As you can see in my avatar my hash butter made from contaminate bag grade seems to make the butter green but it always leaves a black layer of hash that get seperated when the butter hash mixture cools. Do I eat that stuff too or cut it off or what?

I think hash can actually be eaten straight, but if you wanna make cannabutter, you get rid of the hash after. Just like when you make it with weed, you have to strain out the leaf after.

cut it off and wrap it up in the freezer, the next time u go to make some butter toss that in addition to whatever freshness you wanna go with. Kinda like a mash when they make whiskey.

BTW nothing is going to ever disolve in your butter except for more butter. what they mean by "Disolve" is that if you use that butter right off of simmer the particles of the hash (Trichs) are gonna be suspended in the butter, and then when you mix that in with your food it gets dispersed to the point where its undetectable to the palate unless youre searching for it.

Isnt the hash mostly made of trichomes that would dissolve? What exactly is making the butter turn green when you add hash? Theres no plant matter...or is it?

chlorophyll

Hash IS plant matter. Trichomes are indeed plant matter as they were once connected and are the direct result of a plant/foliage (Ganja). Therefore no matter how small it is or what its called, its still plant matter and contains some % of
chlorophyll that turns things green

I made a loaf of banana space cake with a half cup of that stuff(about .5 grams per slice) and it tastes so much better than cannabutter. I didnt cut off the black stuff either so the cake had little black speckles in it.:hump:

if youre referring to the butter you made (out of hash), then that sir is also Cannabutter (Canna referring to Cannabis. Hash is made out of a product of cannabis ((See Trichomes))). Hashbutter, Cannabutter, Same product.

I forgot to comment on the question to if you should eat it. Yes, when i make my personal edibles i always just grind my ganj into poweder and leave it in as i enjoy the texture and taste of the plant matter, besides youll never get 100% of the butter/oil out of the plant matter after simmering so i just leave it and eat it

well the cake has a hint of cannabutter to it but not like the shit you make out of buds and sugar leaves. Its different when I make the butter out of hash.

the point i was trying to make is no matter how it tastes, smells, whatever....its still Cannabutter no matter what hash or leaves.

TRICHOMES- Product of the CANNAbis plant
Marijuana- Product of the CANNAbis plant

hence, CANNAbutter

trichome heads do NOT have chlorophyll. View attachment 272773 View attachment 272774

Every part of every living plant no matter it be whats above ground, or the roots or whatever contains some % of chlorophyll, and not all chlorophyll is green. that 2nd pic you posted is a great example of what the Physical makeup of a trichome is however it lists nothing of what chemicals are in it except for THC

I cant seem to find anything actually listing the chemical makeup of the Trichome of a pot plant, so touche. if you know of one please, do tell.

However i know from studying horticulture for a fair amount of years that every part of every plant no matter what color it is contains Chlorophyll (even the bark of a tree)

Does soybean oil suspend THC?
As for this, im not 100% sure but i think the saturated fat content of soybean oil is very low therefore will not take to the THC as good as another substance

Good. I used butter instead. It made the brownies taste so much better. Also I used kif instead of trying to strain thru cheesecloth as that gets a little messy. I found a good book calld "The Art and Science of Cooking with Cannabis" Lots of good stuff in there. Authhor is Adam Gottlieb

i didnt read anything on here but i suggest turn the heat up a bit and use a little force like a fork. it'll work trust me. honey or hash oil is always easier to infuse but it all works. A little of the hash may be a bit grainy at the end and settle to the bottom. Thats all good stuff though.
