions: Would the 3x blackstar chrome be able to replace the 2x Digital 600w HPS, and Cover the same area with less wattage? Would the Yield be more, or less than the HPS on the lower wattage? What are your opinions on blackstar, and if not them than whats a decent option?

Noooooo. I'm on my phone but if you are living off this investment you obviously want it to LAST! But be warned legit gear isn't as cheap as a Bstar. :eyeroll:

heck out GreenGenes run of BBK under ~6hundredsome LED watta in a 4x4, THIS is the company you need to get in touch with.

Let me decipher what Scotch was trying to say in his drunken phone stupor rant... :)

2 companies to look at for that size tent and reliability: 'Apache tech' and 'Area-51'

Bad Karma approves of Chronikool's translation of Scotch's drunken rantings.
Also, Bad Karma approves of the aforementioned lights, especially Area 51.

ha thanks guys... I enjoy my rants.

OP, when I had taken my PPFD meter to the hydro store and put it underneath their 400w MH there was no problem LEDs taking it like... 40% more with less draw, when I had put it under their 600 HPS, I was right on par with numbers, drawing >60% less.

I know subbing out a 600HPS for a 600LED sounds like a waste of investment, but the 600w LED (of quality parts..) will bring you more than your 600. (coverage included..) equiv to a 1k? honestly I don't know, havnt been able to take readings... but the proof is in the pudding.

Apache Tech and Area 51 are the ONLY companies I would recommend for the what you're doing. and inda gro, don't forget inda gro.. but again, with my own experience I can tell you first hand that an SGS from '51 is equal to a 400MH, (not in coverage, but intensity, yes..) and an AT200 is equal to a 600, in numbers, I don't think I have done it justice in my scrog and wish I could formally apologize to AT. ha. but in a scenario as large as yours- the AT600 is 2legit2quit. (~670w?) two of those would be a direct replacement and then some... if you are just completely against "upgrading" and conserving- I GET THAT, I would look at '51, (just cheaper for individual panels...)

x2- AT600s
x1- AT600L ;)
x4- SGS160s (6 would be stellar, oriented differently though, lots of play room..)

or you can wait and see what they throw out here in a month or so.

You have movers for your 600's?

Noob question ahead. How can I power 4 120mm pc fans? I'd prefer that I be able to adjust the fan speed, but a set it and forget it option would be just as effective.

Figured it out. Should work out nicely.

No movers for the 600's... with venting, circulation and everything else i don't have enough room any more, part of the reason im considering LED's over induction lighting. i've been starting to look at brands and reliability when i realized the market is just to large to be reliable and i would need some real experience with LED's so thanks alot to everyone.

Apache At600's were the first ones i started seriously looking at but the price is Absurd for a new panel.... i could buy Cree bulb's, proper heat sinks and machine a hood for $300~ And get my long time friend and electrician to wire them properly for a 1/2 Oz... Total price $500 or less per light rather than $2500/light... I think because of this im going to wait a month until new panels come out and buy stock from 2013? get the light's everyone is currently using for a lower price.

I Didn't state it in my last post but im rather comfortable with wiring electronics and i have a close friend who is a registered electrician... Don't be affraid to offer DIY Light sources and other ways of getting the needed output.

P.S: Im willing to spend 3x what i normally would on HID lighting to make the swap, $2000 Total. if i spend any more than that its not Financially worth it. Consider this: If LED's save me $35/billing period (2 months) and i have to recover $2500 for the swap it will take me 71 billing periods (140 Months or 11 Years....) For the LED's to be worth the swap...

There is 480of the best chips in a at600. I would love to see that bult for under $500 but it isn't that easy.
Considering that the cree counterpart(apache doesn't use cree), the xte, is about $1.80(raw chips with the bulk discount) so times 480 chips=$864 worth of cree chips alone(not nichia)...then heatsink, driver(mean well, top notch), housing, lenses, boards, fans. Plus AT is UL so your house(actual real value) is safe from any issues. And apache uses nichia which are slightly better performing and cost 1.5X as much as cree. So ya I guess you could try and buy the pieces then build it but it's not as cheap as you think...not even close.
